no, it wasn't, i don't use it for that purpose, but i do use it for changing
the version numbers of programs that i write and release, as it always comes
up with the autoit version being used.
because i use it for this, i just happen to know that it can retrieve sounds
and midi files within the program should you want to.

well that is quite easy to hack, unless you encrypt the sounds in the
exe.
there is a resource hacking program, which coincidently i use for
changing
the version information for the programs i make which can retrieve
sounds
  out of exes and dlls.

  Hi,
Also there is another way to secure sound effects and it is about as
full proof as it gets. In Visual C++ you can clude your effects as a
resource, and compile it directly in to the *.exe file. It pretty much
insures no one will get at them. You can also build them in to a *.dll
  and access them remotely.
I recommend the *.dll as it makes them extremely secure, and it doesn't
make your *.exe file the size of Texas.

it is an interesting topic though. if people do want to encrypt their
  sounds
they all do it in different ways. some people use comaudio to do all
   the
dirty work, some people use other external software, and then there
are
those that try and disguise them by changing a .zip filename to .dat
or
something similar, then there are those experts that write out their
   own
encryption/decryption routines. i wouldn't encrypt many of my game
  sounds,
as it can be fun to change the sounds and hear what it sounds like
with
different effects, but as i learned quite a while back by thomas
here,
  and
other devs on this list, some companies think differently, so we all
  have to
respect their policies, which i can fully understand.

   regards,

   damien

Hello,

The method of sound packing that Tom's aware of was employed in some of
our titles, but we have long since abandoned it. The pinball table
sounds themselves are packed in a way to discourage hacking.

A dedicated hacker could doubtless extract the sound data, but would be
hard pressed to recompile the pinball tables, and we would not be
pleased with such activity in any case.

Hi Shaun,
I have no immediate plans to support .NET Framework 3 directly. However,
since I am building against .NET Framework 2 3 is backward compatible
with 2.0. So no problems I know of if you want to go ahead and upgrade
to 3.0. Perhaps you can serve as a tester.
STFC 1.0 is do to come out as soon as I can get Inno to do a couple of
things I am having troubles with, and rewrite the STFC User's guide.

Re: [Audyssey] Sryth The Age of Igtheon

2006-11-13 Thread Dark
Hello.

the only way to raise your staminer in Sryth is buy equipping and wearing
armour, but luckily in Sryth you can equip and wear lots of armour. A full
compliment means four rings, and one piece of armour of each other type,
head, torso, arms, hands, waste, legs, feet, back and tabard. there is also
currently one item in the game described as Armour, wrist as well.

As to the old cathedral, you need to find and defeat all four guardians to
open the exit to the lower level.

Just in case you need them, I'll give the directions to the guardians, but
if you'd rather find them on your own you'd better stop reading now:

guardian 1: from the entrance, head north until you come to an East/west
jungction where you should go west, then south, then east, south, and west
again.

guardian 2: At the previously mentioned east/west junction, head east, then
quite a long way south, then east, and finally north.

Guardian 3: from the entrance head south, then at the east/west junction go
west. Take the first north, then west and south.

guardian 4: This time, head east from the previously mentioned junction,
then go north until you reach a passage to the west, follow that round to
the south and east.

to find the entrance to the lower level, just go east from the junction
mentioned above (the one south of the entrance.

I hope all that was of some help.

all the best,

Dark.

Unfortunately, my charactor has managed to find a grand total of 0 rare

 the
 phantom assassin and crew.

 Beware, spoilers ahoy!

the only bracelet I remember getting from an adventure is the Emerald

 Hello.

the only way to raise your staminer in Sryth is buy equipping and
 wearing
armour, but luckily in Sryth you can equip and wear lots of armour. A
 full
compliment means four rings, and one piece of armour of each other
 type,
head, torso, arms, hands, waste, legs, feet, back and tabard. there is
 also
currently one item in the game described as Armour, wrist as well.

As to the old cathedral, you need to find and defeat all four
 guardians
 to
open the exit to the lower level.

Just in case you need them, I'll give the directions to the guardians,
 but
if you'd rather find them on your own you'd better stop reading now:

guardian 1: from the entrance, head north until you come to an
 East/west
jungction where you should go west, then south, then east, south, and
 west
 again.

guardian 2: At the previously mentioned east/west junction, head east,
 then
quite a long way south, then east, and finally north.

Guardian 3: from the entrance head south, then at the east/west
 junction
 go
west. Take the first north, then west and south.

guardian 4: This time, head east from the previously mentioned
 junction,
then go north until you reach a passage to the west, follow that round
 to
 the south and east.

to find the entrance to the lower level, just go east from the
 junction
mentioned above (the one south of the entrance.

I hope all that was of some help.

 all the best,

 Dark.

2006-11-13 Thread Niall
Interesting maybe I should try it again. I just heard that you needed the
skill of gating so I didn't find it worth it to continue and the information
came from matt yeros the guy who made sryth in the first place.

Ah yes. The shadow path. You don't actually need gating to close that
 gate.
You just need the Shadowstone, which you get automatically.

I think the ruby bracelet is in the quest for the monks in trithic. The
one
where you have to close some kind of gate allowing evil demons and
 creatures
into the world. I could never complete that quest since I've never really
had any skills in gating and my character is pretty bad since I don't
 have
 the adventurers guild membership.

Hi Johnny,
you could check out the web site

http://www.mudconnect.com/

go to the search link and then find the search box. Type western in the box
and it should return about 13 western mud style links to check out.
