[Audyssey] Fifa 2008

2007-11-22 Thread ari
Hi guys,
Really can't understand this, for me, looking at this, FIFA 2008 is just as
bad as 2004 and the rest sort of. I unfortunately think nothing will again
ever come close to fifa 99. You can put the sfx softer, but that puts ball
and crowd softer, the crowd are very loud. When I take the base off my
speakers, I can sort of hear the ball, but it's not like 99 where you could
here the ball bounce and everything. I also can only tackle with the sliding
tackle, since using d to tackle, I can't hear it and by the time I've
realised I have tackled the guy, I've kicked the ball away, and, what's
worse, when you just kick straight after you tackle, it kicks the ball
towards your own goal, since the guy hasn't had time to turn round yet. Even
the sliding tackle thing is rubbish, because the boos and stuff are so loud,
you have to wait till a bit quieter to try and pass the ball. I also
couldn't hear when I was being tackled, trying to rely on commentary saying,
great defending, etc, but most of the time, I really didn't know who had the
ball. I'm really quite disappointed in the game, I'm so upset that I'll
probably never be able to play new fifa games properly again. My problem
with 99, is that I'd really sort of worked out strategies for doing
everything, and I really want to try something new. I can now beat the best
times on easy, but normal and hard are a bit fast, maybe I should try again.
Ari

Re: [Audyssey] the nuts detector in sarah

2007-11-22 Thread Phil Vlasak
Hi Nicol,
Oops, I made a mistake in my last message.
in the next patch of the Sarah game I have changed the nuts detector to an
object detector.
But even in the current patch3 version it is an Object detector, not a nuts
detector even though the game says nuts detector.
You hit O to turn this object detector on and when you walk through the
halls you will hear
suit of armor in four feet.
or trick step in two feet.
But if you try it in the Great Hall you will get ,
in 7 feet,
in 2 feet,
in 0 feet.
This is because I did not want it describing all the windows in the castle
over and over.
This feature may be handy when getting close to a door or unknown object as
it will try to name the object.
To turn this feature off hit o again.
Remember in the new patch4 the objects will not call out what they are over
and over but will make a sound appropriate to what they are.

 Hi Nicol,
I did want to have a nuts detector in the Sarah game but I could not get
 it
 to work correctly.
The way it works is you hit o once and it says nut detector on.
Then when you walk around it will tell you how far the nuts are.
You hit o again to turn it off.
I think you got confused by my earlier explanation.
I do not think this feature is important enough to spend weeks on getting
 to
 work right.

About the only way to do it if your trying to tune both comm 1 and two is to
do it through the squawk box window. I mainly just use comm 1 for all
practical purposes as your only dealing with one controler at any given
time.

2007-11-22 Thread Scott Shade
I just took a look at the rest of your message here. I'd be vary interested
to see if they accept your fs nav plan as filed as the plan that fsnav tends
to construct is different than the routes they recommend you fly. The
biggest problem I need to overcome is trying to figure out how to get the
routes from simroutes to import in to fsnav and still be accurate. If you
can work with vroute then You can export that plan to fsnav however, vroute
doesn't allow for the addition of the appropriate sids and stars where
simroutes can give you those. It also allows for the export to squawk box
so that the controlers will see your route.

Harry and his friends did not try to take or eat any food so you would not

I made the food go back to the party because I thought the ghosts would

 Hi list.
ok this is weird i created a flight plan but when i import it into flight

i hit f9 and i here a kind of rumble noise then a beep.
if i then hit f9 again i here a kind of click noise a bit like the sound

i've asked sighted friends but they can't seem to see any error boxes or

does anyone have any thoughts as to what this could be?
also i have another question in flight simulator is it normal not to have

not sure as scot didn't seem to have to do that in his podcast to get the

2007-11-22 Thread Damien C. Sadler
hi guys.
i have released a new version of blind man's bluff (1.3) on
x-sight-interactive.net, which should allow for the changing of the sapi5 voice.
on my system, it won't let me change the voice. i'm wondering whether this is
my system or whether it's the way i wrote the code that's causing the problem.
could you guys test it out please? and, if you're a vb6 developer, could you
have a look at the code please and tell me whether how i'm doing it is correct
or not?

thanks.

