[Audyssey] Entombed update

2012-05-19 Thread Keith Stormcloud Steinbach
I downloaded the full installation update and ran it, and now I have to get
full game from the main menu. I had set up an account when i first started
playing the free version, but it can't find my user ID and password on the
server...it tells me that I can use the paypal receipt number and I put that in
the edit box, but it still tells me that my account cannot be found.

Anyone have a clue as to what is wrong? Do I have to pay the $40.00 again to
get another full version?

[Audyssey] Entombed bizarre

2012-05-19 Thread Keith Stormcloud Steinbach
Is there any way to find out how much gold i am carryig in entombed when in the
gernal store or the bizarre?

And, on that note, in the dungeons, I sometimes enter a room through a door and
it says something about a weapons emporium, kobold run or something like that.
Is this important, or just some sort of landmark in the game. I've come across
a couple of these in the dungeons.

As for the Bazaar, you don't use gold, just trade coins. You can hear how
many you have by checking Bazaar Statistics. As for shops, when it tells you
you've entered one, press the apostrophe key to activate the shop menu.
You'll then be told how much gold you're carrying.

Re: [Audyssey] 2 question about entombed...

2012-05-19 Thread dark

Hi Bryan.

Sleep is fantastic if used right, sinse firstly the enemy is out of action
and not hurting you, leaving your party free to pile on other enemies and
leave the sleeping one until later, which means it's far easier to play
tactically. Also, the sleeping enemy will take double damage from any attack
while sleeping, and that's not counting the assassinate ability which can do
truly ridiculous damage to sleeping opponents, often koing them in one shot.

The only real problem with sleep is your stupid pet, sinse on the lower
floors of the dungeon the 8 damage your pet does is negligeable (indeed
usually opponents are so well armoured you'll be doing a lot less than
that), even when doubled to 16 for a sleeping targit, meaning often the
wrong enemy gets woken up with little bennifit, another reason why better
pets have been another frequently requested entombed feature.

Even with that drawback though, sleep is great for managing fights, and I've
had games where the bard is virtually carrying the party, indeed in one game
I played my party wass a very useless monk/healer, I was trying a multiclass
technique and magic character, but the lack of advancement of either sets of
stats and of mana meant they were pretty useless at both, a rather feeble
halfling ranger assassin who never had any ranged weapons that could get
through the armour of opponents, and a completely awesome half elf bard who
basically carried the party by sleeping and chalming enemies into
slaughtering each other.

That crew actually got to the final boss, and killed the boss herself with a
lucky break limb from the monk, however after that none of them could do
enough damage to get through the regenerative ability of one of the boss's
minions, so I had to abandon the hole thing which was most annoying.

Still, from that very weak party you should see how completely fantastic and
overpowered bards are.

Beware the grue!

2012-05-19 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Dark,

Yeah, I know. It seems to me your better off picking a race and job
with a lot of magic potential because you can do far mor damage with
an iceblast, firebolt, etc than a fully trained fighter. The only time
fighters are really good is if they are paired with a thief or
assassin job so they can perform sneek attacks. Otherwise a necro can
usually kill goblins and other creatures with a well directed iceblast
to the head. Plus can do heavy damage to undead creatures if their
skills are high enough. Then, add to that their ability to raise
goblins, ogres, and other undead enemies I just find necros to be one
of the best jobs to have.

I just wouldn't pick a Fairy as your primary character's race since it's so
easy for them to die. Besides, Fairies don't have Necro as an option. Guess

Re: [Audyssey] Audio Archery news.

2012-05-19 Thread michael barnes

Hey, I don't understand how apple keeps rejecting the app.
There are a few games that don't have anything on the screen, they just
have a blank screen.

I wonder if apple is starting to act crazy now that Steve Jobs is gone?
This is very interresting information.

Re: [Audyssey] Audio Archery news.

2012-05-19 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,

I'm honestly not surprised. Any time an audio game has to pass a
review board the first thing that shoots it down is the lack of
graphics and icons. Its hard to get an audio game to pass without
creating some nifty looking icons and maybe some kind of graphical
splash screen to look at even though the game is expected to be played
through audio means.

Cheers!

Hi Bryan,

Ah.No. I definitely wouldn't pick a Fairy for my primary
character. I usually go for something like an Elf which isn't as
strong s a human, but is adept at magical jobs.

[Audyssey] python help

2012-05-19 Thread Allen
Hello listers,

I'm using a Jaws 11 demo and I've installed Python version 3.2 on a Windows XP
laptop. I press control+n to start a new session. I can type but neither do I
hear anything as I am typing, nor can I hear anything when I press any of my
arrow keys. I am hearing absolutely nothing when I press any of the arrow
keys, not even blank.

Is there a Jaws setting I need to change or a Python setting I need to turn on
or off?
I'd like to begin learning the Python programming language.

Thanks

Allen

Re: [Audyssey] python help

2012-05-19 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Allen,

First, if you want to learn Python I don't recommend using Idle or any
other Python IDE as they generally aren't accessible. All you really
need is a standard ascii text editor like Windows Notepad. For instance,
if you wanted to write a simple hello world program in Python copy the
following code into Notepad and save it as hello.py.

#Hello World
#Version 1.0
#Written by Thomas Ward
print Hello world!
raw_input(Press enter to continue:)

When you click on hello.py it will display a simple text message, hello
world, and prompt you to press enter to exit the program. That's all
you have to do to begin using Python.

Second, is there a specific reason why you picked 3.2? The reason I'm
asking is if you want to do serious Python development the majority of
packages such as Pygame are for Python 2.7. So if you wanted to write
games I'd recommend Python 2.7.3 and Pygame 1.9. Most Python developers
have not moved to Python 3 yet so you could run into problems developing
certain applications as a number of packages and modules have not been
upgraded to support Python 3.x yet.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] Audio Archery news.

2012-05-19 Thread Willem Venter
This is why I stear clear of apple products. Even though they make a
nice phone and operating system, it's not worth it. They have too much
control over things that a normal user should be allowed to choose
about. What do they know about accessible games anyway?

You can't even change the battery of your phone or upgrade your
computer's hardware without violating their lisence agreement. You can't
program for IOS without using their propriotary tools that cost a lot of
money and then some know it all tech at the app store decides that an
audio game needs graphics.
