[Audyssey] OT: Can some iPhone/iOS users test a webpage for me
(firstly, I did make sure it was alright with moderator/Thomas to post this to list) Anyway, I know there are quite a few iPhone/iOS users on this list, and I have a specific bit of a webpage/web content type I would like to have tested as working, or not, by some iPhone/iOS users, and the idea is that this allows me to use dynamic page content manipulation to also include/implement real-time sound effects in these pages, which I could then use to put together smallish audio/blind-type games, etc. etc., among other possible uses. Anyway, if you have the chance to, and do test the following page for me, please respond to me directly at the following e-mail address, since this isn't really directly on-topic for this mailing list: ja...@blindza.co.za And, lastly, the webpage, which lets you type numbers 0-9 in a text box, and then triggers real-time drum sounds playback (might have a very slight lag on first time you play a specific sound, but, thereafter should really be real-time) is here - and have already tested this as working fine on my PC, a linux machine, and my android phone: http://www.blindza.co.za/sm2/ TIA Jacob Kruger Blind Biker Skype: BlindZA '...fate had broken his body, but not his spirit...' --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Moderator Appropriate Subject Lines Warning
Hi Charles, No, you are fine. I won't name names here, but its obvious which messages of late have inappropriate subject lines such as Gamers Digest Volume X or no subject line at all. Its mainly to those list members my moderator message was directed at, but wanted everyone to take notice that subject lines is a rule we are going to be really enforcing now as it makes it difficult to look up information when it is miss identified by the sender. For example, Nicole asked about a game, Phrase Madness, and wanted to know the URL where to download the game. For the life of me I could not remember the address, and attempts to Google it failed. So I went to the list archives and found it in back issues of the list archives. I couldn't have found it easily if the subject of Ken's message had been misleading or there was no subject. As it was I put in the search key words for a subject containing Phrase Madness and came up with the original announcement and the URL Nicole wanted. Therefore good subject lines is very important for looking up information like that. On 4/4/13, Charles Rivard wrote: > I appreciate your possible efforts in this matter. I figure, no subject > line? Re: [Audyssey] Look Tell game for iOS.
Thanks Thomas! that really means a lot! Yes, the only other app I know of at present for iOS, is called VoiceOver Starter and assumes the user already has quite a bit of familiarity with VoiceOver and all the gestures necessary to work with it. So the niche we're working in is the new user whom may be learning about an iDevice or has just gotten one. With the gamification scenarios, we also open this to the advanced user whom might want some free little games to pass some time. What's your opinion on the accessibility of Android at present? We'd love to bring our apps to that platform as well but so far, the real honest accessibility for new users just hasn't seemed to be viable or really that great as compared with iOS. We're hoping this changes soon so I'm wondering what your opinions are on this as it stands right now?… Thanks bunches! Re: [Audyssey] Error when trying to launch entombed.
HI, Strangely enough, someone on the entombed mailing list is havign possibly the same problem. So I have pasted the solution below: You're likely missing the SQL Compact 3.5 SP2. First, you have to uninstall the version that 1.02x installed, likely SQL Compact 3.5 SP1. Then you have to download the newer version from Microsoft and install the items appropriate for your system. The link to the self-extracting archive for SQL Compact 3.5 SP2 is located at: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5783 Run this exe and have it extract to some place where you'll be able to find it easily, because that's the next step to browse to the location you just extracted to. You'll notice there's three files, install.txt, SSCERuntime_x86-ENU.msi, and SSCERuntime_x64-ENU.msi. Depending upon whether you have a 32-bit version of Windows or 64-bit, the install procedure is a bit different. If you have a 32-bit Windows, then just run SSCERuntime_x86-ENU.msi. If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, you must run SSCERuntime_x86-ENU.msi first, then SSCERuntime_x64-ENU.msi. These same instructions are found in the install.txt file. If you're not sure whether your Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit, there's a couple easy ways of finding out. Bring up Windows Explorer to show the list of files and folders on your computer's c: drive, which is where most people install Windows. If you have both a program files and a program files (X86) folder, you have 64-bit Windows. Also check your Windows folder, if you have a syswow64 subfolder, then you also have a 64-bit version of Windows. Otherwise, if you only have the one program files folder and no syswow64, you're running 32-bit Windows. Once you've installed the SQL Compact 3.5 SP2, try running Entombed 1.05b again, and let us know if you have any more problems. hth - Original Message - From: "Lori Duncan" Sent: Thursday, April 04, 2013 9:54 AM It's the latest version of Entombed I'm trying to run. Re: [Audyssey] Error when trying to launch entombed.