Regards,
Damien Sadler

[Audyssey] sarah and pack man

2007-11-22 Thread nicol
HI all
There is a particular piece in the sarah and pack man manuals on which I
want more clarity.
I'm quoting
++7.8 Scaring those Ghosts.
All right, the title of this subheading is the same in the sarah and pack
man manuals.
When you hear the voice of an approaching ghost or the sound that a ghost is
near, you will have the choice of running or attacking. This piece doesn't
make sense to me. You can't attack a ghost in pack man if you are in normal
power mode. If you are in super power mode, why avoid the ghost, why not
scare him away? Why would you choose to run away if you are in super power
mode? It would be stupid to do so. Why would it be sometimes advisable to
avoid a ghost rather than attack him while you are in super power mode?
In sarah this piece makes more sense, you have the choice of running or
attacking, you can attack by stunning the creature or by using a patronous
charm. By pressing the space bar, Pacman will tell you how many blocks
between you and the nearest ghost.
This is the same in the sarah manual, pack man is just replaced with sarah
and the keystrokes differs.
Make sure you stay at least seven blocks away!
In sarah it is 8 feet instead of 7 blocks. Or what if the castle floor is
made up of blocks? Here in south Africa the floors of some buildings feels
like little blocks.
You can find out the name of the ghost by hitting Control-spacebar.
There are four types of ghosts. These move slowest on the first level and
are not as smart. More than one ghost can attack you at once, so be
careful.
This is an example of a meeting with a ghost.
This is more or less the same in the sarah manual.
You hear the sound of an approaching ghost to your right but you don't know
how far. You hear a thumbing of an opening on the right, so you know that
the ghost is tracking you and may catch you at the corner.
You hear the sound of an approaching ghost to your right so you know the
ghost is in the corridor to your right, but you don't know how far. You
hear a wind sound of an opening on the right, so you know that the ghost is
tracking you and may catch you at the corner.
All right, the thumming of an opening is replaced with wind in the sarah
manual since a wind sound is denoted to indicate an opening but the
following piece puzzles me.
so you know that the ghost is tracking you and may catch you at the corner.
this piece is exactly written the same in the sarah and pack man manuals.
In pack man I get it a lot that a ghost tracks me and catches me at the
corner, but it never happened to me in sarah. Is this really happening in
the sarah game or did you, phil, per accident copied this piece from the
pack man manual like you did with the piece that says sarah is an arcade
game? Has anyone else experienced it that a ghost tracks you at the corner?
You hit the left arrow and you turn down the next left alley to the inner
ring away from the ghost that is now behind you. You hit control spacebar
and hear the ghost's voice say Pinky, and you know that she is the fastest
one. You hit the space bar and Pacman says 30 blocks. You know that Pinky
sometimes forgets where you are but she is still on your trail close behind.
Here the inner ring is replaced with staircase to basement and pinkie is
replaced with peeves.
If you don't hit the left arrow key fast enough, Pinky gets you and you yell
out in frustration as you lose one of your lives and end up on the starting
block while Pinky has gone some ware else, hopefully not too close.
Hear yelling out in frustration as you loose a life is replaced with you get
the feeling that you plunged yourself in a bucket of icy water and you
loose some magical energy.
If you had super power in the above example,, you would turn right and hear
the satisfying sound of Pinky floating away back to her home in the center
of the maze wile you continue down the passage with two thousand more
points!
Hear ghost home is replaced with somewhere else in the castle and super
power is replaced with patronous charm.
The word curs is not used in the pack man manual, its obvious since the word
curs is only applicable to magic.
But the following piece is missing, this is how it should look like in the
sarah manual.
hear the satisfying sound of Peeves cursing and floating away to somewhere
else in the castle. wile you continue down the corridor with more magical
energy!
i.e more magical energy instead of 2000 points!
You see phil, just because you copied several snippets from the pack man
manual makes the sarah game look like an adult pack man game instead of a
harry potter game.
The only mention of harry potter in the sarah manual is, uhm let me rather
quote.
All proper names from the Harry potter book series are trademarks of Joanne
Kathleen Rowling and the Time Warner
Entertainment Company, L.P.
This piece is right at the end of the manual after all the game
instructions. I feel that the manual should contain a notice like:
If you read the harry potter

Re: [Audyssey] pcsgames

2007-11-22 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jimmy,
From what I can tell it doesn't seam to be on the PCS Games web site
end of things. I am currently running my Windows Vista laptop on an open
access wireless connection at a relatives house and connecting
successfully everytime.
I'm not sure what exactly your connection problem is yet, but perhaps a
simple ping scan out to the pcs games domain might discover which end of
the packet transfer is getting dropped.
If you have never done a ping scan before for packet loss it is simple
to do. Just open the Windows command prompt and do something like
ping pcsgames.net
and will send packets to test the network connection and packet transfer
on both ends.

