Re: [Audyssey] SoundRTS sound pack?

2007-09-05 Thread SoundMUD
Hi,

Sorry for this problem. The SoundRTS website is probably misleading,
so I will add a comment near the sound pack link.

With beta 8 you don't need to install the sound pack; you just have to
select it in the options menu. You will have the sound pack 3, though.

If I get the 44.1Khz wav files of sound pack 4, I will update the
included sound pack to sound pack 4. For some reason the current 16Khz
wav files directly converted to ogg are not played at the right speed.

Re: [Audyssey] Audio Game Programming Languages

2007-09-05 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Thomas,

Yeah, I feel very fortunate that JFW 4.02 works so well for me with Windows XP,
VB6, HJ Pad, Gold Wave and the rest of the software that I like or need to run,
because I sure can not afford to buy JFW again. I bought 3.5 and the
whatchamacallit so that I got 3.7 and 4.0. Well 4.02, but as I said I sure am
glad that it works so well for me with VB6 etc so that I can continue to create
games in it.

BTW I have never been able to learn from reading books. Have learned
programming by experimenting with code. The first was from the owner's manual
that came with my Texas Instruments 99 4A.

Hi Jim,
Yeah, I am beginning to see the problem. The version of Jaws you have is
incompatible with allot of newer software. It won't work with the
Mozilla products like Firefox and Thunderbird which I like over Internet
Explorer and Windows Mail, it probably won't support Internet Explorer 7
well, Visual Studio 2003 and later, newer versions of MS office like
Office 2007, etc...
To use VS 2003/2005 I highly recommend Jaws 8 or Window Eyes 6.1,
Windows XP or Vista, and the technology just needs the latest screen
readers to get the best possible accessibility.
Recommendations aside for a long time I did manage to use VS 2003 with
Jaws 7 and Window Eyes 5.0 for quite a while, before upgrading to VS
2005 and screen reader upgrades as well.
Besides the screen reader upgrades you'd have to certainly read a few
books on VB .Net to get the hang of object oriented programming. For
structured programmers who never dealt with oop you'd end up having to
unlearn years of old habits, and begin learning to program fresh the way
modern standards conventionally hold programs should be written. It
wouldn't be cheap and it wouldn't be quick and easy under these
circumstances.

Re: [Audyssey] Kitchensinc games in vb6

2007-09-05 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Thomas,

that sounds good about the new and improved compatibility chart.

As far as my game menu goes, well it may be cheaper now, but years ago I was
paying some money for limited web site storage and band width. I thought the
extra meg or so that the install program added was an awful waste, so I thought
that putting them all in one folder with a game menu like I wrote for my dos
computer would be a good idea. Then a friend told me about the WinZip self
extractor and it all came together. It still does save a heck of allot of
space and band width.

- Original Message -
Hi Jim,
Well, the
new and improved compatibility chart
should appear in the
fall/winter release of the Audyssey mag.
By the way, just a question here. Why did you decide to make your own
custom launcher program like Winkit when it would have been probably
allot easier just to script an install with InnoSetup, and had a full
installer with custom icons, program groups, etc?
I'm truly interested as to why you felt going the way you did was better
than a standardized install.
Cheers.

Re: [Audyssey] Kitchensinc games in vb6

2007-09-05 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Thomas,

As I told you on Monday

Thomas I would also like to say that my winkit.zip file contains the files
Setup.exe, Setup.lst and Gamemenu.cab. It is an actual Microsoft Visual Basic
6 install program and thus puts the files where they belong. I E the library
files in c:\windows\system32.

I guess that it is actually called the Microsoft Visual Studio 6 package
Deployment Wizard. But yes I guess that I did miss the create an Icon part of
it. But I have helped a heck of allot of people make a desk top icon to the
gamemenu.exe file and a heck of allot of others knew to do that on their own
which means that from one icon you have access to all of my games through the
game menu program.

As far as my games not being 100 percent independent games, no they are not 100
percent. You must start with the WinKit.zip and life and then install all or
any of the other games that you want.

