Re: [Audyssey] alter eon

2007-02-04 Thread ian and riggs
no what i said about alter eeon before was a bit unfair really. my char is
heeman and he is good. i am going to create a new thief char his name will
be keao or dex what ever is three. it is not the best mud i ever played but
i can see why people like it. the think i do not like about it is that their
is nothing between the newbie aireas and the really experieanced leveled
areas

Re: [Audyssey] Playing interactive fiction on the PACMate

2007-02-04 Thread Grant Hardy
Hi Ron,

There actually doesn't seem to be any menu bar whatsoever when I press F2
(the key to access a menu bar on a PACMateBX) or F2-chord. It's just
basically a blank window, and there's nothing that can even be navigated to
with the JAWS cursor.

By the way, is there some folder I'm supposed to put my games into?

That may be, but in my opinion, alter aeon is a good mud, and it's the most
accessible one with features specifically designed to make it easier for a

[Audyssey] Audio CYOA Designer

2007-02-04 Thread AudioGames.net
Hi,

The following post was received on the Game-Accessibility.com forum:

*quote*
Hello all. I'm new here, but I'm a member of the "Game Maker" community.
That's a program that can be used to make games. I also use it to write
software. A little while back I wrote some scripts that can render use of
SAPI via VBScript. I've also been following some of the audio game
developments. I'm not an impaired gamer (visual, audio, or physical), but I
have friends who are. I've been thinking of making a
Choose-Your-Own-Adventure maker for audio games (to create some free
adventures, not anything the level of Audio Game Maker). It also could be
used by the blind to make games. It's the interface I'm not sure about, I'm
not blind so I'm not sure how efficiently my interface will be able to be
used. I have a menu that's typical of an audio based game. Still, I'm not
experienced developing in this area. If you could provide suggestions, that
would be great. Beta testers would also be great if I get this project
farther off the ground.
*quote end*

Anyone care to reply? You can do so on:
http://www.game-accessibility.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=244 (you need to
sign up but this is free and accessible and only takes a minute and doesn't
require email verification).

Re: [Audyssey] Creating trivia files in Jim Kitchen's game

2007-02-04 Thread fastfinge
Hi,

Save the file as text (.txt). Then, find the saved file in Windows
Explorer and rename it (with f2) to the propper extension (.tg). You
will get a warning from windows about doing this, but you can say yes to
it. Then things should work.

Hi Grant

Glad to see you made it here to the list. As for your question if the
menus are anything like Winfrotz [which I'm guessing they are], then go to
file, and arrow down until new story or something similar is the option,
press enter then a dialogue box should come up with the available games.
Hope this works.

[Audyssey] alter eon

2007-02-04 Thread john snowling
Hi mark the web address is:

http://www.dentinmud.org/alter-1.0/

go down to the blind players link and enter on it.

Type new for new character and press enter
Type in your character name then a password
Re enter the password.
It will ask you several questions with a y or n answer and one on whether
you want your character to be male or female.

It will then give you a choice of options I would press option 1 for mud
school.

As I said I got a lot of help from a friend.

rename the extention. I think you have to save as a .txt file, then rename
the extention. Notepad would be good for this i think.

[Audyssey] Creating trivia files in Jim Kitchen's game

2007-02-04 Thread Bryan Peterson
Hi all,
Well, just downloaded Jim Kitchen's trivia game and have found it to be a lot
of fun. But I can't seem to create my own files. It says to save it as an MS
Dos format .tg file but that file type isn't in the list of possible ones in
Microsoft Word, Notepad or even Word Pad. Am I missing something here? I've got
a trivia file all ready but I can't seem to convert it to the proper format.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: [Audyssey] Playing interactive fiction on the PACMate

2007-02-04 Thread fastfinge
Hi,

Frostz is what you want; it has a blind mode for accessibility:
http://digilander.libero.it/jpdefault/frostz_index.html
It only supports the z-machine 1.0 standard, not 1.1 though, so some
games may not function as expected (especially _moments out of time_ and
the other games in that series). Good luck!

2007-02-04 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
A reminder is posted at midnight every Thursday and Saturday. Midnight
in the US that is. In that email, you can get information on what it's
about. Basically, you set up an account at http://www.for-the-people.com
and once confirmed you can go to the Games People Play room and voice
chat with other fellow gamers.

[Audyssey] Playing interactive fiction on the PACMate

2007-02-04 Thread Grant Hardy
Hey all!

I’m wondering if anyone knows of an accessible interpreter for interactive
fiction on the PACMate. I know some of you use PocketTads, but I am looking
for an interpreter to play Infocom games (with .z5 or .z8 extensions). I’m
trying out PocketFrotz but can’t even figure out how to open a game (when I
launch the program, it simply tells me that there is no game loaded and then
puts me into a blank window). Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] Sarah

2007-02-04 Thread Phil Vlasak
Hi Sky,
If I new that I would be a divination teacher!
I hope David will not take ten days to fix one little bug.
But like Tom said, bugs are sometimes hard to fix.
Like all good contractors I am installing broom cupboard doors and toilet
stall doors that need to be opened to enter those things.
Before you could walk right in and get what you want, but now you have to
hit enter on them to hear what is inside.
True, that is what you do in Shades of Doom, but that is what Harry does at
Hogwarts too.
Using the extendible ears, you may detect if something monstrous is on the
other side of the door.
smiles,
Phil
