Anyhow, some “security conscious” individual wrote the system root password on the front in black felt tip. Is there any way to remove this darned blemish or, at least fade it a bit? Try water first, then if that doesn't work alcohol (not rubbing which contains oil), then lighter fluid, then try scrubbing with a white toothpaste. Re: Plastics Care
Ultra fine # steel wool works great removing scratches and blemishes from most plastics. Don't know how many computer cases over the years I've made look like new by using it. Re: Plastics Care
I too would recommend a Mr. Clean white pad (Magic Eraser). It's made in Germany, and I've even found identical pads in dollar stores, also made in Germany. Walgreens now has a store brand version. I've used them fairly often to remove indelible marks from computer plastic. With little effort, the plastic looks like there was never a mark on it, and there's no indication that anything was used on it. They're also good for getting things like grape juice stains off kitchen countertops. They are mildly abrasive, so use them as little as necessary. If you already have the super-fine steel wool (and no white pads), you might as well try that first. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