Like it says on my web site

winkit.zip 2.4m bytes May 2003
contains a game menu system and the board game of life
Please install the winkit.zip file before installing any of the below games.

Yeah Thomas, you know what they say about assuming. And I think that is very
true if you assume that I do my games in anything near a standard way. Heck
they are not even a product, they are my sharable accessible game creations.
You know like my life love hobby. Well they have only been in accessible form
for 17 years or so, but you know what I mean.

Hi Jim,
Yes, I was getting that error. I didn't really know what winkit did
until you explained it here on list. All I knew was that it had to be
installed, but I wasn't necessarily aware all the files had to be in the
exact same folder, or that Winkit linked all of the games together.
You see, for me I thought all of your games were individual programs
totally independant from each other. I assumed you could extract them
altogether or extract them wherever you wanted, click the *.exe file,
and begin playing. It never occurred to me you had written a custom
launcher program, and you had never intended for the games to be totally
100% independant programs.
As a developer myself I sort of assumed you were like most developers
creating each game as an individual stand alone product, and the only
reason you hadn't gotten around to an installer is that you either
didn't have one or know how to use one. So smart or dumb as I was I
assumed allot of things based on what a standard programmer would do,
and never really looked into how the games are suppose to be setup.
In any case I have copied all of the files into one folder, and they all
work fine now.
Thanks.

Hi all.
There are 2 things.
can someone tell me if I can do anything more with the sfx in fs2002,
ie get better ones or get stuff to do with sound etc?
Reason is that I find loads of graphics and other utils a load of
features I don't need but no real sound utils bar from pmsounds.
Another thing is although I am in the process of aquiring fs2002, I
don't have the books talked about on list, are these free books and
if so where do I get em.
also where do I get all the pateches for fs2002 and extra ms stuff for it?
The ms site as well as google does not bring up much but maybe I am
looking for the wrong thing.

there's a script . shift insert 8 to reply to sender in outlook express.
otherwise highlight the email but don't open it. press alt enter and when
the box comes up press control tab to go to details. then look for the

scot can you mail me off list as reguards to flight sim2002 I think I
may get the files off you if you don't mind.
also the books you mentioned.
I have everything else.
At 07:27 p.m. 4/09/2007, you wrote:

Okay, I've managed to get these files from wagner as my attempts to get
the
sim by other means was unsuccessful and I wanted to be sure I indeed got
the
right version. To answer some initial questions. Yes, there is a
 manual
for fsnavigator. Its an adobe file that is part of the main
 installation.
In reference to the other message sent to the list about the necessary
components, I've gotten the fsnavigator, pm sounds pluggin, the FSUIPC
pluggin and fs2002 to work reasonably well with jfw 8.0. That having
 been
said. I'll forewarn you now that if that window that holds fsnavigator
gets
positioned out of place by anything, it gets really hard to make the
pluggin
work as it should. The screen simply shows up with jfw reading blank,
blank, blank. I can tell you that I purchased the pluggin and it was
supposed to cost about $45.00 U.S. currency. Once the pluggin is
registered
I've found the unlocked features to be quite worth it. I will recommend
however, that if your going to try to use this thing, that you be really
good at keyboard reassignments as keyboard use to attempt to fly the
aircraft can and certainly will interfere with jfw operation. I'll also
forewarn you that I've had to read a good majority of the beginners
 guide
to
flying handbook, whitch is about 183 pages in adobe format. And a 75
 page
air traffic control guide. You will not, get this up and running within
five minutes and be able to play it as a game. If your going to enjoy
this,
you need to approach it as an aviation enthusiast. I also recommend the
use
of a joystick for easier control over the aircraft. I don't have one
 and
I'm really wishing I had one now. I've done a few autopilot runs with
bigger aircraft with reasonable success. If there is a definite
 interest,
I'll try to do a podcast and post it to blind cool tech or something.
 Take
 care all,
 Scott

[Audyssey] super Liam Speedrun is here!

