Re: [Audyssey] More on puppet nightmares

2012-11-27 Thread dark

Hi shannon.

Nope, it's played entirely through your brouser on the website.

All you need to do is navigate around the headings, links, buttons etc with
your screen reader in order to play. There are actually a great many games
like this, it's just that puppet nightmares seems a particularly good one of
this type, especially it's the complexity of it's battle system.

All the best,

Dark.

I just looked this up, and it does look interesting. From what I've
gathered, it's something you have to play through the site. Am I correct in
assuming that you don't use a client or app to play this game?

Hi kimberly.

As I said, I'm very much enjoying the game. it is complex, there is a lot to
know and a lot to take in, but all info is available at all times so you can
lways check up and things, and the game itself is great, with a dark
atmosphere and a unique battle system tht stays interesting for a good
while.

Just make sure your familiar with navigating around buttons, links, headings
and list boxes, and also can read mouse over text, sinse the pages use all
of these things especially the battle screen (see the puppet nightmares
entry on www.audiogames.net for more details).

another thing i like is the fact that though like several online games it
has a donation currency to buy some special items, you actually get a fair
bit of this in the game itself as well, just by playing, which lets those
special be accessible to everybody.

I'd recommend trying the game, and if you have questions just asking in the
in game chat.

Also, I'd ap[reciate myself if you used this link:

Ibrahim! I downloaded the Infocom collection that you sent to the list
recently, have read the
beginners' guide, and I recognise many of the commands from my Colossal Cave
days, and even the
suggestion of drawing a map of the location of rooms and routes was familiar.
Obviously, that was written for sighted players. Has any totally-blind one
found a way of doing the
same?
The colossal Cave is the only infocom game I have played and that was in the
days before I had
access to the internet so I used a floppy disk.
I would like to have a crack at the ones you made available, but how do you
start them? I thought
that there would be an executable file, but there isn't.
Is the winfrotz a separate program that I have to download? When I try to open
the files that are
marked with a z, the computer tells me that it can't open them as it has to
know in what program
they were created: do I want it to go on-line to get the appropriate software?
 I don't know what
to tell it.

keyboard,

it

simply makes the japanese characters display correctly. Then just
make
sure

you select japanese to english in google translate, do not use
detect
language as sometimes it tries to translate from chinese. Also note
that
there are easier japanese games to start with, this one is
difficult

to
translate because it has massive equipment, skill, spell and
tactics

lists
so you spend a lot of your time just translating menues. It can
also

be
hard

to figure out where you are on the battlefield and what you're
fighting
unless you want to translate every single square of coordinates.
It's
possible, but I'd recommend starting with another japanese game,
like
Bokurano Daiboukenn 2, which is already partially translated, or
Shadow
Line, which translates well and only has a few menues. Even
Bokurano

Daiboukenn 1 is easier to translate than this game.

Will make a note - and, a long time ago, on my first XT PC, think almost
spent more time than any other game ever, playing original hobbit game, and
do have the infocom version of that here as well, and, while posted that
link in it's own post/thread, here it is again - 120Mb:

Hi Jacob.

Ah now, that's a pity, the classic Infocom games are something worth
playing, I hope you'll chance your arm and test your metal with these, I
still enjoy them even though I've played and completed many of them years
before.

All the best and send the link to the archive as soon as you have it
uploaded.

Thanks, re: infocom, but, no worries - while don't play those types of
games

too often, do have winfrotz, filfor etc. here, and also have like a DHTML
instance of an IF handling app, so getting them to work isn't an issue -
just don't get around to it often enough...smile

Reminds me, must also spend bit more time playing around with colossal
cave
adventure, but, the android version, that's free, and also includes it's
own

TTS output.

Stay well

Ok, the zip file with all the files etc. is busy synch'ing with dropbox -
120Mb, so give it a bit of time.

And, yes, I did download a copy of your IF games collection...smile

Hi Jacob.

Do you mind sharing your folder of stuff? I recently shared my
collection of Infocom games and related materials for the benefit of the
community and would be delighted to let you have them if you want.

Hi Jacob.

Wuo, that brings back memories, the singing dectalk craze. I have a
directory on my hard drive for shit like this LOLOL, plenty of song
samples and even full length songs in there which I occasionally listen
to in an idle moment.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi Bryan,

LOL. That is funny. It sort of reminds me of the Dectalk skit that was
being passed around about 10 years ago where the Dectalk was singing
about commiting suicide. It went something like, I an't nothing but a
crummy crappy old computer. A crummy crappy old computer. Please,
erase my hard drive, because I'd really like to die. I don't remember
it word for word but it was funny.

Hi Jewel,

In order to play the ZCode games by Infocom etc you will need a
Windows interpreter like Winfrotz which is a separate download to play
them.

Cheers!

Ibrahim! I downloaded the Infocom collection that you sent to the list

 familiar.
Obviously, that was written for sighted players. Has any totally-blind one
found a way of doing the
 same?
The colossal Cave is the only infocom game I have played and that was in
 the days before I had
access to the internet so I used a floppy disk.
I would like to have a crack at the ones you made available, but how do you
 start them? I thought
that there would be an executable file, but there isn't.
Is the winfrotz a separate program that I have to download? When I try to
 open the files that are
marked with a z, the computer tells me that it can't open them as it has to
 know in what program
they were created: do I want it to go on-line to get the appropriate
 software? I don't know what
 to tell it.

to

know and a lot to take in, but all info is available at all times so you

atmosphere and a unique battle system tht stays interesting for a good
while.

Just make sure your familiar with navigating around buttons, links,
headings

and list boxes, and also can read mouse over text, sinse the pages use
all

of these things especially the battle screen (see the puppet nightmares
entry on www.audiogames.net for more details).

another thing i like is the fact that though like several online games
it
has a donation currency to buy some special items, you actually get a
fair

bit of this in the game itself as well, just by playing, which lets those
special be accessible to everybody.

I'd recommend trying the game, and if you have questions just asking in
the

in game chat.

Also, I'd ap[reciate myself if you used this link:
http://www.puppetnightmares.com/index.php?sh=23512
that way I get some bonuses as well, though if you bdon't want to that's
also fine.

any questions, just ask.

Dark, I've been looking at this and it looks GROOVY!It looks like a
lot of details, but I think I could handle it, having played D

yet?...How do you like it?

The
developer is great about access, and has fixed several issues within

I'll admit there is a learning curve sinse it's quite unusual to get a

recommend this.

Elemental weaknesses, a 3x3 grid with different formations giving
bonuses,
every creature havng equips, item building, it's all here!
