Re: [Audyssey] Favour

Hi,

Try to change the file extention to .jpg. So simply rename your file from
whatever.exe to whatever.jpg. Then sent it through email or IM and then
rename the file back to whatever.exe.

This will often work.

Richard

 Hi,
I'd please like to know if someone on the list can help us out here.
 Damien
wants to send me the text editor, but his Microsoft Outlook won't handle
.exe files. He has suggested that, with Skype or MSN, he can send me the
file directly. My problem is that I'm an absolute beginner with both
programs, having only just installed Skype (but not as yet having read
 the
manual, and for some reason I am still having problems with the
 connection
from my Mike to my PC, so I don't have a clue how to chat, let alone how
 to
do a file transfer), and I don't have, or am fimiliar with, MSN either.
Could Damien Skype or MSN the file to someone who could then email it to
 me,
or could someone suggest another way of file delivery?
 Thanks
 Ari

You have to watch witch extension you use. Because, if use the wrong
one it may get sent in binary instead of ascii. its best to zip up
and then send. All versions of xp have this capability.

Re: [Audyssey] Favour

Yes, but quite a lot of security software can recognize an .exe within a
.zip and still refuse sending/receiving the file. So regarding that, *first*
renaming the file extention and *then* zipping your file might be another
solution :)

 Hi Ari,
I send exe files as attachments with Outlook express by zipping them up
 first.
They need to be less than about 7 mb in size after zipping since the
 attachment process makes them larger.
Windows explorer should be able to unzip them.

If the file is too large for Outlook to handle, a service like usendIt or
SendSpace will work but the zipping is lots easier to do so I would
 recommend that first.

Re: [Audyssey] Favour

2006-07-21 Thread shaun everiss
arie.
Ok not much to transfering the file.
in skype get damon to send you the file.
you will get a dialog that comes up with the prompt about a incomming file.
push enter.
A standard save as dialog comes up.
Then save it where ever.
Simularly to send a file highlight the contact, and push the application key.
From the right click menu select send file
An open dialog comes up, select the file and push enter.
And a dialog with status will come till its all over in which case
you close the box.
I've never been able to send a file without hanging up the contact
first though.
The only disadvantage is that skype with calls and contacts sometimes
not even that can be really slow
I have had the file go around .5kbps with no other thingy.
Msn is out depending on the contact will not send attachments even
when security for both contacts is ready for this to happen.
WIth email try to either zip the file or put a x on the end of the exe file.

Or zip it.
