Hmmm,Ffproject shouldn't have given errors but as I said I have no idea
 how
 this braillenote thing works.
Age of fable is very simple there is a button called begin pregenerated
character at this point just choose what sort of characters you want to
play, read their stats and hit the links.
on chronicles of arborell there is a click here for access section which
tells you about the gamebooks and the world, start with windhammer.

On project.aon, just go to the link that says
On project.aon, click where it says view and download the books and you
will get the full series of lone wolf books, start with the first flight
from the dark and when your asked to choose a format try the simplified
 html.

 hth.

The message sent was not 400 MB.. The confusion here is because when
it opened up in someone's e-mail client it used 400 MB of ram on that
person's computer but the message itself was not that big.

Re: [Audyssey] jim kitchens archive

2015-08-11 Thread Kaveinthran Pulanthran
hi, do you have the original site archived?

On 8/8/15, Shaun Everiss sm.ever...@gmail.com wrote:
 Hi all.
I just did a quick and dirty hack on the archive as I am going out.
Someone can write up something on jim for it if they want and put it
 somewhere.
Right now since there are things I can't do with it I have left most of
 the archive intact.
 1. you will need to run winkit to install winkit.
However to be honest if someone ever finds the source, in theory we
 could leave winkit out completely.
if all games could be made to save in their own folder that would rock.
I have not included the vb6 runners but winkit has them in its installer
so as long as you load that in the right place as well as all the other
self vvoicing games that will be ok.
you may notice that all games are unzipped in the archive.
This is to get round all the exe files with admin errors, I havn't moved
the monopoly, golf and trivia data files into their respective folders
for games which was quite stupid of me and I should have done it.
The dos files I have moved for trivia to their seperate directory for
trivia but only because the trivia files were uncompressed and in my face.
I have included the guess the number vb project to.
Note the xp speech and speech full and other sapi repair tools I did not
include due to them being for an older os and such.
I didn't include the install text either.
I did manage to include the personal page in htnl.
This is v1 off the archive, I am just snap posting it up here so we can
 have it like that.
Idealy, we should either have menus with every game in it or just not
have the menu at all, and have games written out in long description for
 their titles in folders.
I'll leave that for someone to handle.
This share can last for as long as dropbox will allow it to be
downloaded but if I get my links suspended because of traffic it will
 probably go down.
The other thing will be if I get more projects requiring space.
That may or may not happen but right now I don't think I will need more
things that would use all the space.
the file is a zip file 124mb in size.
I included what I thought appropriate.
If someone wants the origional archived site without any modifications I
can get it down tomorrow and upload that.

Hi Anouk.

Those did occur to me, however sinse Roshta is using a braille note taker
that only displays plane text and images, I don't know how well it'd handle
either of those websites.

chooseyourstory has lots of javascript and specifically written controls,
and while choiceofgames is theoretically plane html, it's limited in terms
of browser choice plus has lots of radial buttons and such.

Of course I'm making a complete guess here sinse as I said I've never used
one of these braille note taker things myself and could be entirely wrong,
however when I suggested age of fable and chronicles of arborell I wasn't
just thinking of online gamebooks, but also of stuff that isn't too complex
as far as html controls go.

Hello Dark,

Sorry for the late reply, was testing and trying to play on white stick. Well,
if anyone wants a challenge, find accessible stuff with windows CE. The warrior
game, was a nono. If I disabled javascript, it said my firewall prevented the
log in. Then, I logged in. But things like movement, or attack, I have no
clues. But the fact that you can upload images, don't help. There are some that
might be accessible, but things like sports, etc, don't fit my interest. I
found another: http://www.twilightheroes.com/

This could be accessible, if someone can help out. Some require a capcha, well,
that's a nono. Some didn't have the log in, or register button showing, its
hard. I'm not giving up, though, I'm just about to try the links some of you
gave.
Thanks for the help, though, its actually interesting.

Yes, that is what I was thining.
There are several of those sorts of things kicking around, though ie6 on a
 note taker might be interesting.

If you go to www.whitestick.co.uk you can find a list of games to play
online that includes various accessible games. I would personally recommend
several on that list in addition tto the ones you have tried, warriors 2,
kingdom of loathing and metroplexities for example.

Puppet nightamres is extremely good but very complex to play, the same with
the recently discovered drakor, indeed those might be problematic on a note
 taker.

Astro galaxy is also good thoug I know you need a screen reader and browser
for that one sinse it has lots of labeled images and controls.

 All the best,

 Dark.

confuses people to no end. So a new installer that would pick the

something like that besides just mirroring them as is.

