[Audyssey] Gaming Galaxy, frame free, and new direct URL!

2007-10-15 Thread Trenton Matthews
Hello everyone!
As the Gaming Galaxy seems to be the most popular spot on my web site,
and lots of people wish to share it with the world, I've decided to first of
all, the Gaming galaxy web site is now, and forever Frameless! No
creeppy ads to go through, and 508 compliant ! (well, gotta go through
bobby first. Thanks for the help there John!
http://7128software.com
And second, to make sure it stays accessible to everyone, new direct URL
is now here! Phil, you'll like this new address I'm sure... [grin]
http://gaminggalaxy.net.ms
And for any other gaming developers, if you have a list of resources for
games, please change to the new address if you haven't added the galaxy yet
to your list.
For anyone that goes through my web site itself to the gaming galaxy, I
haven't decided if I should keep the page in the web site frame or not...
Will see.
Talk to you all later!
PS. The signature in my emails will also have the new address, starting
after this one!

Hi all,
Is someone hosting the free Tarzan Junior file somewhere? I was always having
problems trying to download it through sendspace, and it has been taken off. If
anyone wants, I still have Showdown and Snake files.

[Audyssey] Sparkle rules question

2007-10-15 Thread Zachary Kline

Hiya,
I'm not sure if anybody perhaps still plays the game Sparkle, designed by
Michael Feir. If not, then I realize this question might go unanswered.
Perhaps this is just my ignorance in digging through the great thicket of rules
that is the game, but I'm not sure about the toughness of adventurers? What is
it supposed to be for combat and such? Is it 1, like a goblin, or something
higher?
Thanks in advance,
Zack.

Re: [Audyssey] I'm back, and a few games

2007-10-15 Thread Søren Jensen
Hi Clement.

Welcome back, and thanks for these good describtions. It's good to see more
posts about console games.

I have a few questions about Dinasty Warriors 5:
1: How does the savepoints works? I find it very anoying to walk around for
hours and search for savepoints. I love these games where you can save the
game when you want, or where it's easy to find the savepoints.
2: Have you seen some inaccessible things in the game, or is the game total
accessible?
3: Is there a good storyline and are there cool cutseens?

I'll maybee buy the game, but I need more informations first.

I have another cool game called Yakuza. I'll post a little review of it here
on this list if some of you are interested.

Come on guys, we want more topics about console games!

Subject: [Audyssey] I'm back, and a few games

 Hi folks.

For all those who know me not, I have returned. I am Clement, and have
been reading stuff from this list for a long time, however have not posted
in a while. A while, that is, to say, two years at least. haha. Anyway,
I'm back, and I have a few games that folks might like to check out if
they play console games. Each is mostly accessible, and most of these
don't need sighted assistance, for the most part anyway.

 Dynasty Warriors 5
This Chinese hack and slash puts you on various battle fields with a
weapon, and the objective is simple. Kill. Call it fighting force meets a
 historic backgrounds with no guns.

 Tekken 5
Tekken. What? Another one? In case people have already posted about this,
you can discard this particular game if you know about it already. But for
 those who don't...
The tournament as the King of Iron Fist tournament, or Tekken... which
translates into iron fist from Japanese, is being held again. But how is
this possible as the sponsor, Hehachi Mishima is supposedly dead? Grab the
game for a dose of information on this subject.

 The Bouncer
This awesome fighting game is one of few games that pits you from battle
to battle without having to walk around any, except for two certain parts.
Those require sighted assistance, but you could always risk learning the
paths. This game has a wonderful story mode, not to mention a great versus
mode allowing up to four players!

 And finally...

 Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
This vicious blood and gore edition to the mortal kombat series is a good
one. Complete with 64 or so characters, a much-improved comquest mode, a
car combat racing mode and a great custom fatality system all tie in to
make this one heck of a good game. Choose from all 62 original mk
characters, plus two new additions, Taven and Dehgon. Have fun learning
combos, projectiles, and air attacks. As well, see how viciously you can
finish your oponents with a custom created fatality!

That is the list for now. For samples and demos of these games you can
 simply go to
 http://www.brandoncole.net

There are various gaming samples, a lot of which are done by me, as well
as a lot of great demos of games that are potentially accessible. Hope to
be posting more actively soon! Best to all.

 Clement.

Agreed. I am afraid if I listen to much to the requests here on the list
and off it those requests will eventually make the game so easy no one
 will want to play it.
Poeple will complain the game is to easy, it is boring, there is no
replay value, and the sad thing is it would be the comunities own doing
by slowly but unconsciously recommending the removal of difficulty
afterdifficulty until there is little of it left.
Besides which it is a classic game, and by which we should be trying to
find ways to keep it as close to the original as possible not ruin it
 with modern ideas.

