All,

My question is just what the subject sounds like. Are there any accessible
games that are like the Civilization games, where one builds a civilization
from the ground up and deals with enemy civilizations? I'm thinkin long-term
strategy. I'm sure there are some but I haven't kept up with accessible
games in forever.

Re: [Audyssey] For all FSX private GA flight pilots.

2017-02-10 Thread Jordan Gallacher
Yep, it would be great if MCE had full BVI support, but that is highly unlikely
to happen since even when I was beta testing that part of the program they
would not listen. Worse yet, and why I have removed MCE completely from my
Flight Sim Add-ons folder on my external HD, is that they refused to transfer
my license over to my new computer. So, I have written them off until more
people want to help try to push for them to fully implement the BVI mode.
There are so many add-on aircraft that I wish to be able to fly that it is
crazy, and I can tell you that MCE would work well. IYP was never really
designed for complex aircraft, and thus most third party payware aircraft would
not work with it. Unfortunate since Wilco Publishing does a great job with
their aircraft. I know this because I used to fly a lot of them in FS9 when I
had more vision.

Subject: Re: [Audyssey] For all FSX private GA flight pilots.

We really need to hunker down and get MultiCrew Experience to have
audio-landing support because:
1. IYP capabilities: Robert will no longer be implementing capabilities and
features into Its your Plane.
2. Most important of all: if this plane is made, we don't know if IYP will
implement support. He may, but MCE is more likely to implement it than Robert
and IYP, quicker.

I'm championing MCE because it's still being updated, I like it's design,
they've already implemented partial blind support... we just need to convince
them to implement an auto-landing feature. Either that, or as a friend said, we
need a way to read FMC data to get the necessary information to land properly
manually.

While I like IYP, new planes that are coming out won't be supported, so I'm not
very excited at the prospect of flying a new plane as Robert is only
"maintaining" IYP. I fully understand his reasons for this, but when I see
threads like this about new planes, awesome that it may be made, but good luck
trying to convince Robert to add support for all these aircraft. I'd love to
fly a lot of the A2A aircraft, such as the A2A Cesna172. However, this aircraft
is not supported by IYP. While we can fly non-supported aircraft, IYP can't
land them if it's not supported. That's a double-edged sword.

Jordan,
The basic concept when working with zipped applications is that they will
run if and only if they don't need to access any other file in the zip.
TDV, for example, needs to be able to access the sound files for the game,
and therefore doesn't meet this criteria.
The reasoning for this is because of how archives are handled.
Essentially, what's actually happening when you access a file in a zip (or
any other type) archive, is that your computer copies the file you requested
to access out of the archive to a temporary location.
It then runs or opens that file, which is why you can view documents in an
archive just fine.
The problem arises when the file you just copied tries to access other files
that aren't there, like sounds.
Since the computer only extracts the one needed file, the others don't
exist, and the program fails.
In addition, the program will usually have a compromised ability to create
new files, for example saved games or edited documents.
This is why you should always extract archive files containing applications,
unless you know for absolute certainty that those programs are
self-contained, and won't read or write any other files.

Best,
John

Ron,
There is no install process.
As with any game that runs from a zip, you simply run the executable and, if
all dependencies are in place, it runs.
I can't diagnose your particular system, but would advise checking to ensure
you can still play the demo version of tdv2.

You need to be using NVDA with Steam. Its OCR add-on that can be downloaded
seems to make the steam client usable for the most part.

I had a sighted friend set up my steam account for me.
But I too would like to know how to find ones way around in the steam world
via a screen reader.
I mainly am using jaws for windows.
So, any tips and tricks via jaws would be deeply appreciated it.
I'm a long time fsx and IYP user, but it looks like I'm having problems
installing my dvds onto my new kick behind windows 10 anniversary computer.
I had my sighted father take a look at my dvds, and he saw nothing wrong
with the DVDS.
So, I don't know why I can not install fsx gold now days simply FSX onto my
new pc.
If anyone has any advice on this, I'd welcome it.
Many Thanks.

We can play the steem version of microsoft flight simulator? Does anyone
have a how-to on this? I have steem (mostly for my son), but if I can
actually play one of those games, I'm not opposed to purchasing a copy for
myself. Where do I go for information on this particular encarnation of

Re: [Audyssey] IYP on windows10?

2017-01-19 Thread Jordan Gallacher
If you are trying to get to the Options Panel and Update the database, that
is where it gets tricky. When everything is running, and IYP says it's your
plane we are ready to go, say open options panel. Now is the tricky bit. I
have yet to find a screen reader that works until you have turned on the
virtual mouse mode and clicked on something. I normally go to an edit field
since that won't turn something on or off. Then I can turn virtual mouse
mode off after clicking in the edit field since now I am able to use my
screen reader as normal and get to the Update Database button.
Hope this helps,
Jordan

One of two things could be the problem from the sound of it. Check to make
sure you have installed FSIUPC. Also, you must have FSX running with a
plane parked at a gate or ramp. Also, check to make sure that you have an
internet connection. All of the above could be the reason IYP is doing
that.

