Re: [Audyssey] VGStorm Presents Manamon, a new fully featured RPG!
hi dark, Unfortunatly, I also experienced the issue you experienced with explorer freezing when I was using 7. The solution is simple actually. This issue is caused by thumbnails. To resolve this, navigate to control panel/folder options and move to the view tab. Then uncheck anything related to thumbnails and click ok. Also, a thing to note is that this issue is completely resolved in later versions of windows. On 7/22/2016 12:56 AM, dark wrote: Hi lori. That's not the problem, or at least not the direct problem. My wife likes desktop shortcuts to everything so I've set them up to her, even for things like favourites. I don't know if baloons or other crap is opening, and I've tried to change what views I can, but it's not helping. That's aside from problems with email, partially completed downloads and all sorts of other rubbish, and her first machine literally breaking down after a year (though in fairness that might have been a hardware problem since the machine was from a rather dodgy source). Either way, I really! am not impressed with windows 7 and would much rather stick with xp. That's how I use it rather than going through the start menu. I'm using windows live mail client which works to a point, but has those stupid ribbon menus meaning i can't find my address book for contacts. Actually I've setup my wife's machine with windows 7, and have had to do a lot of configuration, and have had nothing but problems, the os seems intrinsically flawed to me in it's view, it's display, not to mention needlessly complex in many areas (why the hell we don't have outlook express anymore and what the hell is going on with downloads). Since finally! we're getting to the point that xp is becoming mildly inconvenient to use with things like youtube I do plan to get a windows 10 machine later this year when I've finished my doctorate since I'll need office 2003 until then, (I don't like the idea but we must all bow to the wishes of almighty microsoft and it can't be worse than what I've observed of win 7), however I still would much prefer to use xp, and would be happier if programs like bgt could support it since I do plan to keep my xp laptop running for other stuff and I do know I'm not the only person in this position. Everyone is free to say "microsoft! doesn't support xp" without considering whether we! should support microsoft, indeed it irritates me that I'm being forced to accept something I don't want just because some fat cat coorporation wants more money and finds it easier to break something which has worked perfectly well for 17 years including all copatibility than to actually make something that is practically any better. For all those posting about the Windows XP bug, my main question is, why in the world are you still running XP? I grant you that it was a great operating system for several years. But so is Windows 7. You're not losing any stability by upgrading your system. Add to that the fact that Microsoft has discontinued all support for XP, and you have yet another reason to upgrade. If you have programs that will only run on XP, then use the compatibility tool in Windows to run those specific programs in XP mode. I can guarantee you, without a doubt, that these games do work on Windows 7, as well as 8.1. I am not suggesting that you need to go all the way to Windows 10. And I myself do not like the layout of Windows 8. Great operating system in terms of security and stability, but layout and some accessibility issues are a huge turn off for me. I have always evenly distributed my points when each gets points. To be honest you need to go up all of the floors in the clocktower beating everyone you meet along the way. Eventually you will find the strongest trainer in the level. His muther is the leader, if you beat him you will impress him enough to get the stadium open. Even when thats done there are 2 people below the leader to fight. Hint, if you have 2 transformed units then you probably can ace this. You should then be able to get various loot from both oponents. H well wander round, talk to all you meet, its a bit tricky, there are 2 metle clankings at the far left edge of the screen. anyway once you find one that says the city is ahead walk up straight till you find another sign to the left, after that walk left till you find it its still a little ways forward but you will get there. Re: [Audyssey] VGStorm Presents Manamon, a new fully featured RPG!
to be fair, I have only found 2 games so far, that I really can't get to work under win7, running win7 ultimate 64bit. underwater, and fear of the dark. no matter what I try, I just can't get those to run at all. looking at the other side of the coin, I even got descent in to madness to work fine under win7, and have heard of a lot of people having trouble getting this one to work with 7. I do wonder if sometimes installing a few games fixes problems? for example, originally, I couldn't get alien outback to work, I just got a message saying it couldn't find a certain .dll file. whilst trying to figure out a way to sort this out, I installed quite a few other games, and when I later came back to alien outback to get the name of the file for someone trying to help me out, it fired up just fine. Re: [Audyssey] announcing Manamon from VG Storm
Aaron, Since I blasted you so badly on Psychostrike on list, I wanted to comment here publicly about the game. I played for about an hour this morning and managed to get into the forest beyond the second town. I would have done better if I had read the manual first, but I was pretty happy with my progress. Excellent sound scape. Excellent music. The fights are a bit repetitive at first, but that's often a failing with most rpgs. The spread of the monster abilities over levels was somewhat frustrating as well, but again, given the way it is described in the manual, and the chance to transform monsters later, that is more a grumble from someone who has played too many games with dead levels. The characters are interesting, and the world fun. The game was easy enough that I picked it up with only listening to learn game sounds and going. Obviously I messed up a few things (most notably, not being able to capture any monsters because I hadn't read the manual first lol). Excellent job, and if the demo continues to be as enjoyable as it was at first, I think I'll be buying this one. Take care, Jeremy -- In the fight between you and the world--back the world! Re: [Audyssey] VGStorm Presents Manamon, a new fully featured RPG!