2007-09-05 Thread Yohandy
Well not sure if this would be considered a speedrun, as I did make a bunch
of stupid mistakes in the game. I died 3 times, in very funny ways I'll let
you discover on your own. I also decided to show you guys what those
creatures are at the end of Volcano act 2, so naturally that wasted lots of
time. however it's the only run out there, so guess I'll consider it one
hehe.
If you guys want to try speedrunning it, follow these rules.
You can warp, but you cannot abuse the jump feature. This means only jump if
necessary, to get away from monsters following you, etc. Do not jump just
cause you can and want to save some time. and, do not use glitches or cheats
to get through the game. The run took 45 minutes 32 seconds to complete from
game launch, to X1's last hit. I decided to leave the credits and ending
sequence cause they're cool and I earned them *grin*. Let me know what ya
think of it, and what I could do to improve the run. I will keep trying this
run. Enjoy!

[Audyssey] frog chess pieces in sarah

2007-09-05 Thread Ann
Hi,

Ok, folks, how about another little Sarah hint, on or off list. I'm in the
chamber of puzzles now, with all those frogs, an the Frog King has told me
if I find a chess piece, I'll be allowed to pass. I found a Frogs Pawn chess
piece in Honeydukes. Is this what I need to use or, as usual, am I
overlooking something? How do I get past these frogs?

Thanks.

Want a mud where there's no PK? Want guns and grenades and cannons to kill
monsters with? Want a working pet system, and alot of things to kill? Want
to create your very own cyborg warrior? Well, try cyber assault!
This mud I newly started on is a mix of modern themes and shadowrun
concepts. Everything from reloadable guns to working grenades that can
 kill
a whole room of mobs, they are all here.
The admins are friendly, and they hoast quests for you to earn your quest
points with. Pretty everything's optional, if you want to RP, go ahead, if
you want to just sit back and blow up things, do that.
So check it out, the mud is currently quiet, but hopefully things will
 pick
 up soon.

 Hi,

I found a vocoder plug-in that works with goldwave. I'm having trouble

Re: [Audyssey] Kitchensinc games in vb6

2007-09-05 Thread nicol
HI thom
Jim might have answered you already but I'm going to answer you from how I
feel.,
Uhm, the answer is actually very simple. Jim made the winkit program
especially for those blind people who doesn't have any speech software. What
if a blind person is not computer literate at all and choose not to buy a
computer but can play kitchensinc games on a friend's computer, if jim
would go for the standard install, then the blind person would have to rely
on sighted assistance to guide him to the game he wants, now he can choose
the game he wants, he doesn't tneed either sighted assistance or a screen
reader.
Or say for instance a friend gives a blind person a computer for free such
as a birthday present, to play games on. The blind person will then use
jim's winkit very handy as its self voicing, it's a self voicing list of
games he can choose from.
Basically he just need sappi installed.
I hope my approach makes sense

Hi Jim,
Well, the new and improved compatibility chart should appear in the
fall/winter release of the Audyssey mag.
Cheers.

No no. You need to go through the teleporter, or you'll just be stuck at the
end of the level for days lol. What I mean is the shortcuts that take you to
the bonus games. I call them warps cause that's what they do, and they allow
you to finish the level faster

In case you guys ask where I got the manual from.
Long ago when the game was still for sale I wanted to make a choice between
super liam and tarzan so I asked the list for someone to send me those 2
games' manuals, so I can make a choice which one I will enjoy the most
because I believe reading a game manual gives me a little taste of how the

Hello blind guy
thank you! thank you! thank you!
I'm now busy downloading tj.zip. free download manager shows me the 109 mb
file is busy downloading.
I can't say enough thank you. I'm extremely excited to try out this game.
Today previously free download manager only shows that a 10 kb file was
downloaded, but now its downloading the 109 mb file successfully.
I've read the manual for the third time now. I can't wait!
I'm so thankfull, so enormously thankfull. Be assured of my thanks.
Its downloading successfully.
After many send space headaches I finally got it to download.
I don't think deleting temporary files and cookies solved the problem,
because I still got this send space error many times after deleting those.
And thanks ande for the patch, without it the game won't work at all.
And pass on my thanks to Philip for allowing you guys to distribute the
game freelly.
Once again thanks from the utmost bottom of my heart.

