Re: G4 iMac desktop screen keeps redrawing

2009-03-18 Thread Lawrence David Eden
Do you have StuffitDeluxe installed? If the answer is YES, do a
search for Stuffit AVR. If you find it, disable it or delete it and
see if the problem goes away.

I have a G4 iMac, running 10.4.11. In the past week, I have noticed
that the desktop screen keeps re-drawing every few minutes. I ran
Disk permissions and Onyx and I didn't get any negative messages. Any
idea what could be causing the re-drawing?

(i hope I am explaining redrawing as the right action. The desktop
blinks and then everything on it appears again.)

This sounds more like a hardware issue than software. Do you hear any
noises coming out of the monitor or computer when it blinks?

I've had this happen a few times, in Tiger. Turned out to be a
poorly sized background picture. The fix was to dump
~/Library/Caches/Desktop/ then select a different picture in the
system prefs.

Could also be apps like StuffIt or even hardware, as others suggest, tho.

Look in System Pref. If you have a pref pane called Stuffit AVR and it's
checked... Uncheck it.

could be a refresh issue. Go to system prefs and look under displays. See if
you can change the refresh rate.-Jonas
