Not the case.

Oracle 8, Centos 8 and Centos Stream uses something called

dracut pre-trigger hook wating to connct to lldpad

Using

#!/bin/sh
/usr/sbin/bhyve -ASHP \
 -s 0:0,hostbridge \
 -s 31:0,lpc \
 -s 2:0,virtio-net,tap2 \
 -s 3:0,virtio-blk,/usr/vm/images/centos8 \
 -s 4:0,ahci-cd,/usr/vm/.iso/CentOS-8-x86_64-1905-dvd1.iso \
 -c 4 -m 512M \
 -s 29,fbuf,tcp=0.0.0.0:5956,w=1024,h=768,wait \
 -l bootrom,/usr/local/share/uefi-firmware/BHYVE_UEFI.fd \
 centos8guest &

 To Install Centos 8

 and

#!/bin/sh
/usr/sbin/bhyve -ASHP -s 0:0,hostbridge -s 31:0,lpc -s 2:0,virtio-net,tap5 -s
3:0,virtio-blk,/usr/vm/images/oracle -s 4:0,ahci-cd,/usr/vm/.iso/V983280-01.iso
-s 29,fbuf,tcp=0.0.0.0:5961,w=1024,h=768,wait -c 4 -m 512M -l
bootrom,/usr/local/share/uefi-firmware/BHYVE_UEFI.fd oracleguest &

to install Oracle Linux 8.\\

So we need bhyve to address this and the gui issue posed by Debian.

UEFI and othere Unixes

2017-05-22 Thread The Doctor
All right, I am using UEFI for all my virtualisation.

I was wondering using UEFI how to install

netBSD
OpenBSD
Gentoo
Mandrake
Mandriva
et al

I see an entry for ArchLinux

Just wondering if we can start this and abandon non-UEFI practices.

Well it it interesting that in either VNC or RPC the password is 'incorrect'.

The reason for asking is as follows:

Using direct method in X-Windows And the Correct
temprament of the keyboard,

I can log into my virtual W2k16 boxes

Even using VNC the Password seems not to work.

Wondering if this was w2k16/bhyve realted.

Still we need to address this issue!

Even here in FreeBSD-11 stable I see crashing

What I need to help you is what is needed for running gdb ../bhyve ../bhyve.core

Then I might be doing something different than the expected.

1) I set up my bridges and my taps and IP then according

(I have a /24)

2) I associate all the taps with an IP Address.

3) I install the VM using UEFI method on.

4) using VNC I make certain the VM is working accordingly.

So Linuxes such as Fedora, Centos, Debian and Ubuntu are working using ssh
and VNC

Windows 2016 OTOH is working using VNC but not using Remote Desktop.

It acts as if the password I assigned to local box is not the same
on RDP/RPC .

All right, let me repeat what I am up aginst.

I do set the IP configuration in the virtual BIOS.

However when the Win2016 VM boots it sees

1) the localhost

2) its assigned IP address

3) A yellow triangle where the ethernet adaptor is.

Windows 2016

2016-10-31 Thread The Doctor
I was able to install the Windows 2016 using the GUI method.

One proble.

It is assigned an IP but

the netmask and the default route is not showing up.

Also The virtual Windows 2016 box does not see a network interface.

What must I do to convince this box that is it on a switch

192.168.0.60

Thar is handling the default routing to the interent.

For argument sake ,

the Windows server is IP as 192.168.0.68

I have an ubuntu up at 192.168.0.57
a Centos at 192.168.0.54
and
Fedora at 192.168.0.53

all running successfully.

I will look into the iohyve , saw that last night.

Does this also apply to UEFU BSDs / Linuxes ?

Well all right did follow https://wiki.freebsd.org/bhyve/UEFI

My next question is after the initial install is done,
how do I followup on the next step , i.e. to see if the VM is booting.

Check, check and check.

Hoever, yes I install the virtual machines but they cannot see
the network once installed :-(

The ifconfig_bridge0 should that be the virtual switch interface
hence the defaultrouter / default gateway interface on the VM?

right now I am assigning the VM from me 204.209.81.0/24 stack

with the 204.209.81.1 hosting all Vitural machines and being the NS1

and 204.209.81.3 being the NS2

with 204.209.81.2 being the default gateway

Getting you.

All right

Just reading 21.7.1 of the handbook

How do I "bridge" these "Taps"?

Dual 1.7 Xeon 64 bit CPUs and 16 GB ECC Ram

should be plenty.

All right, what bhyve sequence do I need to
distinguish the taps and the guests?
