[Audyssey] mudding in braille

2015-12-08 Thread Devin Prater
Hi all. I was wondering if any of you have tried playing MUD games in braille?
On the bus rides home, I sometimes play MUD games, but the bus is loud, so now
I'm thinking of just using braille on those times, and times like that. So, any
tips for playing MUD games in braille?

Re: [Audyssey] mudding in braille

2015-12-08 Thread dark

Hi Devin.

I haven't played muds in braille, but the problem would be reading incoming
text in real time, sinse some muds like Alteraeon Aardwolf and Cyber assault
go very ast, and even those that don't such as Wayfar1444 still require you
to keep up with the text, (doubly difficult in braille I should imagine on a
moving bus).

I'd personally suggest if you want to play games in braille, you look at
Iphone text games with a turn based element, such as some of the Cog or Hg
games (which are great for busses and trains, or one of the more complex
rpgs such as adventure to fate battle arena, king of dragon pass or star
traders elite.

Alternatively, just invest in a pair of earbuds. This is what I use myself
on trains etc. Indeed, I'm soon gong to have about a twelve hour flight over
to America for Christmas and definitely plan to take my Iphone with me,
I'm considering reserving one of the longer Cog titles just for then such as
tinstar, kendric stone or petal throne.

Re: [Audyssey] mudding in braille

2015-12-08 Thread dark

Hi Devin.

Kodp is great but hard to get into, hence why I did a podcast on the
subject, however there is a lot more out there for the Iphone using text if
you specifically wanted something with a braille display.

The tactical rpg adventure to fate battle arena, the strategical star
traders elite, both A dark room and The ensign, not to mention all the Cog
and Hg games (which I personally always found far more interesting than bog
standard interactive fiction).

Then there are mmorpgs like Solara and Turf wars.

Heck, you could even play games like lost cities, trivia crack or some of
the kid friendly games sinse they mostly use text for the cards and what
not, though obviously the Kid friendly audiogames, as well as games like
pappasangre or the inquisitor you'd need your earbuds.

So, lots of choice.

Personally, I've never actually bothered with Frotz on the Iphone, sinse
even though I have played some good if games in the past, as I've said I
didn't find the guess the verb object manipulation did it for me, not like
gamebooks like the Cog and hg ones, plus of course, on the Iphone I prefer
Ios games rather than just what I have on my pc.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah, I have Frotz, but have never quite found
a

game for that system that really interested me. Ah well, I'll maybe get
KODP again, because that was always fun.

Re: [Audyssey] Problems installing mush z

2015-12-08 Thread Dennis Towne
My guess would be that either 1) You've got some really horrible
antivirus program that's breaking your computer, 2) You've got UAC
(user access controls) set to the maximum level and it's not allowing
anything to install, or 3) Windows is horked. I really don't know how
to help you debug it beyond this; the easiest would be to check your
UAC settings, and see if it's turned up too high. Most people turn it
completely off because it breaks too many things.

[Audyssey] Blindfold Breakout questions

2015-12-08 Thread dark
Hi.

I've just tried this out. I did mean to earlier, but my life has been sort of
a bit hechtic of late, however as I'd like to see if I can do my usual december
the 24th audiogames.net database upgrade, (plus I have lots of long journies
ahead), I thought I'd give this a go.

As to the game itself, I'm really liking how the ball moves and bounces
around, actually a lot like the original, particularly getting the ball into
the back corner to do the multiple brick bouncee of doom!

Definitely a great remake of a classic.

However, I do have a couple of questions.

The first is as regards calibration. I'm not sure if I moved my arm around
enough during the tutorial, is there a way to repeat calibration or do I need
to repeat the tutorial level?

Secondly, about these coins.
I'd be quite happy to pay for the game, say by buying the extra modes out
right, but I'm a little uncomfortable with the coin system.

I don't know! how much I'll play the game, however 14 dollars does seem a bit
much for unlimited play. ON the other hand, if I say paid just the one dollar
for the 40 coins, the potential to runout is there.

Are these coins usable in multiple blindfold games on the same device? I do
mean to try the other blindfold games and obviously there are both other arcade
games and games like poker that require coins to bet with. I'd be far more
comfortable paying 14 usd if it got me unlimited plays on several arcade titles
and/or some poker money.

The add videos thing is okay as an idea, however my problem is that once the
add video finishes I have problems getting back to the game, sinse the back
button on the video's final screen is not labeled, (I believe it's at the top
right hand corner but am not %100 sure on this, and the usual back scrub
gesture doesn't work).

Indeed, the last game I tried the add videos thing for (actually Turf wars), I
ended up having to close and reopen the ap after each video, however when I
tried this in Breakout I didn't get the blindfold.

Of course, all of the coins thing is a sideline to the game, which i definitely
like so far and expect I will like even more when I've tried some of the
whackier modes.

All the best,

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] Alter Aeon December Bash

2015-12-08 Thread Dennis Towne
The first and second batches of December skill and spell updates are
in! The first batch, which was added a few days ago, contained scroll
scribing and greater fire elementals for mages. This set of updates
includes two new druid salves, thorn armor, a new high level attack
spell, and the obscure 'call yeti' skill. The next round of changes
should be in a few days, and should open level 37 to the public. See
you there!