Re: [Audyssey] any other microsoft flight simulator players on here?

2017-01-17 Thread Jordan Gallacher
On Steam, FSX was $24.99. Here are the add ons I have that I use and like.
It's Your Plane found at itsyourplane.com and also check out the supported
aircraft lists. Sky song Soundworks makes the best sounds for FSX and is found
at skysongsoundworks.com Basically, what I did was find all the sounds that
match up with supported aircraft, and found the aircraft and purchased the
sound packages. I like some of the Carenado aircraft, and the Just Flight
757FreeMium is also a great aircraft and is the only one that I will not be
replacing the sounds for since the sounds are quite good. I also use Sim
Physics and AccuFeel and also My Traffic 2013, Ultimate Traffic 2, and Edit
Voicepack. For weather I use FSWX. I also use a program that adds much better
lighting and a couple of scenery add ons. For some of the aircraft I fly, go
to my YouTube channel, viSimmer.

Good luck getting this to be taken seriously by the legal system here in the
United States. There are dozens of legal defenses that Valve could use to
wriggle out of anything.

Unfortunately, they could argue, with a good deal of justice, that most, if
not all, their games are for sighted people so it is not their job to
accomedate us.

Finally, there is a very good chance that the Americans with Disabilities
Act is going to be gutted by Cheeto Bonito and the deplorable human beings
that put him into office/support him. This extends to the idiot Republicans
in Congress who will happily throw us under the bus.

If we want accessible games, we are going to have to do it ourselves; there
is no other way around this.

to work. Category 1 aircraft the aircraft are controlled by the arrow keys
for the most part.
Alt S opens a edit box for you to type the course you want to fly in.
Alt Z opens a box for you to type the altitude you want to fly at.
Alt P turns on Auto Navigation

Re: [Audyssey] EuroFly question

2016-12-30 Thread Jordan Gallacher
EuroFly is good if you are into more of what it is like to be a real world
pilot for an airline or charter company. IYP nor FSX compares in that regard.
Also, the default airplane sounds in FSX are junk. I have spent a lot of money
just fixing that issue alone and am not done yet. I have some videos up on
YouTube of IYP, and while FSX and IYP plus all the other add-ons are great, it
is nice to have something where I can actually control the aircraft, although
with my setup here, I always am controlling the aircraft for take off and the
initial climb before the autopilot is turned on in FSX.

Re: [Audyssey] The train now standing at platform N A Soft is Tube Sim, and its ready to depart.

2016-12-30 Thread Jordan Gallacher
Yep, I notice that as well. The best thing to do when coming into any
station that you are going to stop at is to have the train going no faster
than 10. Then if the announcement is late or the dinging of where you
should stop comes out of nowhere, you still have time to hit the brakes and
stop.
Hope this helps,
Jordan

Hello,
I have one problem, the prerecorded prompts can't catch up, and I fail to
stop. Is that just me, or anyone else having it?

Hey, i've always thought of trying that fsx and it's your plane thing, the
only thing that makes me sort of hesitate a bit, is ... well, you don't do
so much flying. it's all voice. that's fun i guess in one way, makes you

would be fun to do it i guess, hope it won't cost me too much. lol.

Re: [Audyssey] Tips for taxiing to a runway on Euro Fly

2016-12-30 Thread Jordan Gallacher
Lol, a lot of dented planes is right. Just last night I must have overshot
the runway somehow because the 707 never took off. It crashed off of the
runway. Anyone else notice that some airports have bad weather around
almost all the time? That has made for some rather expedited landings the
past few flights I have done.

Hi Jordan, here goes.
First step, get clearance to fly. listen to what runway they say you're
cleared from. start up your engines, and keep your speed down to about
50 for now, to make it easier. as you get better, you can speed up quite a
bit, but it takes a lot of practice to do that without overshooting, or
having to slam on the breaks. lol. anyways, let's say that you're cleared
from A2. you run down along the airport, till you hear beeping from either
ear. combined with that sound, is a designation, IE 1, 2, 3, A1, A2, A3, B1,
B2, B3, and so on. you need to get to where it tells you the one your
cleared from, and turn into it. so lets say that you're cleared from A2, and
that happens to be on the left. taxi along, till you hear the beeping on
your left, and a female voice saying A2. Turn left, by pressing control+left
arrow, to turn 90 degrese to the left.
you will hear a ding as you start to turn, then another as you complete your
turn. and either before that second ding, or just after it, the beeping and
the voice saying A2 should stop. at this point, you're lined up, and ready
for takeoff. now ramp them engines up to your takeoff speed, and follow on
with a normal takeoff as you would perform if the runway clearance were for
the runway in front of you.
Hope this helps you. took me a bit to figure it out too. lol. and a lot of
very dented planes!

