Alright, but it would force you to go backwards in the game if you need some
more swords. That would definitely increase the complexity and you'd need
more strategy skills.

Exactly, and at the moment there has been little need to back track.
Though, the possability has been mentioned in the manual. Here is what
the manual says in Section 1.3 about general game play.
Maybe you'll need to backtrack through certain chambers. Or perhaps
forge ahead blindly.
Even test your memory to remember the location of a room you fought
through earlier.
Just be sure to keep a cool head. Use your special tools wisely. And
please - try
not to let greed blind you as you snatch up Montezuma's fabulous treasures.
The classic Montezuma's Revenge did offer an element of strategy when to
use a magic amulet or when to use a sword. neither could you have allot
of at the same time so you had to use them wizely, and if you needed one
and ran out you had to go back and get one.
FYI, in the USA Games version of the game the magic potions replaced
the amulets in case you were wondering.

Also, the fact that I sometimes die right before the end of a level kind of
annoys me. I've been thinking about a system where you will be put back to
halfway through the level if you die after a certain point. That would safe
you from a lot of walking. smile

Yeah, but that isn't cannon for classic arcade games. As you may recall
games like Mario Brothers, Packman, Double Dragon, etc put you back at
the beginning of the level you didn't complete. In this way Montezuma's
Revenge has retained it's original atari origens.

As long as it doesn't mess around with what you've coded so far, the closer
to the original the better. And, actually, I would like the idea of
limiting the number of weapons, but not the number of lives, the gamer can
attain. I think that a life earned is a bonus.

 Hi Charles,
Just for your information the clasic Montezuma's Revenge only allowed
you to carry a maximum of four swords at any given time. So if you
wanted to get more you would have to physically use a couple to get more
swords. Beta 5 currently doesn't have this restriction, but the next
release will. I was going to add it to Beta 5, but forgot to do so
 before release.
So keep that in mind when collecting potions and swords you are limited
to four each, and you have to use one to get another one.

Hi Charles,
Well, the classic Montezuma's Revenge limited you to a maximum of 6
lives at one time. The USA Games version does the same, and will
continue to. Smile
