[Frameworks] "Husbands" and "Wives"

2017-02-10 Thread minou norouzi
Dear Frameworkers,

I'm doing some research on filmmaking couples and wondered if you could
help?

Am looking to identify filmmakers who are in relationships with other
filmmakers, or those have been in the past, and where their individual
works are distinct and separate from each other, rather than outright
collaborations (if that makes sense). This, within the artist's film,
artist-made film, experimental film genre.
The pairings I'm looking to identify need not be heterosexual pairings;
very open to historical suggestions as well. They just both need to have
made a significant number of films of their own.

Look forward to hearing your suggestions - very many thanks in advance!

[Frameworks] Sheffield Fringe 2016 programme announcement

2016-05-19 Thread minou norouzi
*Appologies for cross-posting*

*Sheffield Fringe 2016: OBJECT DOCUMENTARYJUNE 10-18 2016 BLOC PROJECTS 71
Eyre Lane Sheffield S1 4RB*

Now in its fifth edition, the third to take place at Bloc Projects,
Sheffield Fringe includes both emerging and established artists working
with the moving image in diverse ways. Formerly an annual event, Sheffield
Fringe is now held in Sheffield biennially, outside of which it operates
nomadically through international exhibitions, events and research
projects. Its Sheffield-based manifestation coincides with Sheffield
International Documentary Film Festival (Doc/Fest), with the intention of
creating a complimentary platform for artists’ moving image work, and a
context in which to encourage creative collaboration between the
communities surrounding contemporary art and documentary film.

This year’s programme *Object Documentary* investigates the ethical
challenges of regarding documentary film as an object, and documentary
material as a resource, through a diverse series of screenings exploring
themes ranging from international conflict resolution, the nature and
creation of stories, the political use-value in filmmaking, colonial
histories, and reflections on memory and nostalgia.

Participating artists are: *Mox Mäkelä, Timo Menke & Nils Agdler, Patricia
Bandeira, Ted Kennedy, Peter Martin, Francesco Pedraglio, Leafcutter John,
Emma Leach, Alison J Carr, Jumana Manna & Sille Storihle, Rosalind
Nashashibi, Richard Wiebe, Pat Law, Sasha Litvintseva, Sarah Beddington,
Mairéad McClean, Xiaowen Zhu, Tinne Zenner, Daniel Jacoby, Ben Balcom, Sky
Hopinka, Andrée-Anne Roussel, Zachary Epcar, Patricia Azevedo & Clare
Charnley, Scott Willis, Ian Nesbitt, Liz von Graevenitz, Alistair
Macdonald, Michael Day, Richard Bartle, Maud Haya-Baviera, Lesley Guy & Lea

[Frameworks] Open call for artists' documentary

2015-11-23 Thread minou norouzi
Dear Frameworkers,

I'm involved with a UK based curatorial platform now in it's 5th year and
relaunching as a small biannual arts festival staged at Bloc Projects
gallery in Sheffield. Incorporating a visual arts exhibition, workshops and
presentations the project brings together artists, filmmakers, researchers,
academics, and the general public in an event that questions ways of
working with reality within a cross section of media, including film, sound
and performance. Additionally there is a touring programme, which in the
last round included collaborations with The Hackney Picturehouse, London;
Utrecht University, The Netherlands; ICSM Men & Masculinity Conference,
Turkey; UnionDocs, New York.

We are looking for work for the next edition. Details here:
http://sheffieldfringe.com/

With kind regards,
Minou