I'm pretty sure you can't buy Manamon from the market. As for the woods they are a bit of a maze. There's a really small path right next to the first tamer you meet. You'll also know you're on the right track when you find a bench and near it a person who'll heal all your Manamon. -Original Message- From: loriduncan Sent: Thursday, July 21, 2016 5:41 PM To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] VGStorm Presents Manamon, a new fully featured RPG! I can do everything there, and go to the west in the woods. Somebody there tells me that those woods lead to the first stadium city, but it seams that the woods are closed by walls from all the sides. What am I doing wrong there? Half the time folders do not display properly, downloaded files stop in the middle, and outlook is just plane inconvenient. I probably will get a windows 10 machine later this year when my thesis is finished and I can risk being without a version of ms office for formatting. I don't suppose that is any better than 7 but if I must have crap at least I can have the latest crap, which is after all microsoft's philosophy. Xp is not worth the trouble of trying to hold on to. I used 7 it was great. Loved having that search box and now I run 10 no differently. Sometimes you just got to let go and move forward. [Audyssey] sapiBridge looking for developer
HI since I am not a programmer I am looking for a developer who can make a small idea I have come true. and I may be wrong but I think this project would be considered a small idea or small one and if they could make it open source? anyway my idea is this. first off, you know most games only take sapi5 voices. you also know many sapi5 voices cost from $40 up to $120 United states dollars. some people in foreign countries cannot afford that much money. but at the same time we all would like more voice choice when it comes to games. right? and we all know sapi4 works on windowz xp windows7 windows8 windows8.1 and windows10 and beyond. and if its not installed you just run spchapi.exe and install the sapi4 components and a old free sapi4 tts engine and off you go, right? the issue is those voices do not work with games. until a developer takes my idea and writes this little open source utility I had in mind, called sapiBridge. You install sapiBridge and if needed it installs the needed sapi4 components along with one free sapi4 voice to get you started say maybe TruVoice. Then you go into a little graphical sapiBridge configuration utility and you pick your sapi4 voice from a combo box. it even lets you run the sapi4 control panel to further customise voices because some older sapi4 voices let you do that. and then when you hit save it saves, has you restart the computer if needed and once all is done you go in and choose SapiBridge. and you may have several sapi5 voices like sapiBridge1 for truVoice sapiBridge2 for a microsoft sapi4 voice and so on. all it does is be a bridge between sapi4 and sapi5. you could even control rate pitch volume and stuff using sapi5 commands or if this is not possible just set those parameters in the sapiBridge gui utility and hit save once more. anyway a little sapi4 to sapi5 bridge utility would give us more voice choices for our games that use sapi5 tts voices. If someone would write such a sapiBridge utility and make it open source I and I'm sure many others would appreciate it. thanks Josh -- sent from mozilla thunderbird --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. "Current software" like bgt? If this was a new game there would be an issue, but there are far more games still being built with bgt now that work fine with xp, and I am rather disappointed that, as people still use xp this error can't be fixed. As I said I'll probably install on my wifes machine with that buggy waste of space windows 7, so I'll get to play tis, but I'd much rather do it on mine so was wondering if Aaron could please fix the error as reported for his last three releases. Has anyone tried to figure out optimizing their Manamon's stats yet? I mean to say, what stats serve which creature best? Re: [Audyssey] VGStorm Presents Manamon, a new fully featured RPG!