Once again thanks from the utmost bottom of my heart.

one thing I'd like if sl was ever updated was a bonus warp sfx just for kicks.

If you guys want to try speedrunning it, follow these rules.
You can warp, but you cannot abuse the jump feature. This means only jump
  if
necessary, to get away from monsters following you, etc. Do not jump just
cause you can and want to save some time. and, do not use glitches or

game launch, to X1's last hit. I decided to leave the credits and ending

i agree. Now now, i know how much work programming is, but, dont waste
my time saying he guys i am making accessible soft and then, when
we're all excited about it, ha ha, it was all a joke, i cant make any
scripts in autoit. and i know, according to Ryan Smith, alex is 13 or
so. And, ACEGames doesnt look like they're doing anything. Must've
died out, too? Well i know RSGames is still alive; I kep in touch with
Ryan and his brother quite a bit, and according to Andy, told me that
Ryan had made a little utility, they both agree its stupidd, its a
type in what you want microsoft sam to say program, so you type in
what you want, push enter and the output is played through your
speakers. or headphones, whatever.

[Audyssey] AudiOdyssey

2007-09-05 Thread Tristan
AudiOdyssey is an experimental computer game designed to be accessible to
both the visually impaired community and mainstream gamers. The user stars
as
Vinyl Scorcher, an up-and-coming DJ, on his quest to get club patrons
dancing. Swinging the Wiimote to the beat, Vinyl lays down the various
component
tracks of a song, and keeps the party jumping. If he does an especially good
job, he can even freestyle! But beware - if dancers get too rowdy, they're
likely to bump into the turntables, messing up Vinyl's tracks. Think you
have what it takes?

AudiOdyssey was developed with four research goals:

. The visually-impaired and the sighted can enjoy the same level and quality
of gameplay
. Navigate game's menus with ease and efficiency approaching that of
conventional UIs
. Create a fun and natural control scheme using the Wiimote
. An engaging game that relies more on high quality audio than visuals

well, if it works like it's supposed to you can add it as a plug-in in
gold-wave. then you can do, well all kinds of effects with it. I really
don't know so far I haven't gotten it to work. But gold wave sees it as a
plug-in and supposedly it should work.

[Audyssey] RS Games site and more RS Games important news!

2007-09-05 Thread Ryan Smith
From the Computer of RS Games
Hello,
I would like to inform all that my site is down. I am looking for a more
reliable host, but they do not accept registrations. Since I am in
school now and get homework I will have less time to do develop, web
design and everything else related to RS Games. I hope there server will
be up soon. If this problem last too many days, I will switch to a
temporary host. If you remember my old free host, freehostia, I may
update that if mb is down past a week. I will let you know about
future updates such as switching to a new host or the server is down.
If you would like to get my Type it in and let sapi 5 say it app, you
can contact me through the RS Games email.Or, you can wait. Also, I will
be updating to the final release of Guess the Voice soon. I decided to
forget all the betas and just jump. Some new features I expect is,
self-voicing. If you get wrong answers, you will keep going. At the end
it will tell you how many you got right. Also, if you win the game, you
are to email the code to RS Games email along with your name so I can
add that to the Winners Scoreboard. Keep in mind this is version 1, so
its stable. I will have future updates with features *possibly*! If you
have any additional features, please comment on them. And, to Alex, your
script has nothing to do with mine. It is completely different in Visual
Basic as any programmer will know. I don't steal scripts, I am sure we
all know who does or who was prosecuted at least. Also, remember that I
will be learning at a fast pace, because I read all the time. Okay?
From,
Ryan Smith, Head of RS Games!
Site currentely down.

