Did you install them in any particular order? The dot net components must be installed first, then the latest directx run time libraries need to follow. -- Raul A. Re: [Audyssey] STFC installation issue.
Hi Christopher, Keep in mind the proper order for installing STFC is this. 1. Install .Net 2.0. 2. Install DirectX 9.0C (June 2007) or later. 3. Install STFC 1.0. If you didn't install in exactly that order that is most likely the cause for your crash. Finally, I'd like to point out STFC 1.2 is about to come out in a few hours. Once I update the web site, finish with the manual, compile the installer, etc it will be out the door. So hold onto your seat for 1.2 to be out in a little while. Re: [Audyssey] STFC installation issue.
Hi Christopher, Oh, I see your problem now. Understand that file on my web site is a self extracting file. What it does, and all it does is extracts the setup files to a temp directory. You have to manually go to that folder and run setup.exe to actually do the install. Your DirectX is not installed as of this point, because all you did was extract it not install it. I think I am going to extract that stupid file, and make a setup for it so end users stop making this common mistake. For whatever reason that is the way MS made the installer, and I hate it. G Sometimes MS really ticks me off. Christopher Bartlett wrote: When I ran the directX installer, it put a bunch of cab files in the folder I specified. Do I need to put these anywhere in particular, or is there a second step to installing the DirectX libraries? Re: [Audyssey] STFC installation issue.
Hi, PS I'm working on a new setup for DirectX using the Aug 2007 eddition, and hope to have it posted soon. I'll let the list know when the new and improved setup is up. The Aug eddition installer I am going to custom make won't have this goofie issue where it extracts the files only, and forces you to find the dxsetup.exe file manually to install. It will just do it. I'm also adding in the multilanguage eddition so all should be cool here very soon. Thomas Ward wrote: Hi Christopher, Oh, I see your problem now. Re: [Audyssey] STFC installation issue.
Hi. I'm not sure to be honest. When I ran the directx setup, it downloaded and automatically installed the necessary components. I did not need to manually extract anything to a temp directory. It just worked. Perhaps Tom Ward has a better answer. Christopher Bartlett wrote: When I ran the directX installer, it put a bunch of cab files in the folder I specified. Re: [Audyssey] STFC installation issue.
Hi Raul and all, I have the solution for this annoying problem uploading to my web site right now. I'll let everyone know as soon as the 100 MB folder of updates finishes upgrading the USA Games site. I've got some awesome news coming. Raul A. Gallegos wrote: Hi. I'm not sure to be honest.
