All of Bill Brown's films are very film-diary-ish. In fact, his film
'Roswell' begind Dear Secret Diary...

Also the early work of Sadie Benning.

The film 'Tarnation' also might be of interest to you.

I'm also interested in critical writing on the subject.

Besides Jonas Mekas, whose work should I be exploring?

Consideration of the relation between film journal and video letter would pay
off in spades, as it would allow you to consider medium specificity as well. I
think of the Japanese poet TANIKAWA Shuntaro and his video letters with
TERAYAMA Shuji. Very rewarding of your exploration.

Hi Kevin!

Some people to check out: Marie Menken, Steve Reinke, John Smith
(especially the Hotel Diaries), George Kuchar's Weather Diaries, Saddie
Benning's early Pixelvision work, Joe Gibbons (at least Confessions of a
Sociopath), Daige Brundert.

Is there a working definition you're using? Or are you trying to create
that definition after looking at a collection of work?