As I said earlier I was able to log in into Soccer manager then comes up a
list of options for example, history, club, matches and players, etc.
However when you click on the match that's where it isn't accessible. For
some reason I don't here any sound and I guess with flash animation you have
to see what is going on. That's not good for me since I can't see what's
going on with the screen. JAWS doesn't speak when the match is going on
either. However I can read the match report, but the reason why I signed up
for it because I thought it was going to have comontating in the game and
give you play by play,I thought you can here sounds for example crowd,
kicking the ball, and may more, but I don't here those things so like I said
before if some one knows more then I do then tell us what to do with Soccer

[Audyssey] Fw: assistance with a problem

2007-11-22 Thread Scott Shade
I emailed the admin of a site called simroutes because they have a database
of routes most likely to be used by virtual airlines and vatsim for the
online air traffic control services they provide. Since this is flight sim
related I figured that this information might benefit the gaming community
as a whole. Please don't deluge this guy with emails as he really doesn't
have much time to solve our problem and as you'll read on he doesn't have
the capability to solve it either no matter how much he wants to.

 Hi Scott,

When I originally started putting together the export feature, I had two
targets in mind; the 767: Pilot in Command (now the Level-D767) and FSNAV.
Unfortunately the FSNAV developer is tight fisted with revealing the
details/format of the FSNAV file. Unlike the other applications we export
to, FSNAV is not a straight text or XML based file. I did receive some
rather old (circa 98) instructions but decided against implementing it
 since
the format used by 4.7 has apparently changed significantly.

I was hoping that FSNAV would eventually release an FSX version complete
with an SDK of some sort. I'm not sure where they are at with that.

Your best bet might be software like Ernie Alston's FSBUILD which does a
great job of creating FSNAV flight plans. If you don't want to fork over
 the
$20 (well worth it) then there is an older free copy of FSNAV 1.x which
 also
converts to FSNAV. Yes I know this means forking out more money - or
 having
to use ANOTHER application, but unfortunately there isn't much I can do
about it at this time - regardless of how much I'd love to provide the
 feature for you.

Additionally I've had less than zero time for development the past few
months since child #2 arrived. I've got a list of feature requests as long
as the great wall of China, with close to no time available to implement
them. Perhaps my lottery number will come up next week so that I can
 retire
and spend more time on SimRoutes ;)

I really wish that someone else out there had an online application that
would convert route to the FSNav format but as far as I can tell only
 Ernie
(FSBuild) has managed to do it.

 Cheers,

Is it possible to add this as your routes seem to match up better with

Re: [Audyssey] Fifa 2008

2007-11-22 Thread ari
Hi Soren,
Isn't Madden American Football? I suppose Soccer manager would rather be a
management game, maybe should look for something else. I'll carry on trying
this, but don't expect much.
Thanks
Ari

Hi Ari.

It's sad to hear you don't find this game playable. What about other
football games like Madden or socker Manager?

 Hi guys,
Really can't understand this, for me, looking at this, FIFA 2008 is just
 as
bad as 2004 and the rest sort of. I unfortunately think nothing will again
ever come close to fifa 99. You can put the sfx softer, but that puts ball
and crowd softer, the crowd are very loud. When I take the base off my
speakers, I can sort of hear the ball, but it's not like 99 where you
 could
here the ball bounce and everything. I also can only tackle with the
 sliding
tackle, since using d to tackle, I can't hear it and by the time I've
realised I have tackled the guy, I've kicked the ball away, and, what's
worse, when you just kick straight after you tackle, it kicks the ball
towards your own goal, since the guy hasn't had time to turn round yet.
 Even
the sliding tackle thing is rubbish, because the boos and stuff are so
 loud,
you have to wait till a bit quieter to try and pass the ball. I also
couldn't hear when I was being tackled, trying to rely on commentary
 saying,
great defending, etc, but most of the time, I really didn't know who had
 the
ball. I'm really quite disappointed in the game, I'm so upset that I'll
probably never be able to play new fifa games properly again. My problem
with 99, is that I'd really sort of worked out strategies for doing
everything, and I really want to try something new. I can now beat the
 best
times on easy, but normal and hard are a bit fast, maybe I should try
 again.
 Ari

Subject: [Audyssey] blind man's bluff

 hi guys.
i have released a new version of blind man's bluff (1.3) on
x-sight-interactive.net, which should allow for the changing of the sapi5
 voice.
on my system, it won't let me change the voice. i'm wondering whether this
is my system or whether it's the way i wrote the code that's causing the
problem. could you guys test it out please? and, if you're a vb6
developer, could you have a look at the code please and tell me whether
how i'm doing it is correct or not?

 thanks.

 Regards,
 Damien Sadler
