[Frameworks] Program of animated shorts looking for venues
Hello Frameworks! This is Tess Martin, animator currently based in The Netherlands. I've curated a program of animated shorts from Seattle called Strange Creatures and I'm putting a tour together in Europe. I'm hoping to screen in the UK and Ireland in March 2014 and mainland Europe July/August 2014. All the shorts are animated one frame at a time, and all have animal/nature themes. It includes films from award-winning animators like Drew Christie and Bruce Bickford, and films that have previously shown in Sundance and many other festivals. You can see the line up here: http://www.tessmartinart.com/?cat=177 I'm looking for venues like art house cinemas, film/art centers, etc., preferably venues that have some kind of budget for screening fees. I'm open to suggestions in all of Europe, including the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Rep, Poland, Hungary, the Baltics and the Balkans. Basically, everywhere! Any suggestions much appreciated. Thank you kindly, Tess Martin tessmar...@hotmail.com ___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks

Re: [Frameworks] beaulieu 4008 zm - NIZO 561 macro
Hi Philippe, I have a Braun NIZO 561 Macro in quite good shape with case and accessories (e.g. shutter release trigger, right-angle mirror lens attachment) I’m located in the Midwest, not NYC - but it would ship well in the case. If you’re interested I would be happy to pass along photos and discuss price. [Frameworks] seminal writing on American a/g film after 76
Hello all,A friend is compiling a bibliography and needs to know the 4-5 most important scholarly books or articles on American a/g film made after 1976. My scholarship on the a/g is mostly in the 60s and 70s and while I know much of the work that comes after, I wanted to confirm my suspicions.Suggestions welcome and appreciated. Thanks,Ara ___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks
[Frameworks] New Irish Underground Film @ Spectacle Theater, New York
An announcement from Ireland for New York-based Frameworks folk: Six programmes of contemporary Irish underground films will be screened at New York's Spectacle Theater over three Thursdays: November 7th, November 21st and December 5th. Says programmer Donal Foreman: Irish cinema has never been renowned for harboring a vibrant underground or experimental film scene. There have been significant exceptions (most importantly, aspects of the Irish “First Wave” of the 1970s), but it’s only in recent years that a body of films has emerged that offer a powerful rebuttal to that perception. While to announce a fully-fledged “movement” would be premature, it is safe to say that the work of the four filmmakers featured in this series – Rouzbeh Rashidi, Maximilian Le Cain, Dean Kavanagh and Michael Higgins – represent an important new direction in Irish cinema. Re: [Frameworks] 16mm matchback - avid - add keycode?
hey folks finally worked it out ... i'm using avid MC3 i had to: open a new project in avid choose 'film 16mm' format import the master clip split it into 8 subclips, each of which corresponded to a roll of neg (the master clip = a telecine of 8 rolls of 16mm neg) check the key numbers on the actual neg punch the head tail key numbers for each roll into the aux ink columns for each subclip (in the avid bin) do a rough cut with the subclips open filmscribe import the sequence after that it was easy to export an assembly list in filmscribe (just had to make sure that filmscribe was also set to 16mm) i'm getting a workprint of two of the rolls though, to test the assembly list make sure the numbers match ... cheers moira moiratierney.net vimeo.com/moiratierney On Saturday, October 26, 2013 3:12 PM, Will Erokan willieben...@gmail.com wrote: Which AVID are you using? I believe this was Media Composer 5 in about 2010. Not to ask the obvious, but do your dailies actually include keycode running along with the video? Feel free to message me off list if I can help - I confirmed a negative from a Media Composer 5 edit that same year. Since then I have not edited that way, as Avid isn't supported here where I work.
