Re: [Audyssey] alter aeon help needed

2015-04-11 Thread Travis Siegel
My first alter aeon char was a warrior/druid, and I found that combination
works very well. When you're in battle, simply cast earth wall, and let it do
your defending, while you pound away on the offending miscrient. I also have
two other chars, and while they work, I find it much harder to complete things
w/o the druid spells to assist.
On the other hand, one of my other two has a relatively high level in cleric,
and they have a peace spell, and that can go a long way to helping out when you
just have to stop a battle.
Each class has it's own unique contributions to the game, and if you can mix
and match them well enough, you'll do just fine, it's really a matter of
remembering which skills/spells you have, and using them in proper
combinations. Also, don't forget the alias commands. I use several battle
aliases that automatically perform multiple commands for me, such as lunge and
magic missile, or kick and blue dart, (or something similar) I have several of
these setup, so I can type b1 or b2 (for battle1 or battle2) and they will
perform my commands automatically without me having to type them in each time.
It's very handy.
Another one I use is one to show my experience, and it's setup like this:
level|grep experience
If you put it in an alias, you'll need to put a \ character before the | symbol
to make it work, but tricks like that can allow some pretty complex aliases to
be created.
Hope this helps.

Those blobs in particular are pretty tough. Given that you're a mage, I'd
highly recommend that you make use of your necromancer levels and make some
minions to take at least a few of the hits for you. Your strategy is
(relatively) sound, and at this point there's not really a lot more you can
do, other than making sure you have as many defensive spells up as you can.
Tactics will come in later once you have stronger secondary classes with a
greater variety of skills to call upon.

Subject: [Audyssey] alter aeon help needed

Hello,

I have been playing alter aeon for a couple of weeks now. My
character is now an 18th level mage, with levels in thief, necro, and
cleric. I have made it to the second island, and have played through
quite a few of the quests there. My issue is that I have a couple of
the quests I just seem to get demolished every time I try them. I am
not sure what I am doing wrong. At level 18 I would imagine I should
be able to handle the 14th level broom quest in the Mad Alcomist's
castle, but the blue blobs there destroy me every single time.

I am wondering if there is some aspect of the game that I just am not
getting. My basic battle plan is to cast spells as quickly as
possible, but I tend to run out of mana very quickly, and then I don't
seem to have any options left but to flee. Are there commands I
should use in combat that I am not, such as ones to attack or defend
myself?

Thanks,

Denny

the minion suggestion is a good one, and if you have the mage spell shards it
helps a bit. or blue dart. And try to have a slashing weapon (short sword or
what not) that is good against blob type mobs.

Re: [Audyssey] alter aeon help needed

2015-04-07 Thread Dennis Towne
One of the more powerful techniques available to mages is the 'charge
spell' approach. The spells 'burning hands' and 'shocking grasp' can
do a tremendous amount of damage when they hit, and you can cast them
both on yourself before starting battle. You can also cast them on
certain minions, like the clay man. Against the blobs, one or two
charge spells should kill them outright.

You do have to give up an item to use the spells, but it's totally
worth it. Make sure you keep your weapon, and give up your shield or
held item.

Also, make sure to use the 'check' command to look over your character
and see if you've missed any of the more important skills and spells.

[Audyssey] Alter Aeon help needed warning spoilers

2013-01-19 Thread Keith

Spoiler Alert
Spoiler Alert
Spoiler Alert
Spoiler Alert

Okay, I'm in Dragon tooth. I've just about tapped all i can get from that
town, and am ready to moe on to Ralneth and the elemental planes.

In the dwarf mines, Southeast of DT, I have found the hidden mithril chest.
I do not have the key to open it. I do have the blue prints, that the dwarf
smith talks about topside. He says I need a small rock of mithril to have
him make the key for me. Where do I get this key? I have found the mithril
coins in the mines and have given said coins to the dwarf who will dig for
one coin. He ends up giving you coal, the odd copper helmet, or opens a
portal to the mainland. Nothing else.

So, where do I find this rock of mithril? Lso, there are 3 dwarves talking
about some type of wand, which I think I found (the wand portion at least).
I have the wooden wand and the shimmering stone from the crazy dwarf who
makes the fish helm for you.

Also in the deep gnome complex under DT, thre is a vault with a chest. Is
this chest a joke, is it always empty? I have found the key to that one,
but it's always empty.

And no, the rock of mithril I am needing is not the globe you get after
defeating the golem. That is used in making a helm you get a scheme for by
killing a dwarf, but the smith makes it sound like thre are more schemes to
be had, but if there are, I can't find them. And I've killed everyone but
the archmage.
