Thanks Cara, I'll look again into all this, if you can actually download it

2008-01-13 Thread Cara Quinn
Zack, when you hear a turn sound moving in a particular direction
ahead of you, continue moving forward until you hear that sound play
once more in a very pronounced way, if that makes sense. That will
signal you that you're in line with the passage you're hearing, and
then press the appropriate (left or right) arrow key four times which
will turn you 90 degrees providing you have left the default options
set... Then you should be able to simply walk straight down the new
passage.

to get used to this, make sure you're walking rather than running
when you're learning this. It can help...

HTH and hope yer' having an awesome evening!...

Ari, I use EBay all the time with no probs at all. smile As for
getting it in your country, I'd think you can, but am not sure...

As for Quake, alas, no, I know of no store at present that has it
aside from *well, you asked me not to say it!* lol! So I won't...

You should know though, that you don't need the paid version of the
game to enjoy the mods or online play YOu can also play the
entire first episode of the single player game if you'd like. So the
shareware version may be quite enough if you're interested in those
game types...

Best of luck to you and sorry I couldn't be of more help...

Have a great day and catch ya on the flip!...

The registered quake game is not widely available in stores, as has been
discussed, because it was made nearly twenty years ago...goes to show you
the delays we face.
Anyway, IDSoftware, the makers of Quake, have abandoned it, if memory

I can assist anyone who is interested in setting up aliases for turning
ninety degrees quickly. I, in fact, have a mod.cfg file which allows for
expanded features based on aliases. In other words, I made a commands file
to go with the JQ mods which allows for greater functionality. For example,
I can look up or down. That, my friends, is rare. I can rapidly turn ninety
degrees. I have removed some of my less favorite features, no offense, from
the mod file to customize it. If anyone wants to try it, let me know. I will
provide it and tell you how to install it.

Actually this is not completely true. quake was made in 96 and you
can download the source code and shareware game, however, the full
game is still under copyright to my knowledge, and the maps (after the
first episode) can only be gotten legally from that CD.

However, I'm not sure anyone would likely prosecute someone
for obtaining them as I believe you can do so widely on the web, and
as you said, the game is old and no longer supported...

Re: [Audyssey] SAPI issue fixed

2008-01-13 Thread Dakotah Rickard
Oh, we've met. I'm usually known as Liberty or Slade. I have rather enjoyed
our few encounters online
Only thing is, I haven't downloaded or installed the later RC's from agrip.
I'm still with the old version, the one that's been out for forever. I'm
kind of waiting for the bugs to get ironed out...a weird turn of phrase,
ironing bugs...anyway, I'm waiting for that to happen before I download it.
At least I'd like to see it be as stable as the old release. Can't figure
out what's different about it except for authentication...no offense
hardworking agrip team...and I registered my player names, just to make sure
nobody grabs them, but I'm not too concerned with my stats as an individual
against others in a ranking table. Thing about being up high on that table
is people want to get higher. If you're low, you got a whole table to climb.
Since I'm probably middle-ground to low-upper material, I'm not worried
about it.

Anyway, think I'll cut short this tidal wave of chatter and move onto the
next text-typed tsunami of terror.

Zack, when you hear a turn sound moving in a particular direction
ahead of you, continue moving forward until you hear that sound play
once more in a very pronounced way, if that makes sense. That will
signal you that you're in line with the passage you're hearing, and
then press the appropriate (left or right) arrow key four times which
will turn you 90 degrees providing you have left the default options
set... Then you should be able to simply walk straight down the new
 passage.

Re: [Audyssey] SAPI issue fixed

2008-01-13 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,
Actually, it is better than that. Around year 2000 or so ID Software
released the quake 1 engine as open source as well as the quake pak file
format. The only thing that wasn't open sourced was the pak file
containing the graphics and sounds. However, anyone hosting the link to
the source code usually has a link to the sounds and graphics as well.
I am suspecting the open source nature of the Quake engine is how
Michael was able to do all the modifications he did to Quake.

Anyway, IDSoftware, the makers of Quake, have abandoned it, if memory
serves. That means that you can find it and download it without penalty or
 legal ramification.

actually you can buy it from id at least thats what I remember.
However there is no actual protection over their download servers so if you get
the right link...
I also have a copy of the origional cd with soundtrack.
You really only need pak0 and pak1 .pak though.
If this is abandoned I can probably put it up if people want it.

I think you can buy the download through id.
its 25 bucks, and 25mb in size.
At 04:42 p.m. 14/01/2008, you wrote:
Actually this is not completely true. quake was made in 96 and you
can download the source code and shareware game, however, the full
game is still under copyright to my knowledge, and the maps (after the
first episode) can only be gotten legally from that CD.

However, I'm not sure anyone would likely prosecute someone
for obtaining them as I believe you can do so widely on the web, and
as you said, the game is old and no longer supported...

ah hello again then! smile Yes, I remember you!...

Yes, the main thing in this latest RC is Mauth implementation but
for myself, the next thing *I* will do is to resolve an issue with the
engine whereby sound resources are limited...

So that will open up a whole lot more in terms of mods or more
detailed sounds for current access features...

the game was written to run well on systems of eleven years ago,
and did so elegantly, but now, some of those caps can be raised...

Anyway, awesome to match a name with well, another name! lol!...

Have an awesome evening and catch ya soon!...