Dallas

2016-12-30 Thread Jordan Gallacher
What gets me quite often are the speed limit changes where I have to get
from 80 to 15 or 10. I almost always end up going too fast for a little
bit. Nick did a great job with both Tube Sim and Park Boss, and both of
these titles are similar to games I used to play when I had more vision or
had a computer that could run the programs that I used to play.

Hello guys. I started thinking that it was telling me about unauthorised
passangers cause i was fueling it up fulll. So this time i took just enough
to get where i wanted and still it didn't change much. There is another
problem in mission 6. There are two airports that sound almost the same in
the list of those belonging to the check republic. Maybe i chose the wrong
one. Some of the symbols are not readable with NVDA.

Sim, and its ready to depart.

Hi All.
Well it's been a couple of busy days since I released Tube Sim. From the
feedback I've had generally it looks like you're all enjoying playing. So
far in the 3 days since release it's been downloaded over 530 times.
A number of questions have been asked which I'm going to attempt to answer
here:
1. Why is some of the information so quiet once you leave driver school
and start doing missions?
Answer: Hands up, there's a bug here. The driver school does quite a bit of
ducking of audio while messages are spoken. In some situations when you go
to do a real mission after driver school the audio is still ducked. This
will be fixed in the next release. For now I'd suggest once you complete
driver school you should exit the game from the main menu and reload it
before moving on to the missions. This should only be an issue with coming
out of driver school.
2. Exiting the game, why can't I just hit alt f4 to close it?
Answer: This was deliberate, in the real world a driver cannot just exit a
train and leave it in the middle of the track. As it stands you've got 2
options. Escape will pause the game and f7 will radio the control room
asking for relief, this means that your run will end at when you open the
doors at the next station. Of all the comments I've had about the game this
seems to annoy most people so in a future release I'm planning to give you
an option to quit the mission from the pause menu. When you do this my
intention is that your distance and score will not be logged as your
abandoning your train. I'm also tempted to reduce the customer service
overall score a bit if you do this as its breaking the policy of trying to
keep the game as realistic as possible. I'll think about that one. I'd hope
that this is something that most people don't do very often.
3. Are the places real places in London, how close is this to what a
real tube driver does?
Answer: Yes, the stations, routes and distances between stations is based on
the real world. I did quite a bit of reading up on what a real world tube
driver does and I'd say it's about 75% accurate. There are some changes to
do with setting up the train that a driver does that you don't do in the
game, things like static break tests and setting up the destination signs.
Also the rear lights are set and you have to set various modes in the rear
cab. As there is no rear cab in the game I moved the switches. The radio
sequences I completely made up. The speed limits and which bits are over
ground and which bits are underground are randomly generated and don't
reflect the real world.
4. Why can't I stop at the stations, why don't the alarms play?
Answer: My guess you're overshooting because you're going too fast. The
following may help, remember that you can practise stopping with lesson 2 in
the driver school.
At top speed, 80 KMPH your stopping distances are about 100M if you use the
breaks, and about 600 M if you just use the throttle controls.
Generally unless you're late I'd not suggest going faster than 50 KMPH.
By the time you're 100 M from the station your speed should be about 30
KMPH.
50 you should be down to about 20 KMPH.
15 M should be down to 10 KMPH.
If you're at 10 KMPH at when you get told your 15 M away hit down twice to
bring your train to a stop, this should bring you nicely to a stop in the
stop zone without using the breaks.
5. Why can't I move the train?
Answer: I'd Suggest reading the documentation and going through driver
school. However there are a couple of common things you should check.
Are your doors closed?
Is your air pressure higher than 50?
Are you holding the dead man switch?
6. How do you know when your underground or over ground.
Answer: If you can hear the birds and rain then you're over ground, some
people flick to the external view quickly to check this. Also your train
echoes a lot more and you can hear the sound of your train bouncing off the
tunnel walls when you're underground.
7. Why isn't there the option to turn on the air compressor when on the

Answer: There is, just hit enter on the air pressure read out to enable the
compressor.
8. Can new stations or countries be added?
Answer: Maybe in the future, there is quite a bit of audio needed for lines
and stations, but going forward I may produce a way of doing this.
9. How do you pick the sound pack, there's nothing in the main menu?

[Audyssey] Introduction

2012-05-20 Thread Jordan Gallacher
Hello All,

I am really into simulation and tycoon games. Microsoft Flight Simulator is
the most used program I have since it can be made accessible. I use IYP,
and I am also a beta tester for a program called Multi Crew Experience,
which has some work to be done. Even more than flying, I love trains and
love train simulators and railroad tycoon. Of course none of these are
accessible. I wish they were, and I rarely use them at this point.

[Audyssey] Ten Pin Alley question

2012-05-20 Thread Jordan Gallacher
I am running Windows 7 64 bit after my Windows 7 32 bit computer had some
problems and I replaced it. I now get Runtime Error 76 everytime I try to
launch Ten Pin Alley. I would like to know if there is a work around for
this, and if not, is there another bowling game out there that I could look
into. I miss that program and would like to either get it working again or
find a different program.

Thanks,

Jordan
