Re: [Freedos-user] FreeDOS virtual get-together this weekend (social time!)

2021-11-21 Thread Jim Hall
Thanks to everyone for joining the FreeDOS virtual get-together today!
Folks dropped in and off as they had time. I think our max was 11 or 12
people at one point, and probably had 15+ folks overall. I shared a "group
photo" on Twitter. :-)

This was social time, so conversation ranged across a variety of topics. As
always, I love getting together and putting faces to names.

Our next virtual get-together is next month. We always meet on the third
Sunday at 11am US/Central (use your favorite timezone converter to get your
local time). So our next meetup is Sunday, December 19.

We alternate topics every month. December's focus will be technical.

Here's the link for 11:00 US/Central (that's about half an hour from now)

Hi John:

If this month's virtual get-together is social time, would everybody be
OK with me installing FreeDOS on an old Toshiba laptop, and giving a
running commentary, (occasional updates, not literally "I'm plugging in
the USB stick!) while we're chatting away?

This is my opportunity to find out what living in other countries is
like. I get swamped with technobabble anyway!

Will do! I'll share the link here probably 30 minutes before the meeting.

If I post a URL to an open video meeting *days* before the meeting, hackers
will be knocking on the door trying to use it. And then BlueJeans will
likely deactivate the link due to spam (they did that last time, or was it
the time before that?) So I don't want to post it too early. But I'll do it
that morning, before the meeting is due to start.

Hi everyone!

Every month, we do a virtual get-together. It's a great opportunity to

The virtual get-togethers are on the third Sunday every month. And
that's this coming Sunday, 21 November, at 11am US/Central. (Use your
favorite timezone converter to find your local time.)

We alternate the topics every month, switching between "technical"
topics one month, and "social time" the next month. For November, it's
social time. Join us on the virtual get-together to hang out and catch up!

I'll share the link on Sunday when the meeting starts up. I'll also
post it on Twitter, on Facebook, and on the website.

Any possibility to post that link a few minute before the planned start
of the meeting? For some reason, it always takes me 5-10 minutes to
actually connect... :(

thanks,

Ralf