Re: [Audyssey] vintage vocoder

2007-09-05 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Actually, it's my mistake. I did not realize you were discussing a
possible game sound making idea. In that sense it is game related although
a bit of a gray area. I apologize for Alex's message publically on it
since he decided to pretend to be a moderator. All in all, if it's game
related go ahead and post, but make sure to try and not stray too far into
just regular audio recording.

Thanks.

[Audyssey] Moderator warning regarding flaming

2007-09-05 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Consider this a public reminder that flaming is not tolerated on list.
It's ok to disagree and debate, but when the disagreement and debate and

Hi,
I downloaded this game yesterday, but haven't tried it yet.
However, I must caution you that the installation isn't accessible,
at least with JAWS, in that the prompts and buttons aren't visible to
the JFW cursor. It was created with a package called Install
Anywhere. I contacted one of the authors of the game, and he says to
just keep pressing Enter. Let's hope they use a different package in
a future version.
Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,

Re: [Audyssey] .Net 2.0 vs 3.0 and Vista support.

2007-09-05 Thread Charles Rivard
I use Windows xp Home, and plan to do so for as long as possible. As long
as it meets my needs, which it currently does, and until Vista's bugs are
worked out to a point at which it is reliable and user friendly to users of
jaws, no change here. I'll bet there are more users of XP than there are of
Vista, and that you should make your games usable to the largest segment of
the blind gaming market. Making a product usable for 25 while cutting out
the other 175 current users, in my opinion, would be a bad move. While my
numbers are most likely not right, you get the idea, I'm sure. Thanks.

Subject: [Audyssey] .Net 2.0 vs 3.0 and Vista support.

 Hi all,
Recently I've been strongly considering upgrading all my games to the
.Net Framework 3.0 in order to better support windows Vista which others
and I now are using on a daily basis. The plus side of doing this is
that all that will be required is installing or upgrading DirectX to
Aug. 2007, and then install my games on Vista.
The downside is that users using anything earlier than Windows XP will
have no support for my games. I've read that .Net Framework 3.0 only
supports, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP all versions, and Windows
Vista. Which means if there are any of you still using Win 2K it will no
 longer be supported.
First, I'd like to know if there are any of you out there using or
playing my games on Windows 2000. I need to know how big an impact this
would be updating to .Net 3.0.
Second, how many have upgraded to Vista, or plan to upgrade to Vista in
 the next year or two.
 Thanks.

[Audyssey] Video games' new frontier: The visually impaired -

2007-09-05 Thread Phil Vlasak
Hi Folks
I think this article is important enough for the blind community to post it
in full:
Video games' new frontier: The visually impaired -
from CNN.com
By Steve Mollman
September 4, 2007

. Story Highlights
. New interactive music video game developed for visually impaired
. Nintendo Wii's Wiimote controller or keyboard used to play
. Developers hope game will also be played online by mainstream players

Forget shoot-em-up addicts -- video games are reaching out to the rest of
us.

The greatest symbol of this is the Wii console from Nintendo. Its innovative
wireless control -- the Wiimote -- has even non-gamers excited as they swing
it through the air to control, say, a tennis racket on the screen.

Wii's Wiimote may play a pivotal role in bringing the visually impaired into
the electronic gaming fold.

But not quite everyone has been reached. One group is still largely ignored
by video game makers: the blind.

With that in mind, a team of researchers at the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game
Lab in Massachusetts set out this summer to make a music-based video game
that's
designed for mainstream players and also accessible to the blind.

Appropriately, perhaps, they incorporated the Wiimote into the game-play,
though it's optional.

The resulting DJ game, designed for the PC, is called AudiOdyssey. In it,
players try to lay down different tracks in a song by swinging and waving
the
Wiimote in time with the beats. Or they can just use keyboard controls.

The game reminded this writer of my lack of any rhythm whatsoever. I used
the keyboard version, where you're instructed to follow the beat by hitting
an
arrow key. Miss a beat and you get an ugly sound. Things sounded pretty
ugly. But I did start to get a little better after 15 minutes and was
awarded occasionally
by crowd cheers. It's a fun game. And I got a kick out of it.

