Sorry, I did not look to closely at the site. It's just the intro videos that
explain the site that DH was able to access, I thought that it was because the
others were QT rater than FLV, etc.

Re: G4 Mac OS 10.3 to 10.4 or 10.5?

2010-01-18 Thread Geke
CS3 runs under 10.4.11, which is a bit faster and a lot less
problematic on your Mac than Leopard, so I don’t see any reason for
you to move to 10.5.
See if you can increase the RAM, though, because CS3 is a heavy-weight
pgm for such a computer. 512 MB RAM modules are less than 20 $ now,
but you’ll have to find out exactly which G4 model you have (at Apple
or Wikipedia) to know how much is the RAM ceiling.

Shortly afterwards, a blue screen appears. But once the blue screen
appears, it simply stays blue. No desktop appears at all. Any
suggestions about what's going on here?

Let him boot with the Shift-key hold down. Simply see what happens and
reboot.

Cam Question

2010-01-18 Thread Stephen Conrad
I have an Olympus digital camera (Model # Stylus 300 Digital)
 124740955

It says it takes a 4.8v power cord (says that on the cover to where you plug
it
in). The only cord I have that is close is a 4.5V cord.

Now, will plugging this camera in recharge the battery?
Battery is an Olympus
  Model Li-10B

Have you contacted Olympus?

They have a website:

and tech support.

Possibly, but probably not. That's quite close, but if it's a 4.5V
battery, it will not charge (you have to apply a higher voltage than
the rated voltage to charge a battery.)

You really want to be careful when doing things like this, not only
are there issues of different voltages, but also polarity or whether
it's AC or DC.

In general you can safely substitute adapters of the same voltage and
polarity of the required amperage or higher.

Problem: Checking Extended Attributes file

2010-01-18 Thread Jonas Lopez
System: G4 tower with X= 10.4 and 10.2 and 9 for that matter.

Decided to run using safe mode by using Apple+S at start up.

At command line after the # entered /sbin/fsck -y ran just fine in 10.4 but had
this problem in 10.2:
.
.
Checking Extended Attributes file
Invalid leaf record count
(It should be 6 instead of 986)
.
. FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED
followed by
Volume was repaired successfully.

According to the instructions, this requires A REPEAT OF THE FSCK COMMAND until
fsck tells that the volume appears to be ok, first-pass repairs may uncover
issues, so repeat the command.

I did this 5 times but no change, still reporting 986 instead of 6.

Any ideas?

G4 450 MHz box with OS 8.1-9.2, X 10.2.8./ 10.4.11 AGP Graphics on a card. Both
are connected by 4 port LinkSys BEFSR41. 12 Gb hd in 4Gb and 8Gb partitions and
external 4Gb in 4 1Gb partitions. 470 Mb, Zip, fd, DVD/cd Drive, all are Apple
branded.

If you cannot find or do not want to pay for a dedicated  charger you may;

A .) Ask for the proper charger on Freecycle.

B. ) If you can pay. Walmart sells a wall-wart ( I like the
alliteration!) from Panasonic that is almost universal. It has
interchangable connectors and is variable voltage.
