[Audyssey] Sound library (something that game developers would dig)

Hi.

I'm sorry if I shouldn't post this here, but I thought since sound libraries
are something audio games would not exist without I might post this.

So, I've recently released my own sound library which I've recorded,
produced and mastered intirely myself. It contains over 1800 audio files
including
high quality sound effects in wave pcm uncompressed mode, 16 bit 44.1 khz.
It contains both mono and stereo sounds, instrument samples (accordian,
beatbox...)
and even production music recorded composed and produced by me intirely. It
contains 21 categories, and each of them can be previewed by downloading the
separate mp3 file for each category before buying so you can hear what the
sound library contains and to hear the quality of the sounds and whatever
you
want. It's original price is 50 US dollars, but I have the discount on that

[Audyssey] light the bgt fire - a course for those who want to learn bgt

not checking an mailing list often)
Hello,

I'm going to run a bgt course on the internet which will be called light the
bgt fire.
This is going to be streamed on the skype, teamtalk, zello and probably on
someone's server if anyone wants to help about that.
All lessons are going to be uploaded and recorded, so everyone can download
if missed a lesson[s], or if just don't wanna be in real-time lesson.
A course is going to be a month long and durring that time students should
be thrown to the basics and ready to learn their own.
why am i going to run that competition?
Because i've heard from many people that they tried to read the help file
and learn from there but they can't get anything. As i can recall, manual
was
very good in my way because i had a programming basis...
We will do everything from the language tutorial and maby something another,
however I'll not be only based on bgt language tutorial.
What I mean when I said that you'll be able to program your own that means
that you'll be ready to program simple things and that you'll be able to
just expand your bgt knowledge.
We will before the start of the course set the time at which we will meet on
mentioned skype, team talk, zello  and so on.
Every day, we will first at all revise what we have done last day and then
continue.
We will also practice much; I'll first tell you and describe a thing, and
then I'll force you to practice and write a code your self several times,
until I see that you got that.
A corse is going to be free; but since it will take much of my time i'll not
start untill i reached  a certen donations number.
A course is most likely to not run if i didn't have any donations, or just
too small one.
I'm planning to run that for a month; or a bit earlier; so hurry up if you

Finally, we have a confirmed winner of the BGT competition! Some recent
unexpected freelance work delayed this announcement, since I wanted to do
the thing properly and make sure I had counted everything exactly right.
Now, however, the result is final.

It was a very even competition. Obsessive Compulsive was generally ranked
very highly for innovation, The Spaceship received very favorable scores on
sound quality, and so did Playmania. The result is as follows:

Third place: The spaceship.
Second place: Obsessive Compulsive.
First place: Playmania.

Congratulations!

We will now be taking down the games from our server, but of course we
encourage the participants to host the files themselves so that these games

I feel that this competition worked out splendedly, and so I have plans to

Yeah, I completely agree; that was my problem... I had too much things for
the school to do, tests, homeworks and so on that I didn't have a time to
show my real programming knowledge, like I showed in new beta of aliens
attack...  Honestly, like aprone said, I had also feeling that 2 months are
a whole century and I wasn't working on the contest thing all the time.
But once I've started to write a code and do everything connected to making
a contest thing I was taking every millisecond to do it, even in the school
during classes, during breaks and so on.
I honestly wanted and desired that I'll create action game, but I didn't
have, and, honestly, I'm not sad, playmania is just good as a new idea. I
alrighty planned which new serious games to add (not for the kids *smiles*)
and to make it famous and serious game collection; first I attended to make,
and a thing with which I won a bgt contest...

Hi Philip.

That's why I said 4-6, rather than 6 straight out.

i do think however that the initial time was too short. While you, and other
developers like Aprone obviously work fairly quickly, that is not true of
everyone, especially first time entrants into the competition who may have
to try a number of versions of their game, or people with larger commitments
in other areas such as family or work.

For instance, last year I submitted an entry myself to the windhammer
gamebook competition. However this year as I'm finishing my phd thesis I
have not begun writing one. Sinse however the competition runs from April to
the end of september, there is a possibility that if (as I hope), I finish
my thesis in august, I might be able to run off a gamebook for the
competition in september once it is done, something I couldn't do if the
submission period was shorter.

I do believe some of the bugs we saw in the competition games, like the
sound and confusion issues in spaceship and the centering issue in the glass
pouring game in playmania would've been resolved if the developers had had a
little more time to work, and after all if a developer is a speed freak they
can always finish the game early, this is why I personally would rather too
much time than too little, that's why I'd myself plump for 4-6 months, as
indeed the graphical indi game developement competitions have.

It is however your decision.