So did 41-year-old Alicia Verlager. For her, though, the fun is a bit more
significant. She's visually impaired.

Play is one of the ways in which people build relationships, she notes.
It's fun to take on the challenge of a game and take turns encouraging and
laughing
at each other's sillier mistakes. That's the experience I am really craving
in a game -- the social aspects.

AudiOdyssey is presently single-player only, and there's no scoring system.
But a multiplayer online version will be released in a few months.
Intriguingly,
players in this version won't necessarily know whether their opponent is
blind -- and it won't make a difference in the game.

Ideally, they shouldn't even know that it is designed with the visually
impaired in mind, since we want to make a 'mainstream' game, says Eitan
Glinert,
a 25-year-old grad student at GAMBIT and the lead researcher on AudiOdyssey,
which is his thesis.

That said, after they find out that the game is designed to be accessible,
it increases awareness, he adds.

Though using the Wiimote isn't necessary, Glinert believes it's a more fun
and expressive option. From a development standpoint, getting the Wiimote to
work with a PC game (it's meant to be used only with Nintendo's Wii) was a
considerable engineering challenge.

And players who want to use the device will have to do a little extra work,
as well, including linking a Wiimote to a PC wirelessly via Bluetooth signal
(instructions on how to do this are included with the game).

Verlager believes AudiOdyssey's use of the Wiimote makes it unique among
accessible games. It's also, as far as she knows, the first accessible music
game
for blind players. A startup called All inPlay offers online games,
including poker, designed to allow play between blind and sighted users.

For Verlager, it's important that games be mainstream and inclusive --
rather than special and for blind players.

I really get frustrated with the way blind people are portrayed as if they
live in isolation from the rest of the world and have no sighted family or
friends,
she says.

Media, which includes video games, is something people share and
participate in together, a way of building relationships and exploring
feelings and attitudes
about real life, she says.

For now, AudiOdyssey is an early concept prototype, says Glinert. But
ultimately, we'd love to bring the game to consoles, he adds. If we get
the chance
we'll definitely move quickly on that.

The current version of AudiOdyssey is available for free at the GAMBIT Game
Lab Web site.

Re: [Audyssey] Kitchensinc games in vb6

2007-09-05 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,
Well, about saving space using a self extractor program verses a full
blown installation it really depends on the installation wizard you use.
For example, Microsoft's Setup Installation wizard, msi, is bloated and
you don't really seam to save much space when packing your game files
using it.. However, Inno Setup 5 has a feature that will allow you to
compress as you pack the files which acts not only as an installation
wizard, but as it packs them it uses similar compression methods as self
extractor, and does save loads of space.
I don't have a comparison between self extractor and Inno's compression
methods, but I can say Inno's compression is typically quite exceptable
for most developers and is widely regarded as pretty good.
Anyway, I've got allot of nice updates to my Vista compatibility chart
including some work arounds for playing the BSC games under Vista which
allot of user's will want to read.

Jim Kitchen wrote:
 Hi Thomas,

that sounds good about the new and improved compatibility chart.

As far as my game menu goes, well it may be cheaper now, but years ago I was
paying some money for limited web site storage and band width. I thought the
extra meg or so that the install program added was an awful waste, so I
thought that putting them all in one folder with a game menu like I wrote for
my dos computer would be a good idea. Then a friend told me about the WinZip
self extractor and it all came together. It still does save a heck of allot
 of space and band width.

Re: [Audyssey] Audio Game Programming Languages

2007-09-05 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,
Oh, I see. Yes, so what you did was buy JFW 3.5 with the SMA, and never
renewed your SMA with Freedom Scientific. Those need to be renewed at
least anually to be able to keep Jaws up to date with changes in the
software world. If you fail to do that then Freedom Scientific charges a
wopping upgrade price to get the latest version. Personally, I'd rather
just pay the extra $150 anual SMA fee to stay up to date then have to
fork it all over at once.
Anyway, I'm surprised you learned Visual Basic by experimentation. I've
always used books, and for my early learning I had professors etc which
gave lectures and were around to ask questions to. Now, days I sharpen
my skills or upgrade them using Safari's excelant programming online
library.
Anyway, I think we are beginning to really drift off topic, and should
probably start drifting the topics back to gaming.

