Re: Flashing Video Card for G5?
i have a sawtooth (2x agp slot). i am getting ready to buy an XFX GeForce 6200, for which there is a rom in the macelite library. before i buy it, are you aware of a better card that has a 2x/4x/8x connector that i should look for? the macelite buying guide talks about a 6800, but the PC version apparently has a 64kb chip and the available Mac ROM for that card is 128kb. i don't think i'm up to replacing a rom chip! thanks! ken baker On Feb 2, 9:15 pm, Kris Tilford ktilfo...@cox.net wrote: On Feb 2, 2011, at 8:09 PM, Jeremiah Stevens wrote: How do you flash video cards for Mac? Re: Flashing Video Card for G5?
My stock MDD dual 1.0GHz ATI 9000 Pro (64MB) handles 1920x1080 just fine on an Acer 23. No core image though... This is via DMI. Interestingly, it will not work properly on my 47 Vizio via DMI to HDMI cable, though analog 1920x1080 via VGA adapter works great. There was a link there, either in the FAQ and Wiki or in the Strange Dogs archive, in one of the posts to a wonderful page listing all (?) of the various GPUs down through the years and their various characteristics and relative performance (or at least, bandwidth). I never bookmarked the page, because I was always able to get to it through that link in the forums. Sigh. I've googled up other pages of GPU lists, but they're neither as good nor as comprehensive. The one I found there doesn't seem to come up easily in a Google search. BTW, is the ATI X800 not as good as the nVidia 7800? A good Mac card (no flashing needed) would be an ATI Radeon X1600 with 256 MB of RAM. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
