[Audyssey] student research list

2012-12-13 Thread shaun everiss

Hi.
This is a multi list multi post message sent to multipul lists.
You will be aware that over the last couple days I have been poling
the lists, gamers, nvda and a couple others on setting up a student
computer for a school or for internal use.
It appears that at least on a semi official point I have the profile
for the system.

To gamers list.
same as posted to the list still applies.
however all games that use headphones exclusively can't be done as
the user will not be getting those.

For everyone else, the only stipulation is that ms office be used.
I otherwise have a free hand and have control of the system for the
setup whenever it happens.

this does include putting nvda on it.
Thanks for answering my questions, seperate questions will be sent to
some of the lists shortly discussing sertain aspects.
I know there has been speculation on what this thing is used for or
will be used for.
I can't tell you much more than I could before except that the unit
is an old unit meant to be donated and trialed by students in a
sertain ariea to see how they go to the effect that if they handle
themselves ok with the device to get funding to go to the next
student and so on.
No time frame for this has been calculated and no idea on future
control but thats the gist of what the project is about.
The system was a private system and is for local use right now in the
ariea I live in well the citty.
I have been intrusted to set the stuff up for the initial control
phase, final setup will be done by the admins at the location that it
will be finally used at.

I assume that continued maintainence will be automated.
Or will be maintained by said admins.
Not that I won't try to make it as automatic as I can.
Thanks again for the assistance.
Messages relating to issues will be discussed soon.

Hi Liam,

Let's just say consider the source. I remember a certain someone who
accused Draconis Entertainment of goofing off, accused them of lying
about working on games for the Mac, etc and when Draconis finally
releases something of substance this same individual has the audacity
to complain about it. In short, there are some people you can't please
no matter what you do. You are darned if you do and darned if you
don't and there are certain people who aren't worth cow dung.

 I'm done now.

Hi Dark,

To be honest I'm not sure. A Thinny could be referring to pennies that
have been flattened. A lot of kids in the U.S. will lay pennies on a
railroad track and collect them after they have been smashed by a
train. After being smashed by a train they are extremely thin and
perhaps twice the diameter it was before it got squished. Lol!

Hi Tom.

that is true, though myself I wouldn't quite considder castlevania or mega

structure, (indeed only the first mega man game ever had a score system).

Rethinking my game perchices now, I probably wouldn't buy troop 2, though i
would possibly still buy hunter and pipe 2. i probably also wouldn't buy
dyna man and maybe even not alien outback for the same reason, though the
amount of sounds and environments in the pinball games from esp would likely
make me buy them even now.

[Audyssey] Looking for Game Help

2012-12-13 Thread Blind Treasures
I am looking for a game that I used to play a long time ago that kind of
reminds me of Alien Outback. You shoot different space ships that are coming
down from the top and each level gets a little harder. Unlike Alien Outback
though, there is one level where you have to try to land your ship to get
extra points and when you reach the last level in that particular game, you
have to fight a mother ship.
I can not for the life of me remember what that game was called. Any help

[Audyssey] Change Reaction thoughts

2012-12-13 Thread Karl Belanger
Hi all,
I bought change reaction and have been playing it quite a bit. Here are my
thoughts:
Classic: If you've played the windows game before, review the keyboard commands
in the instructions and dive right in. It's the exact same game. A few keys
have been reassigned, but that's about it.
Loose Change: This one's just like classic with one big exception. When a bomb
appears, if you do not play the proper coin on it in time, or if you play
another coin, the bomb will scatter all the coins in that stack across the top
of the other stacks, leaving that one empty. It's a lot of fun and can get
really crazy. There's one thing that I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature.
For a large portion of the game, more than half, there is a bomb on the screen
just about constantly.
Payday: This one's quite different. You only have five stacks to work with, and
only one coin in each. The objective here is to build up large stacks of coins,
then blow them up, while trying *not* to clear the board. If you clear 40 coins
in unique positions on the grid, you get two more stacks which each fount
double. The idea is that each stack represents a work day and each position in
that stack represents an hour in that day. The two stacks you get later are the
weekend days. This is probably my favorite mode in the game.
Lastly, I did find one bug. It is possible to pause the game during the level
introduction announcements. However, when you resume, the timer is set to 0 and
the game ends immediately.
As to the discussion of a demo version, I think one would be a good idea to
allow people who aren't used to this type of game to give it a try. One wayy
Draconis could do this is to release a separate light version on the app
store, which would be restricted. The second, and I think better, way they
could release a demo is to have one app in the store that is available for
free, and would only have the demo until the full game is unlocked via an
in-app purchase.
For anyone who has access to a mac, and found the windows version even mildly
interesting, I highly recommend it. If you've never tried the windows version
or don't have access to a PC, I recommend Change Reaction if you like games
that force you to think strategically under pressure.

Re: [Audyssey] Announcement from Draconis Entertainment

2012-12-13 Thread Draconis Entertainment

Just to add to what Tom has said…

Technically, Linux versions might be possible, but the level of work that would
need to be put in, on a platform that we have no interest in, would not be
offset by the rewards. The number of users of Linux is dwarfed by Mac and
Windows users. It is the same sort of situation as Android. We would be looking
at a lot of overhead, for very little, if any, gain.