Hi lori. That's not the problem, or at least not the direct problem. My wife likes desktop shortcuts to everything so I've set them up to her, even for things like favourites. However sometimes folders open and just plane don't display correctly, especially when they're very large directories. Dark, in windows 7 the one thing to note is hitting windows key brings up a search box from where you type downloads, or whatever you're looking for, like internet, and it'll come up. But there is not a thing wrong with Windows 7, and I see nothing but benefits to upgrading. On 7/21/16, john wrote: There's actually been no announcements on this issue in numerous months. my laptop has a spinning hard drive also. but i put a ssd in my son's laptop and windows10 flies on that 6 year old laptop! when i used macrium reflect which is free to clone the spinning drive to the ssd, put in the cloned ssd. the laptop was like a brand new machine it was so awesome! when i get the money I'm gunna put an ssd in this laptop but first I need to save up money to buy the new orbit reader 20 $480 braille display when it comes out. the new one that is dust resistant fluid resistant and designed to work in harsh environments the braille display where when the dots are up they stay up and are locked and you cannot push them down... it feels like signage quality braille. just skip windows8 and 8.1 but if you do go to windows10 it is very stable also just like 7 but even faster. what i like about it is my son who is sighted sometimes he gets viruses from various questionable games he tries out. so i just say well if it gets too bad just go into settings and do a complete reset this pc. he does and windows10 is back to factory defaults after it cleans and reinstalls itself. that reset feature has even saved my computer once or so now. Well if you don't want a battle you can flee it. Be aware that grinding is part of this game you need to do this to level up your chars and units. I always train units evenly because I am a starter but even so, grinding is part of this and a lot of japanese fighters. You need at least 2 really strong units with transformations and its the only way to handle it then as you go just traid on and on you go. It takes a bit but yeah if its a waste of your time you can run away from it. Fights are the only way you can get cash unless you find it. Actual battles where you meet and get challenged its to the death and you can't flee. On the other hand you will get special items to progress, special keys, bonuses, cash and other usefull things. Re: [Audyssey] windows xp, was Re: VGStorm Presents Manamon, a new fully featured RPG!
John, Wow. I never once said that anyone was an idiot. I am merely pointing out the advantages to an upgrade that some might be overlooking. I'm not suggesting that anyone trash their XP machine necessarily. I am merely suggesting that if they wish for the newer games that are in development or have been released to work, perhaps they should consider an upgrade in lieu of expecting the developer to go out of their way to add backward compatibility for an operating system that even the maker of doesn't support anymore. And they might want to think about the fact that Certain features that can be implemented due to current standards in hardware and OS, ones that make the game what it is in terms of audio or controls, may not be available in XP. I have no problem with a person that wants to keep XP around for older things. My only concern is a willingness to summarily dismiss the idea that an upgrade mi9ght benefit them out of hand without knowing the facts. And just as a side note to you, no matter how "ridiculous," you think this debate is, it's constitutionally protected. On 7/21/16, johnwrote: > This debate is getting ridiculous. I see. Thank you so much for telling me. When Sierra officially comes out, since vmWare doesn't seem to like it much now, and a new vmWare comes out with it, I'll get a Windows 10 vm to use for it. Thanks so much for telling much about 32Bit, I didn't know that'd help so much. Also, the Mac has a spinning hard drive, so that affects things too. Dark, What do you mean, what the hell is wrong with downloads? Downloads are right there. Open your start menu by pressing Windows key. Next, type the word downloads in the search box that comes up and hit enter. Your downloads folder will open for you in a traditional explorer window. As for Outlook, there is no reason why it cannot be installed onto Windows 7. I personally used outlook for years on my Win 7 machine, without drama. And while I myself believe that Microsoft has more money than anyone should probably have, and while I agree that they have no right to compel anyone to buy an operating system that they do not wish to use, I also understand that the newer systems provide added functionality, features, security, and stability, and can be used with 64-bit processors. If you use it enough, you'll fall in love with the search box. How convenient it is to type a couple of letters, and have your document, program, or system setting pop right up for you. With the growth in hardware, and the development of at least 4 operating systems since XP, it isn't feasible for them to continue to try to support it. Re: [Audyssey] VGStorm Presents Manamon, a new fully featured RPG!
Dark, in windows 7 the one thing to note is hitting windows key brings up a search box from where you type downloads, or whatever you're looking for, like internet, and it'll come up. That's how I use it rather than going through the start menu. I'm using windows live mail client which works to a point, but has those stupid ribbon menus meaning i can't find my address book for contacts. Hi guys, I'm still having problems with the game. Each time I heal up at my house then head back out I meet the same creatures and do the same battles over again, so I have to keep going back home to heal and can't go any further without being killed. That's the one michael. It happens with psycho strike, the gate and now manaman. It is fixable, since Oriol Gomez had it in some of his games and corrected it, and I know Aaron mentioned sorting it for psycho strike, it's just a little sad he hasn't got around to doing that for three games. I would like to welcome you to the world of Manamon! Manamon is a turnbased roleplaying game in which you capture various feral monsters you find around the world and use them to help you complete the storyline. It features experimental online gameplay which will allow you to trade and battle your friends to determine which of you is the stronger Manamon Tamer. Storyline In the world of Tangeria, children around ages 10 to 14 become Manamon Tamers. A Manamon Tamer is someone who captures and befriends creatures in the wild. The tamer will then battle with other Tamers in order to gain more experience. Its a Manamon Tamer's job to collect and train Manamon in hopes of becoming the Manamon Master, but the road to become the master is never easy. While traveling across the world, you will occasionally discover stadiums. Stadiums are battle arenas with powerful leaders who will put your Manamon to the test. You must defeat seven of these leaders in order to gain admittance into the Master's Stadium where you will battle the Manamon Master.
