Re: [Audyssey] XP Gamer Woes (?)
Hi Bill, The problem you are facing has to do with the fact that Jaws and other screen readers do not play along well with DirectX. Games that use DirectInput lock up when the screen reader is running because the fact Jaws and the game are both trying to get direct access to the keyboard at the same time. The solution here is to either turn your screen reader off completely when playing the game, (recommended,) or put your screen reader to sleep while running the game. HTH William L. Hi Bill, I can only answer for Q9, but it sounds as though you might have your screen reader still running. If so, you either need to shut it down or in the case of Jaws put it to sleep, before the program will respond to any commands. This is not true of all screen readers, but without knowing which one you use it is the first piece of advice that I can give you. Kind regards, Philip Bennefall - Original Message - From: William L. I can only speak for q9, but you need to either shut down your screen reader of choice before launching it, or have it go into sleep mode once it starts up. This should clear up your issues with the arrow keys. Allison http://www.allisonmervis.com/ - Original Message - From: William L. I play them on XP - some of them anyway. Is your screenreader being turned off? Sometimes jaws will catch keystrokes and while it's not doing anything with them, the games won't see them... Re: [Audyssey] XP Gamer Woes (?)
Well, if that's the cause of the problem, smugglers 4 as I said needs to be navigated by your dolphin curser, jaws curser or window eyes curser, and as for core exiles, well the list boxes are just standard net list boxes and should read without trouble, though it's difficult to suggest anything without knowing what screen reader your using.