Hello tony.

Actually, troopanum and troopanum 2 are the two space based games in which
you have a laser gun and shoot down spaceships attempting to land and
destroy your star base.

In troopanum 2 there is the lander bonus round, and you are fighting
against lord vector, see http://audiogames.net/db.php?id=troopanum2 for full
info on troopanum 2.

I can see why you assumed troopanum was a military game (I have no idea why
it was called troopanum), but I can assure you taht both games are
futuristic.

I believe the game your talking about where you shoot down hellicopters etc
is either enemy attack or judgement daybut that has nothing to do with
troopanum.

Check the link to the audiogames.net db page for more info and links.

hth.

all the best,

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] Change Reaction thoughts

2012-12-13 Thread Draconis Entertainment

There are much more frequent bombs in the LooseChange game by design.

Thanks for the Pause game bug. We have an update being submitted to Apple today
and will try to sneak this fix in before it goes out.

I did want to point out that, while the game mechanics of Classic are the same,
a lot of the feedback has changed, for anyone interested. We've made the pitch
of the coins on the board change to indicate the height of the stacks. There is
a horizontal trigger sound to let you know when a horizontal match is
available, and the review mode is much faster and more fluid to use effectively
than it ever was in the original…among other changes.

HTH.

something that is red, blue, or green. And with a name like change
reaction coin names are more appropriate.

ah, thanks bryan, I've never heard of that at all.

As I said I'd actually appreciate some alternative coin names, perhaps
just numbered tocans rather than the american ones which obviously I'm
less familiar with, indeed to me, playing a tetris type game would be much
more logical with coloured tocans such as blue red green and white all
with unique values than with coins.

It probably also didn't help that the half-dollar was called a fitty in

Yep. Fitty from what I heard was a spelling mistake somewhere that sort

Lol!

I'm pleased to here of the horizontal and review fixes, sinse that was
personally always my issue with the game that I had no way of telling what
was on the nearby stacks and thus always seemed to be just chucking one coin

couldn't find one.

I look forward to the windows version sinse that sounds far more the tetris
type game I imagined from the description than just a random action
scramble.

There are much more frequent bombs in the LooseChange game by design.

Thanks for the Pause game bug. We have an update being submitted to Apple
today and will try to sneak this fix in before it goes out.

I did want to point out that, while the game mechanics of Classic are the
same, a lot of the feedback has changed, for anyone interested. We've made
the pitch of the coins on the board change to indicate the height of the
stacks. There is a horizontal trigger sound to let you know when a
horizontal match is available, and the review mode is much faster and more
fluid to use effectively than it ever was in the original…among other
changes.

Hi all,
I bought change reaction and have been playing it quite a bit. Here are my
thoughts:
Classic: If you've played the windows game before, review the keyboard
commands in the instructions and dive right in. It's the exact same game.
A few keys have been reassigned, but that's about it.
Loose Change: This one's just like classic with one big exception. When a
bomb appears, if you do not play the proper coin on it in time, or if you
play another coin, the bomb will scatter all the coins in that stack
across the top of the other stacks, leaving that one empty. It's a lot of
fun and can get really crazy. There's one thing that I'm not sure if it's
a bug or a feature. For a large portion of the game, more than half, there
is a bomb on the screen just about constantly.
Payday: This one's quite different. You only have five stacks to work
with, and only one coin in each. The objective here is to build up large
stacks of coins, then blow them up, while trying *not* to clear the board.
If you clear 40 coins in unique positions on the grid, you get two more
stacks which each fount double. The idea is that each stack represents a
work day and each position in that stack represents an hour in that day.
The two stacks you get later are the weekend days. This is probably my
favorite mode in the game.
Lastly, I did find one bug. It is possible to pause the game during the
level introduction announcements. However, when you resume, the timer is
set to 0 and the game ends immediately.
As to the discussion of a demo version, I think one would be a good idea
to allow people who aren't used to this type of game to give it a try. One
wayy Draconis could do this is to release a separate light version on
the app store, which would be restricted. The second, and I think better,
way they could release a demo is to have one app in the store that is
available for free, and would only have the demo until the full game is
unlocked via an in-app purchase.
For anyone who has access to a mac, and found the windows version even
mildly interesting, I highly recommend it. If you've never tried the
windows version or don't have access to a PC, I recommend Change Reaction
if you like games that force you to think strategically under pressure.

Once you put that penny on the railroad tracks and have a train run
over it the coin is pretty much ruined. You might start out with a
coin the size of the penny but after it gets smashed by the train
wheels it is about the diameter of a half-dollar and it is paper thin,
and the face of Abe Lincoln is messed up beyond recognition. Besides
that the coin is bent and warped so it would never fit in a coin slot
or in a cash drawer again. :D

Hi tom.

I believe what I was hearing as thinny was what brian said was called a
fitty, which would explain the mistake, sinse I don't imagine squashed
coins

are legal tender anymore :D.

Beware the grue!
