Hi Jim, Yes, you can still search for a part of a file name, and of course you can use wildcard characters like a star to substitute for letters and numbers that might change such as foot*.wav to search for all the sounds from foot0.wav to foot25.wav etc. If you bring up Windows Search with Windows+f you can tab to the directory tree view and select which directory to begin searching etc. So I'd say the same functionality is there in newer versions of Windows but it is slightly different from XP and earlier. well the search feature won't always find everything, I had to do weird things to get supernova to even start normally things like rebuilding the indexes and pinning the program to the task bar. however after that was all said and done it works. However I am happy I have still a native xp system to fall back on. Hi Thomas, Cool, thanks, I'm glad to hear that you can still use the Windows search feature like that. I really need that for searching my sound effects folder when looking for sounds for games. My Jaws does not read it to me, but I was told that on Google a couple of lines below the edit field it is guessing and auto completing while you are typing. Kind of unsettling when it seems like it heard what you were talking about and now are looking up. grin But it sounded to me that is some what what the Windows 7 search feature is doing now. Hi Lisa, Sorry to hear that you got soundly thrashed in Puppy 1. That happens to me some times as well. The enemy some times is just very hard to get caught up to and lined up on to shoot at. Stuff like that will happen when it is all random. Thank you for saying that you still like the game though. BTW Puppy 1 was the name of the first model airplane that my Dad designed, built and flew. It was a biplane. Most of the model planes that he built and flew were from kits. Puppy 3 was not a biplane, but it was very fast and had air brakes. I could never see well enough to fly model planes, but have about a dozen remote control cars. Hi Josh, As far as I know there isn't a way to get Dosemu to play sounds while running as a dumb terminal. I also run Dosemu with the -dumb -t flags and getting the text output for me is fine. I don't really care about the lack of sound output as long as I can play games like Piledriver or Eamon with Orca or Speakup. Hi Josh, I am running Ubuntu 13.04 using the Espeakup speech driver. It isn't easy to get up and running but can be done. If you want to use Vinux 4 you could do that. when my friend jason comes over I got a USB floppy drive coming the mail. anyway he found his old copies of carl nipla's any night football harry hollingsworth's world series baseball mobius mountain shoot98 cops98 all registered copies. we're gunna stick the disks in, get all the files off them put them into folders and try and play those games either in linux under dosemu or in a windows xp virtual machine so the game's sounds will play. too bad we can't have a dos screen reader with software speech running in dosbox emulator under windows7. like asap or jaws for dos with espeak. that would be excellent. well its interesting you should mention this. I just got a personal mail from frank of eamon deluxe. he is working on several editers both windows and dos for the eamon project. one of these is a distro build of debian wisi which he plans to make accessable for msvpc and vmware opendata format. So this is interesting. Now I have only just aggreed to this stuff and have not seen anything of the code, but essentually the distros would be custom built for the eamon system. and other things. so you are welcome to looky at that thing. [Audyssey] my own server
Hi I set up my own road to rage server here is my config file joshkennedy.no-ip.org welcome to my road to rage server. 1 1 6789 20 100 1800 1 1 1 0 password 1 6 60 but when I try to connect I get a connection error running windows7 64bit pro. My laptop is connected through wifi I have a comcast modem router all in one box. Hi well following directions from someone I went in and did an ipconfig /release to release my IP. then went into the router entered the following into port forwarding box ip: 10.0.0.4 ports 6789 6789 in both of those boxes. hit save. seems to have worked but still I can't connect to my own server even when I enter the name and or IP in the game's server box when starting to play.