Also I heard you live three hours away from Chardon, and if you can it

Strangely, though, http://www.urbandead.com does work, and this has well, its

 Beware the grue!

I suspect the problem isn't windows ce itself, so much as this hole plane

Hello Dark,

Sorry for the late reply, was testing and trying to play on white stick.
Well, if anyone wants a challenge, find accessible stuff with windows CE.
The warrior game, was a nono. If I disabled javascript, it said my
firewall prevented the log in. Then, I logged in. But things like
movement, or attack, I have no clues. But the fact that you can upload
images, don't help. There are some that might be accessible, but things
like sports, etc, don't fit my interest. I found another:
http://www.twilightheroes.com/

This could be accessible, if someone can help out. Some require a capcha,
well, that's a nono. Some didn't have the log in, or register button
showing, its hard. I'm not giving up, though, I'm just about to try the
links some of you gave.

Thanks for the help, though, its actually interesting.

Yes, that is what I was thining.
There are several of those sorts of things kicking around, though ie6 on
a

note taker might be interesting.

If you go to www.whitestick.co.uk you can find a list of games to play
online that includes various accessible games. I would personally
recommend

several on that list in addition tto the ones you have tried, warriors 2,
kingdom of loathing and metroplexities for example.

Puppet nightamres is extremely good but very complex to play, the same
with
the recently discovered drakor, indeed those might be problematic on a
note

taker.

Astro galaxy is also good thoug I know you need a screen reader and
browser

for that one sinse it has lots of labeled images and controls.

All the best,

Dark.

 this braillenote thing works.
Age of fable is very simple there is a button called begin pregenerated

play, read their stats and hit the links.
on chronicles of arborell there is a click here for access section which
tells you about the gamebooks and the world, start with windhammer.

On project.aon, just go to the link that says

Hi Aprone,

The way I see it the more people who can share the files the better.
While I also intend to mirror his site and games I would like to
perhaps repackage them and give them better Windows installers. While
the method he uses is functional it doesn't really cut it for today's
computing environment now that 64 bit Windows uses the Program Files
(x86) folder rather than the older Program Files folder and that just
confuses people to no end. So a new installer that would pick the
correct one would be an improvement, and I would like to repackage the
games to have a more updated installer. So perhaps we can work on
something like that besides just mirroring them as is.

Also I heard you live three hours away from Chardon, and if you can it
would be nice to have another VB 6 dev take control of his source.
While I could probably do it I am pretty busy and have a lot on my
plate and wouldn't be up to taking on that many games any time soon.
Plus while I know VB 6 it has never been my forte anyway.

Cheers!

The choiceofgames website doesn't work with internet explorer versions other
than the latest one. Not a problem for me playing the games sinse I can do

It is rather stupid given that there isn't actually anything complex on the

Hi Anouk.

Those did occur to me, however sinse Roshta is using a braille note taker
that only displays plane text and images, I don't know how well it'd
handle

either of those websites.

chooseyourstory has lots of javascript and specifically written controls,
and while choiceofgames is theoretically plane html, it's limited in terms
of browser choice plus has lots of radial buttons and such.

Of course I'm making a complete guess here sinse as I said I've never used
one of these braille note taker things myself and could be entirely wrong,
however when I suggested age of fable and chronicles of arborell I wasn't
just thinking of online gamebooks, but also of stuff that isn't too
complex

as far as html controls go.

Beware the grue!

This could be accessible, if someone can help out. Some require a capcha,

Hmmm,Ffproject shouldn't have given errors but as I said I have no idea how
 this braillenote thing works.

So it's a problem your end rather than the server on the game. It's your

 No idea.
the site has worked for me for over 10 years, indeed I think I was first
using ie6 myself when I origially found the site though it is entirely
possible either the site has changed sinse then or I'm forgetting which
version of ie I used when.

Either way, this sounds like more craziness with the braillenote i'm
afraid, sinse the pages on ffproject really are! just text and links.

Another latecomer to the news, and one more post confirming that Jim
was a good dude. Only spoke to him on the phone once, but once was
enough to confirm that the kind natured, quick witted Jim that was
conveyed through the keyboard was indeed the IRL Jim. I hope that one
of these nights a Kitchen kid from the future will be tinkering with
whatever cool UI they use to access the wayback archive at that point
in time, and that they'll discover what Jim contributed to this
community.

Sad times...

The choiceofgames website doesn't work with internet explorer versions other
than the latest one. Not a problem for me playing the games sinse I can do
it on ios (and I prefer them portable anyhow), but I don't think it'll like
internet explorer 6 anymore than it likes 8.

It is rather stupid given that there isn't actually anything complex on the
site that wouldn't! work with ie8, but there you go.

 games?

 Dark.
