[Audyssey] Oubliette for iOS.

2012-01-08 Thread michael barnes

Hello, All.
I have found another iOS game that is accessible with voice over, it is
called Oubliette.
And it is a real nice game! Here is the app description from the app
store, oh by the way I did played it for about a couple of hour and it
reminds me of Entomb.

Oubliette is the classic multiplayer dungeon fantasy role playing game,
finally available on the iPhone/iPod Touch. Build a party of fighters,
priests, mages and thieves to run deep into the dungeon. Test your
courage and skill against groups of orcs, trolls, vampires and dragons.

Earning its reputation as the thinking man's dungeon game, Oubliette
blends the thrill of mortal combat with the sublime challenges of
strategy, planning and adaptation. Rather than testing your reaction
speed and nerves, like a first person shooter, Oubliette challenges the
player to do careful strategic planning as well as make tactical
decisions in the heat of battle.

Each player (character) in the game is created from one of eight player
races, which vary in attributes such as strength, intelligence,
dexterity and durability. Elves are highly intelligent and
(potentially) immortal, Orcs are strong with short life spans, Dwarves
are strong with high wisdom, Kobolds are quite weak in most areas but
advance more quickly.

Depending on these attributes, each player will be qualified to join a
limited number of player classes (occupations). More balanced players
will have more choices, including Hirebrand (fighter), Mage, Priest and
Thief. Less commonly, players may be qualified for a highly selective
class with special skills such as Ranger, Sage, Paladin, Samurai or Ninja.

Unlike games which focus on a single player against multiple opponents,
Oubliette allows a party of up to 10 players with complementary skills
to face the various types of monsters found in the dungeon. There are
more than 160 different monsters, and to deal with them, more than 150
different pieces of equipment, which may be enchanted with special
properties or skills.

Oubliette is challenging, but forgiving. New players commonly have
their parties wiped out by an unfamiliar group of monsters. In fact,
your party can meet up to 3 monster groups at the same time! Use the
Temporal Chamber to save a Temporal Portal before dangerous trips. If
things turn out badly, use the Temporal Chamber to turn back the clock
and try again. The trapeze is every bit as thrilling, but safer, with a
net below.

If you are up to the challenge, Oubliette is free to download and play.
Explore the easier levels of the dungeon to build your party and
expertise. And then, when you are ready, feel the power of the game on
the deeper levels. Onward to Glory!

Yeah, you can walk around and fight things, but I doubt you'll be able to
find your way out of the dungeon again so you'd eventually just lose your
party and have to start over. Still it's worth checking out. If you, or
anyone else reading this, find it to your liking, would you mind shooting
the devs an email asking for improved voice over support? Since the game is
mostly playable already it really wouldn't take much, and I figure if we can
get enough support behind it it might happen.

Hey.
I notice when you use the scroll the arrows indicate which way you should go.
However that wouldn't be a bad idea.

2012-01-08 Thread Shadow Dragon
The problem is, as the tutorial says, that scroll only has a limited number
of uses. So once the scroll is out, how will you find your way out of the
dungeon then? And how do you know where you're going to get further into the
dungeon? And how do you know where rooms are so you can fight monsters that
actually have treasure? Just curious, I'd really like to play this game but
I didn't find dungeon navigation accessible enough to really play, as I said
it seems you can only wander around, fight monsters and if you want to use
all your scroll up, you can get back out. But it doesn't seem like you could
go down to further levels or find any rooms accept by luck.

2012-01-08 Thread Shadow Dragon
Well, I suggested a coordinate system, but I think that would break the
challenge for sighted players. Michael just gave me a really good idea
though. He pointed out that the cartographer's scroll changes the labels of
the arrows to indicate the path back to the stairs. I just emailed the
developer back with a suggestion that maybe the arrows could indicate
terrain type, like wall, coridor or room. He said he'll think about some of
the suggestions in my first email, and he hasn't replied to my second, but
it looks promising at least.

Yes.
I understand that. I did however sent a message to the developer, to
suggest the ideas of having indicator and compass in the game for the
blind gamers.

I encourage anyone else that would enjoy the game to do the same.

Michael, you really need to be more careful about the information you post
to this list. You need to be more thorrough in your If you're going to put a
game up for use you need to be more thorrough in your investigation of the
game action and you also need to be more careful about putting up email
addresses. I just sent off an email to the first address you put up for
oubliette and it was the wrong address, then you put up another address and
you now claim that this one is the right address. Please be more careful in