[Audyssey] aliens attack beta2

Hello people,

I'm proud to release new beta release of my side scroller and my first game
Aliens attack.
Many things were changed:
. Completely boosed the speed of things are being downloaded in real-time
from the server
. Added new weapons laser, cannon, rocket, grenade, nuclear bomb and arrow
. improved all weapons and all things
. Added jumping and running
. Added health
. added a 5 seconds timer for the nuclear bomb (during this time you need to
go away at least 6 or 7 steps, because if not you'll die)
. when applying nuclear bomb, it will affect you as well, if you're near it
(5 feet right or 5 feet left) you'll die
. updated the story
. From now on, you can press any key to skip things are shippable
. Boosed the speed of playing weapons and other things
. When weapons are playing, you're from now on able to do other things
. made a table significantly longer
. Added waterfalls
. from now on, each weapon fires differently, e.g. with gun you can kill the
alien when you're 10 feet away from it, with punch just when you're very
near, with grenade about 15, 20 steps, and with nuclear bomb you're
destroying everything, without any matters where what is
. made the whole game more realistic
. added that aliens have randomly activated shields, so you can't do any
harm to them

nope, the speech was in English, since I did it at school I'd recognize
spanish,  though probably can't remember enough to play a game in it :D.

The voices in the game, menues etc were fine, I just meant what sound like
voices chattering when you start the game itself, rather than the fighting
practice mode.

Hello,

Thank for your replys.

Just to avoid everything related to panning: there's nothing I can do  to
sound being panned better or worse, in my opinion it works more than
desired, and when you're at the same position as the glass is, it will be
nicely played on the center.
If you don't believe, I can produce audio recording for everyone not
believing in my words.
About the games, I agree with everyone said that the games are stupid, they
are, but they aren't more stupid than 2 other games from Claudio and aprone,
since i played both games.
This games aren't supposed and made for my young child, since I'm not going
to have my children in sooner time.
Just take a note that I had in realtime my school and tests, exams, and so
on. I gave all my time on playmania, and believe that it herts when you can
say something like that that games are made for the children.

Thanks, I don't think I'm a beginner, since I know a lot of things, but I
haven't got the full time to create something powerful enough, because of my
school.
This is just my first attempt to be in a contest and see what would happen,
and I got really good feedbacks from one part of the world, from another one
just got a bit worse suggestions, but everything multiplied, divided,
subtracted and added is that 60, 70% of people who were and are giving
suggestions or feedbacks, are congratulating and etc. It doesn't mean I'm
just angry on the people saying not so light and white comments, and
suggestions, it just means that, as I alrighty said, my things aren't so
powerful and only one thing I can say why I haven't made something more
powerful, something really bombastic is that I had to worry about school,
tests, exams and so on.
At the end, thank you for all these comments, I'll probably fix bugs you
mentioned and one those I found my self if this collection will win,
otherwise i'll just understand my work as a garbage and the rite place for
the garbage is the Recycle Bin, and that's all.

But let's support Nikola. As I know, this is his first experience in
creating games. The things of the kind are normal when one is beginner in
certain aspects. If I did it a few years ago, when I had his age, I would
have done the same mistake. If we demotivate him, he will stop working on
possible new games. if we encourage him now, we will probably get a new
developer that, believe me, has the potential to bring us some inovations.

project.  Lots of folks on the lists and forums talk about making a game, or

   but talk is cheap, and coding is hard, and you've done the work, went
through all the learning and frustration of coding, and you have something
to show the world, something few of your critics can say.
   My first games were so basic and terrible, I never bothered sending them
to anyone, just used them as learning experiences and moved on, but I'm sure
I would have heard even worse criticism of them had i released them to a
wide audience.
   so congratulations to you man, and hats off to Philip for providing a
great opportunity for folks to showcase their stuff, Ijust wish more folks
had been able to push through to a final project.
   I think most of the criticism is well intended, and meant to be
constructive, but I know it can be hard to take when someone just  poo poos
your work when they have little idea of how hard it is to produce a finished
project.
   I hope what Philip is doing here becomes an annual event, what BGT can
provide is just amazing, and we need more bright minds with creative ideas
and the motivation to get their visions turned into reality in the audio
game community.

Hey Nikola, as one of those who have offered constructive criticism, I do
not mean to insult you or your creation.  When I say that these games would
work well if aimed at children, I'm actually trying to provide you with a
suggestion for what to do with the filled-out project.  As Dark said in his
critique over on audiogames.net, you have done well with your use of sounds.


