an iPhone 3 question: sorry about that
I would appreciate someone redirecting me to the correct forum. My iPhone 3 (?) has all of a sudden stopped receiving mail on my home wireless connection, although it still sends it and Safari works. Mea culpa, about the forum. older MacMini and OS 9.1
Hi: I have an older PPC MacMini 7400 running OS X 4.11 which i purchased overseas a while back. When I reformatted the drive, using the original disks, I didn't bother installing the system 9.1 option. Now I would like to do so. If I run the installer for OS 9.1.(I think it's on disk #2) will it load without having to reformat the entire drive again for OS X 4.11, or should I save all my files, onto a largish external USB drive which I have, do it all over again, or perhaps, just forget the whole thing. Thanks for any help you can offer. Re: older MacMini and OS 9.1
Thanks for the reply. I just want to install OS 9 and run it from the machine. My main interest is to be able to access my old Address Book program from many years ago, I shall have to pull it off my old 9600/300 Power PC, which is gathering dust behind a sofa in my room. If you're talking about installing Classic, the Classic installer will just install Classic and 9.2.2, and will not reformat your disk or touch 10.4 otherwise. If you're talking about installing OS 9, no Mac mini can boot Mac OS 9; they can only run Classic. -- personal: http:// www.cameronkaiser.com/ -- Cameron Kaiser * Floodgap Systems * www.floodgap.com * ckai...@floodgap.com -- Eggheads unite! DiskDoubler software
Hi: I have been rummaging through my archives (read: Junk Pile) and have come across some files which had been DiskDoubled. Problem: my DiskDoubler software seems to have disappeared. What solution is there (if I keep looking, I may find the original software on another old disk, I suppose) and i guess it is really not that important a file. In any case, any help would be appreciated. rmwo...@interlog.com -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. Re: Laserwriter 4/600 cartridge problem
I have an old LaserWriter 16/600PS which I bought used several years ago. It has given (and is still giving) me yeoman service. It prints better than either of my wife's HP (much newer) printers (they give a pixellated (?) print-out on angled print boxes in ClarisWorks, etc.). I used it for several years with my old PPC 9600/300, to which it is still connected with the old Mac printer serial cable. There are a couple of old programs which I use once or twice a year on this machine. I also have it connected to my newer G4 using a parallel to USB converter cable. I tried desperately a year or so ago to install it on the G3, and it finally started to print as Unknown printer, whereas it comes up correctly under its original name with the 9600. I have no idea why it works this way, and I was nearly ready to toss it out when it finally started to print using OS X 4.11. I have three queries: I am afraid ever to put the G4 into Classic mode, for fear it will never come back to OS X, and/or print correctly again. Also, I am afraid to upgrade to the newer OS X.5 ... systems, for fear (see above). (I also purchased a HP Color LaserJet CP1215 which, it seems, will never work with any Mac. Ah, well, I can always use my wife's PC, faute de mieux.) Right now, and probably indefinitely, I am in the If it ain't broke, don't fix it mode. Any advice? My apologies if this is the wrong forum, or thread. Please move it to the correct one, if this is necessary. Thanks for all and any advice. Not used it all that much (this is the bit that hurts!) and it suddenly started causing darkish tones on one side of the paper that was printed. I pulled the cartridge out and it was extraordinary, when I tried to gently sway it to even the toner it simply started to leak out of both sides like it thought it was a sand egg timer. Bloody hell! Why would the toner do this, are there seals that deteriorate? Anyway, appreciate anyone knowing where best to get a replacement (I am so loathe to get rid of it, I even have a perfect spare machine! But perhaps I should just buy a new USB machine, they are cheap enough I guess. I already have to start a 7300 on 9 to use it from my Quicksilver on X via ethernet and a little apple supplied program... -- dorayme I went through this very problem with a replacement cartridge for my LaserSelect 360. Rather then tell you where I bought the cartridge, I will tell you this: my NEW USB printer works much better than the LS 360 ever did. IMHO, you should forget about the 4/600. Don't waste any more money trying another cartridge when for about the same price you can join the 21st Century.