Jim Kitchen wrote:
 Hi Thomas,

Yeah, I feel very fortunate that JFW 4.02 works so well for me with Windows
XP, VB6, HJ Pad, Gold Wave and the rest of the software that I like or need
to run, because I sure can not afford to buy JFW again. I bought 3.5 and the
whatchamacallit so that I got 3.7 and 4.0. Well 4.02, but as I said I sure
am glad that it works so well for me with VB6 etc so that I can continue to
 create games in it.

BTW I have never been able to learn from reading books. Have learned
programming by experimenting with code. The first was from the owner's
manual that came with my Texas Instruments 99 4A.

Re: [Audyssey] Kitchensinc games in vb6

2007-09-05 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Nicol,
I do understand your position, but there is a couple of flaws in your
position. First, most of the blind gamers out there do have some sort of
screen access solution like a screen reader or screen magnifyer. Second,
by default Winkit doesn't make a icon that I am aware of. So you have to
browse to the Kitchensinc folder anyway to launch it, or make your own icon.

nicol wrote:

I agree announcing a game company name, and then going back on it is

Allot of accessible game developers are hobbiests that program just to

yeah I got this game.
The installer is not accessible.

This game uses the jre, v5.0.
HOwever since i had jvm v6.02 I transfered that machine to the jre
folder overiding the other files used in the game and it runs ok.
This game is flash based.
Oh, dispite what it says about a 1gb ram requirement it runs ok on 512mb ram.
It takes a bit to load though.
and your firewall will ask for java to access the net for some
reason, but after that it seems to work.
Nice to see there are games going out like that.
I hope gambit release other titles in the near future.
Game is quite hard when the beats get complicated boring if not but
its good especially on a rainy day.

Hi Folks

Hi Charles and all,
Perhaps I wrote my initial email wrong or something, but the issue is
not about weather you are using XP. Weather or not I use .Net 1.1, .Net
2.0,or .Net 3.0 Windows XP will work with all of them just fine. So
there will be no compatibility issues with XP. I know fully well XP is
still the leading os, and that holds true nation wide sighted or blind.
the question was if any one is still using Windows 2000 and earlier
which .Net 3.0 does not support. The second question was if any of you
will be upgrading to Vista to take hold of the newer .Net features
though you can just as well upgrade them on XP.

Charles Rivard wrote:

as it meets my needs, which it currently does, and until Vista's bugs are
worked out to a point at which it is reliable and user friendly to users of

Vista, and that you should make your games usable to the largest segment of
the blind gaming market. Making a product usable for 25 while cutting out
the other 175 current users, in my opinion, would be a bad move. While my
numbers are most likely not right, you get the idea, I'm sure. Thanks.

 Hi all,
Recently I've been strongly considering upgrading all my games to the
.Net Framework 3.0 in order to better support windows Vista which others
and I now are using on a daily basis.
 Thanks.

 Hi Blind guy,
Sounds like one of my test applications. (Grin)
When I was experimenting with Sapi I wrote a little Swami Speaks program
where you ask it a question and then MS Sam speaks an answer from a
random set of choices. The answers all came off my toy crystal ball
which says stuff like You can be certain of that, Unable to see
clearly now, It's a sure thing, and so on.
It was especially funny when you asked it a question like does so and so
like me and it would answer something like, better not tell you now,
or, I better not answer that.
Anyway, it sounds like this is the stage of RS Games.

Re: [Audyssey] AudiOdyssey

2007-09-05 Thread Ron Schamerhorn
Hey all

Just gave this game a quick try and guess I didn't do all that badly.
It's quite easily navigated and only uses a few keys on the keyboard. I
could see where it might be more interesting using a controller though.
Also it probably wouldn't hurt if I were more into that style of music.
Wonder if there would be a suggestion in different genres of music for the
future.

Ron