Also, whether you win or not should not decide whether you continue working
on the games or not.  And if we can't provide honest feedback, how are we
going to help you improve, which is what getting feedback is all about.  I
think you'd agree Aprone aka Jeremy is a current rock star in the developer
set right now, having possibly the hottest game out ever, and certainly the
current title with the most buzz.  Those of us who have been fans have
certainly submitted a lot of feedback, and not all of it complimentary.
We've called out what we feel are poor choices.  But he has developed a
rapport with much of his fan base, and one reason is his ability to accept
criticism and either work to change something or explain why he chose what
he did and why he isn't going to change it.  I'm an Aprone fan-boy and I
don't even like all his choices, but I trust him to produce something of
high quality with repeated feedback and change cycles.

So please accept what we say without taking it for more than it is.  I did
not call your games stupid, and my question about your audience was meant to
help you market future games of this kind if that's the direction you want
to go.  Your games are not my cup of tea, but that's my opinion and does not
mean I don't appreciate the effort that went into creating them.  Hell's
bells, I didn't get my submission in, and while I will release that game,
it's going to be quite different than my original design.

So cheer up, if I didn't care, I wouldn't comment.

It's amaising!
I have downloaded it before I saw your message, but why playroom 1.6 haven't
at least announced that new version is available, just asking do you want to
update and saying that's an optional update?
It's important to everyone knows because 1.7 in my situation is much more
stabil, and it doesn't crash like 1.6 when you have skype window opened
while playroom is running.

The game aliens attack is the science fiction game. In this game, the goal
is to shoote as many aliens you can.
Currently, 5 levels are available, but in the future, more levels will be

ads will be spoken first time you play the game or when it's updated. It

your ad can be free of charge or costs a small amount, e.g. 10 euros. Ad
doesn't have any limits, and every user will see that not just once, because

if you wanna skip the intro, story, ads or information, you may want just to
press one of the following keys:
. enter
. space
. escape
. control

use up and down arrows or left and right arrows to move between options, and
enter or space to activate it.
. start the game - starts the game, by playing ads (if new or if first run),
playing the story and then starting the game, when you hear level 1 then
time to act!
. scoreboard settings - unavailable in the beta version, because it's not
yet finished. When you click on it, it will not do anything.
. test speakers - plays gun sound on the left speaker, in the middle and on
the right speaker (if you hear differently, then you need to adjust your
speakers or hedphones correctly to play this game).

. exit - what it could be unless quitting the game as an alternative you may
press escape or alt f4 to quit the game

. right arrow - walk to the right
. left arrow - walk to the left
. space - fire (only works when you're at the same position as alien does)

You're limited to the 25 seconds per each level, when 20 seconds elapsed,
you'll hear the buzzer sound warning you that just 5 seconds elapsed.
when you hear something like alarm clock sound, it means you got time
boosed. The time boosed resets the timer, which means that you'll have more
25 seconds.

. the game comes with the keyhook which will be active when you start the
game, the keyhook allows you to play the game even if your screenreader is
running. In very very rare cases keyhook will not be active, and if you
noticed that you can't move across the menu, that you can't walk, or
something like that, please turn your screenreader off.
. the ads and information things weren't added to anoy you or something like
that. This game is free of charge, but i need to get something to eate,
rite? You'll hear ads when you hit start game, and that's the only one place
reserved for the ads, and also information will be heard just when intro
finishes.

It's beautiful!
One thing is that moving pitch of the note not sounds unreal, like when
tried to do so in a bgt smile, anyways that's a base, the most difficult
lib, what to say next then?
Yes, that's supposed to be offline game...

Hello listers,
I'm happy to present you a small new old game

If you knew magic blocks, you will find in score the same game but a
revisited concept. Instead of blocks, you have now musical notes ! I think
the game is much so nice that way.

For those who didn't know magic blocks before, you can anyway try if you
wish. I will explain the game principle later if you want to.

This is an early beta, I haven't written any documentation at the moment. It
has probably some bugs...

The game should work with jaws, NVDA, system access, window eye, or SAPI.
Feel free to ask questions and leave comments.

Game tipp 1: use arrow keys to navigate through the grid and space to drop
the notes Game tipp 2:  You can get bonuses ! Press D, F, Q, R and N to use
them, add shift to know how many you have. Guess what they do and how you
can win them ! In easy and normal difficulty you start with some bonuses.

Hello.

Basicly I found a way how to not get into crash.
Just when you pressed enter too fast just say no and on next question do
normally what you'd like.
It seems that it somehow opens a 2 message boxes in same time and then just
when you press yes gone in to the deth.

The crash if junking cards too fast is a known bug. I don't know what's the
problem, it doesn't occur locally (i.e. when I test the server in my own
machine).

Hello, I'm not sure if my message passed throo list because I'm new member.

I just discovered that you can get out of the crash in the junk dialog when
press no, and then yes (because in this case 2 dialogs will appear, and if
you hit yes it will just gone in to the deth).
