Toast 10 not loading.
Hi all, All of a sudden, Toast 10 has been unwilling to load of a friend's iMac. It was (apparently) working a few weeks ago. I asked him to send me any messages from the log, and I was provided with the following. The console message reads:- Jun 19 13:57:08 Macintosh com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[122] ([0x0-0x27c27c].com.roxio.Toast[3912]): Exited with exit code: 255 Jun 19 13:58:38 Macintosh com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[122] ([0x0-0x27d27d].com.roxio.Toast[3920]): Exited with exit code: 255 Jun 19 13:58:51 Macintosh com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[122] ([0x0-0x27e27e].com.roxio.Toast[3923]): Exited with exit code: 255 Jun 19 13:58:56 Macintosh com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[122] ([0x0-0x27f27f].com.roxio.Toast[3926]): Exited with exit code: 255 Jun 19 13:59:07 Macintosh com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[122] ([0x0-0x280280].com.roxio.Toast[3928]): Exited with exit code: 255 Jun 19 13:59:20 Macintosh com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[122] ([0x0-0x281281].com.roxio.Toast[3931]): Exited with exit code: 255 This doesn't mean a lot to me:- is there anyone who could shed any helpful light on this? Roxio support pages don't recognise exit code: 255 so I'm presuming it's an OSX message. Whilst obviously getting him burning again is my prime purpose, I was hoping that someone with greater experience/knowledge than I have would be able to tell me the meaning of this message, so I could (possibly) prevent any recurrence, or know what exit code: 255 means in case I ever encounter it again. Googling for Error code 255 reveals that a lot of programs spit this error out when the local preferences are foo or the app is corrupted. Surefire check: Have your friend create another account on the machine. Log in as that user, then test Toast to see if it works. If it does, then the problem is SOMEwhere in his user Library folder, most likely a prefs file or possibly something in Application support, or a Toast folder, if there is one. If it doesn't work for the new user delete Toast and all the prefs/application support, etc, and re-install. -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
