This is a narrow case of more wide problem.

I think more general would be to have some sort of
`pkg options`
which will allow you to set up some options (port- and system- wide) to be
preferred.
So, in such case pkg would compare options of pkg form different repo and
choose right one (or most fit).
Or at least ask user about choice.

Or we can start from some kind of
`pkg set-preferred repo REPO portname*`

and it will be store in pkg information? and used in future?

I've made a patch against pkgng HEAD, to add a -l option (just for pkg
search currently) to use the SQL LIKE operator. This allows for case
insensitivity. Perhaps it could just be default?

http://www.bayofrum.net/~crees/patches/pkgng-like.diff

If you want to try it out, stick the following as patch-like.diff into
ports-mgmt/pkg/files (crude backport):

http://www.bayofrum.net/~crees/patches/pkgng-like-for-port.diff

It works for me;

As nvidia-drivers has been fixed and is now properly working with pkgng, the
ports tree as been switch by default to use pkgng on FreeBSD Current based
 on
version = 117 which was the version when we tested the switch code.

Make sure to read UPDATING (from ports) to correctly migrate your system or

pkg command does not have key for list options - no autocompletions

for example, for service command, I use
 complete service'n/*/`service -l`/'
 in .cshrc

what I can use for pkg command?

 horrible but working example
 pkg help 21 | sed -e '1,/Commands supported:/d ; /For more information
 on the different commands/,$d; s/^ *// ; s/ .*.*$// ;/^$/d'

There's bound to be better ways, I was just bored enough to knock this up.
 note s/^*// is a tab, while s/ .*.*$// is 2 spaces
dont think our sed has any other way to express tab other than an actual
tab (ctrl-v then tab on the command line)

it's crazy =)
may be add -l options?

 For Bourne-style shell:
 `pkg help 21 | sed -nE 's,^ +(.*),\1,p'`

 For csh-style shell:
 `pkg help | sed -nE 's,^ +(.*),\1,p'`

where the bit between ^ and + is a tab character. You can type the
tab character on a command prompt by using Ctrl+V then tab, or just
type it normally in the script.

Hope that helps in the meantime.

I really don't see any option from you. Anything that is in FreeBSD is

Seriously - if ports team is willing to have legacy versions in ports,
we need to discuss some rules for this work. Not just for PHP, but more
general. In which conditions we need/allow them, the naming conventions
(some ports already have more versions but names are not consistent,
some ports are using -dev, -devel, -current [3 different sufixes for the
development branch], Perl always uses p5- prefix, Python have py25-,
py26- etc.)
So is it better to renumber the legacy (forked) version to
php52-ext_name-5.2.12 leaving php5- line for 5.3 version or do it like
Python (py25, py26): php52- and php53-.

It's good idea.
But, it may be very hard.
I very small know about port system (but, I maintain two or three ports
=)), but can small help - some test, or hands operations (rename, etc)

Hello,

would it not be interesting to have the DragonFlyBSD mail agent in
FreeBSD? It is a very simple mail agent, like ssmtp, but with some more
features: it can either deliver mail locally for local users or send all
other mail to a smarthost, and reads the aliases file. Hence it fulfills
the needs of the person who wants a small mail agent for receiving
periodic root mail, and wants to send the occasional without too much
fuss. It is much simpler than sendmail, postfix or exim.

For simplicity i have a tarball here:
http://www.lpthe.jussieu.fr/~talon/dma.tgz
it compiles out of the box, and it is easy to figure out how to use it.

I second that .. Sendmail has turned into an unnecesary behemont for a local
MTA .. dma is a lot smaller, simpler, easier to maintain, a lot less bug
prone, way easier to configure and all in all, just what I need if my MTA
only job will be delivering local mail ... Sendmail feels like having a
HUMMER only to take my kids to school and then get back to my home .. which
is only two blocks away ... :s

It would be really nice if I could choose whether I want Sendmail, Postfix or
dma upon installation time (sysinstall) ...

Or exim =)

[Fwd: Re: obexftp - call for testers]

2008-02-19 Thread Alex Keda

Dierk Sacher пишет:

Hello,

thank you for your feedback.

For doing obex over bluetooth, obexftp needs both the

(1) BD_ADDR in raw format (it's _not_ resolving literal device names)
(2) the Channel (by using the -B option)

So, on my K750i, which has I do something like this (I will use long
options for better understanding):

# get the capability list:
obexftp --bluetooth `bthost -b k750ieva` --channel 6 --capability

Channel 6 is OBEX File Transfer on that phone. IrMC (8 for me) will also
do. You won't be succesful doing this on OBEX Object Push.

If you need to find out the proper channel for your mobile, do something
like

  sdpcontrol -a k750ieva Browse

The whole point of using obexftp over obexapp is (for me), that obexapp
is not able to retrieve all the telecom/ nodes, which won't show up in
filebrowsing and return an error if you try to traverse the path level
by level.
Thatswhy you have to specify the path as a whole in 'get' command
blindly
to successfully retrieve them. This is AFAIK only a restriction of some
(including obviously all my) mobile phones.

So this is where the -S (--nopath) parameter comes handy:

obexftp --bluetooth `bthost -b k750ieva` --channel 6 --nopath \
  --uuid SYNCH --get telecom/devinfo.txt

(You may also try telecom/pb.vcf or telecom/cal.vcs and *PLEASE* backup
your contacts first! It's perfectly possible to bust your databases so
all your valuable contacts go down the drain and I won't be the one to
be put in charge for that.)

As you see, I also need to specify the SYNCH (IRMC will also do). Please
look up the manpage, cause my understanding of this rather limited (in
other words: I'm just using it).

One final note: my mobiles firmware obviously left the drawing table a
bit, uhm, early. You may have to reset your bluetooth devices and/or the
whole mobile (by removing batteries in my case :-() after doing some
transfers. This is *not* a problem specific to obexftp. Its happening
with a lot of other peers and usage scenarios too.

Gruss
Dierk

I wouldn't mind having obexftp to talk to my phone but unfortunately
this port doesn't work for me on 6.3-PRERELEASE/amd64 over bluetooth,
though that could be just that I'm not driving it correctly:

ktrace shows that it's not searching /etc/bluetooth/hosts but directly
specifying the BD_ADDR has no improvement and the connect() is returning
EINVAL.