Re: [Audyssey] Quick Monty Announcement.

2007-10-15 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Will,
Unfortunately, it is a little late for leaving things as they are in
Beta 3. I spent most of Saturday/Sunday making those modifications which
I felt the end user's wanted, and it would be a bit of a painful
procedure to return it to the way it was.
Though, I have made some changes to the enemy AI and player's hit
damage which makes the game pretty challenging to play. Especially, on
insane levels of play.
One of the bugs I resolved was your non-agressive monster bug. In Beta 4
they shouldn't be able to run passed without them either attacking or
getting speared with a sword. The trigger code is such that if you are
landing on them the monster will be killed instantly rather than the
player if you have a weapon. I'm not exactly enthused about rewriting
that code to now make an exception to that rule.
So what I think we should do as a beta team is test it out, the purpose
of a beta, and see if Beta 4's changes is something we all can live with
or if the changes are such that things absoutely most be restored to
Beta 3 state.

Re: [Audyssey] Quick Monty Announcement.

2007-10-15 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Dark and all,
Actually, the solution I introduced into Beta 4 was a bit simpler than
the one being tossed about on list. Let me explain how I think
difficulty should work.
In the clasic Montezuma's Revenge, like allot of other games of the era,
any contact with a monster weather you landed on them or got attacked by
one ended up in instant death. The exception to that rule in the game
was if you were carrying a sword which was used to kill the skull or spider.
It was James North's opinion, as was mine, that most audio gamers may
have difficulties always avoiding monsters and set monsters up to do a
certain percent of damage with healing potions to restore health now
and then.
Well, as of Beta 4 I realised it was possible to do both for the audio
gamer.
On easy you can do it the way James North initially setup his version of
the game having monsters only do a percent of damage, and you can use
healing potions to restore your health and heal snake/spider bites.
On insane it is more like the classic Monty. Any contact with a monster
without a sword to protect you is instant death. I think this is a fair
compromise. New player's get a chance to learn the game, but expert
gamers can play the game with such restrictions lifted and the monsters
are down right rough and brutal.

Re: [Audyssey] New mobile phone games!

2007-10-15 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Darren,
Allot of this all depends on the operating system involved. Cross
portibility between smart phones is a pain in itself let alone using PPC.
Allot of folks don't know it but different smart phones use different
operating systems. Most smart phones come with Symbion OS, but there are
plenty of them with Windows Mobile, Linux Mobile, and a Java based OS
for smart phones. Which is just enough to garentee any app you write
will be restricted to specific brands and mottles of phones.
That is one reason I am not enthused about writing games for a smart
phone. There are many complications on maintaining compatibility with a
wide range of phones and manufacturers.

Hi,
I doubt it as well, but I haven't actually looked into the matter to
give an educated opinion on the issue. My guess is the first thing would
be to determine weather or not the PPC device and smart phone were using
the same os.

Hi Trenton,
Yeah,. It is also going to take allot of work after I release Monty and
Raceway to complete. I plan for it to be a true 3D style game, and that
will be additional work since I have to design a full 3D level with the
ability to climb up and down on objects, have rooms and corridors above
each other, b able to shift the ambience when needed, and work with
several different items and tools. The grappling hook for example is a
nice tool that will allow you to easily navigate difficult areas to
reach, but the logic in using it needs to be worked out on each level.

[Audyssey] Electronic Arts Games - Offer to Soren

2007-10-15 Thread John Bannick
Soren,

Just noticed the following September post from, I think, you:

Personally I wish EA games can be registered as a south African vendor
for accessible games, as I battle a lot to buy games overseas.
If I can buy a game such as sl through EA games, it would help a lot.

If you are interested, download our free demo Game Book and its 4 games
from www.7128.com and see if you like it.

If you do, let me know.

we can ship you a full CD and work out some arrangement to get paid, like
you did with Phil.

They aren't EA games, and may not be your cup of tea, but no problems.

2007-10-15 Thread Bryan Peterson
I totally agree there Thomas. I don't have a very reliable internet
connection at my new apartment but I am generally able to access the
internet several times a day, albeit for short periods. But I was able to
download beta 3 and I must admit I'm highly impresed. I fully understand
your desire to get the game finished by December, since from what you've
said before the thing was a mess when you took it over from Alchemy.
Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so.