Hi Lori, SQL stands for Structured Query Language. Its a programming language specially developed for designing and managing large databases. In this case MS SQL is Microsoft's SQL engine which Entombed uses for managing large databases of information. I don't know exactly what data is stored in MS SQL by Entombed, but the basic reason Entombed needs it is that recent versions of Entombed now stores large amounts of data in Microsoft's SQL database engine, and won't work without it. Cheers! Re: [Audyssey] looking for a mud client
I'm not really sure what the problem is here. As long as you have the output window plugin added to the mud you're trying to play, Control Alt O should indeed work. It sounds like your version of MushZ got corrupted somehow. Just so you're aware. MushZ is not actually a client in it's own right. The Sound pack used for Alter Aeon is called MushZ, but the client itself is actually called MushClient and was not built spacifically for alter, isn't even by the same developer. I think the developer of the MushZ pack has done some slight modification to the Mush Client, some of them very unfortunate like disabling the ability to preload worlds from files when creating new muds, but yeah, the actual client itself was not made just for alter. You could try getting the original MushClient installer, installing it elsewhere so as not to mess with any of your alter stuff, and then adding the plugins like output window and MushReader, they will all still work. MushClient is very easy to find just by googling. -- From: "Keith" Sent: Thursday, April 04, 2013 01:57 AM To: "Gamers Discussion list" Subject: [Audyssey] looking for a mud client Hi, have been playing AlterAeon for a while, want to try my hand at some of the other genres out there. Mush z was apparrently made for use with alteraeon, and to that extend, it kicks butt. But, when I try to get the outpout window to open in a way to allow me to cut and past info from it, or to save it altogether, it throws an error message saying something like missing shortcut or something like that. I'm talking about the control tab combo on this one. In the alteraeon game, on the Mush z channel, I was told that toggling the outpout command (control alt O) would allow this to occur, but the error persists. So, I'm in the market for another mud client that will allow me to do this, along with simple in game things like mush z allows, like repeating a command with a simple push of the enter key. Apparrently, VIP mud does not allow you to do this. I'm probably wrong, but I hav'nt found a way of doing this as of now. [Audyssey] /Roll Playing Games was Gamers Digest
Hi Nicole, Besides Puppet Nightmares you may want to look at a game called Sryth found at http://www.sryth.com which is the closest thing to tabletop roll playing games accept it is browser based. The game Alter Aeon, not Alter Ego, is a mud which is a type of roll playing game played through a mud client. There are many of these types of games and you may want to check http://www.mudconnect.com for a list of popular muds to join. P.S. Nicole, If you're interested in multiplayer RPGs, you might want to try Alter Aeon. Re: [Audyssey] need help with chess
Before buying one, make sure that you can correctly identify the computer's moves by word of mouth from others or by listening to the chess computer. Try before you buy. Although I can determine the computer's move through sounds, I could also use a light probe to find the lit LED in the corner of the activated square. The computer that use most often is the Novag Citreen, (I'm sure that I am misspelling that, though). You can find it at www.classicchessandgames.com For modification, I bought the strip magnet rolls at Wal-Mart for a couple of bucks. -- If guns kill people, writing implements cause grammatical and spelling errors! - Original Message - From: "Thomas Ward" To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Thursday, April 04, 2013 1:08 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] need help with chess Hi Charles, Neato. Re: [Audyssey] a question regarding aprone's games
I'll also add that the links to aprone's games both on his own page and on audiogames.net, are always the latest version because A, he doesn't keep past versions of the setup files around and B, though he does update the programs, he keeps the names of the setup files the same, thus swampsetup.exe has always! been called swampsetup.exe right from the early versions onwards. this of course makes maintaining the audiogmaes.net pages much easier since I don't need to constantly update the file download links everytime there's a new version as I have to do with some developers who include the version number in the file name, not that it's a big deal to update one link and I do see the point of including version numbers in file names so people can check when they've got the new version before installing, still I'm lazy so appreciate doing less work :D. The only plug in I have set up for the game is Mush Reader. When I try the control tab combo nothing happens. When I tap the control alt O combo to allegedly enable the output function, it tells the that ththere is an issue with a missing shortcut. I have no problem using the output wing (control Tab) in alteraeon, and have attemped to use the same plugins as alteraeon with cyberassault (minus the ones, such as the alter aeon plug in that explicitedly says not to use in other games). I get the missing shortcut error with those "installed also". When I try to enable some plug ins, it gives me an error when I am in the plug in window anyway. Can someone check their mush z setup for cyberassault and tell me what plug in they have installed and then what key stroke they use to get tot he one that i can reach in alteraeon (control tab)? Re: [Audyssey] Nearing over three weeks.
hmmm I wander if its not something more serious their support is full their boxes since last year end of anyway. I registered pipe2 and I had a record issue the year before I was able to get in touch and have it fixed. However, most other games work. I am due for an upgrade, but its strange that they have just gone offline. even their blog is silent. The last entry released ages ago was that justin was quite busy that was in june last year though. I vary much doubt blindsoftware would just up and go. unlike bavisoft they have been in the core companies, and you don't just up and go for no reason. Justin does have a twitter I don't know what it is but if you can message him through that maybe then. The only other possibility is that blindsoftware has hit some snag outside their control and they have had to stop or forced to be set back for an unknown period. Ofcause a lot of devs these days don't announce unless they have anything so they can act like they are gone for ages and people will start releasing registrations to their games thinking they are dead and they come back. Saying that, I have not heard anything on the primary ag forums and no one seems to worried but maybe dark or someone can looky at this its strange.
