Hi Bryan, Right. However, if a person reinstalls Windows using the exact same registration information, has the exact same admin account, etc the GMA user code shouldn't change. I've owned those games for at least 10 years and have only had to get a new lisence key for new PCs, or for an old machine that got a new motherboard or something. Hi Ryan, I think the problem comes if you change your settings in the f1 help menu. You can change them fine when playing but if you want to save them so the game uses the new settings the next time you play, then it tries to write to the sounds.ini file or something like that which newer versions of windows doesn't like. Re: [Audyssey] Question about purchasing Gma games
Hi, The GMA games were written in visual basic 6 that is not supported by current versions of windows any more. You need the vb6 libraries added to your computer before playing them. I think Shades of Doom has those libraries and should be installed first. I am not sure about LW or TC. I know that Pacman does not have them as I wrote it. GMA games is one person, David, and when he goes on vacation or has real life issues to deal with, he might not be able to get you a new registration key in a timely manner. The same goes for my PCS games that use the GMA engine. Right now David is working on an update for some of his games to install them somewhere other than c:\program files. Re: [Audyssey] Question about purchasing Gma games
Oh yes, was going to get Pacman Talks as wel. Don't have any concerns over registration of the game though for that one. Yes that is my concern; you have to contact them for a new code and I can see that being a pain. Cheers anyway. There's a certain ID number that your computer has, and you have to give that to them in order to get your key. Your computer registration ID changes every time you reformat, and obviously on another computer. Don't get me wrong, the games are great. If you want them though, you'll have to put up with getting a new code every time something changes. Oh, and don't forget about the classic game Pacman. That's always fun to play too. :) Good luck, Ryan -- Original Message -- From: Chris H To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: [Audyssey] Question about purchasing Gma games Date: Fri, 31 May 2013 08:56:24 +0100 Hello all. Here is another company I am interested in purchasing their titles in the future. Due to their registration system I thought I would ask for your comments first. Have you had any problems registering a second computer? Have you had problems registering the same computer after a format and Windows reinstall for example? I understand they can give you a key replacement at no charge, but have you all received the replacement key and if so did it work? The games I am interested in are: 1. Shades of Doom. One of the first accessible games I've ever played. I in fact purchased this years ago, but my key probably won't work now due to the new system they have implemented in 1.2x. 2. Gma Tank Commander. Although I never succeed in this game, the sounds and action are great. Not sure about Lone Wolf. Could never really understand it. Probably not my type of game anyway. Oh cool, cheers! Sorry thought it was based on specific hardware or something and any changes to it requires a new code.
