Re: [Audyssey] dark room and programming for Wiimotes

2009-02-10 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Ken,
Learning to program in Java is not too bad. If you have any background
in C++, C#, etc then Java will be a peace of cake. If not it might take
you a little longer to get the necessary skills, but Java is fairly easy
to learn as far as languages goes.
If you want an IDE Eclipse is fairly accessible both on Windows and
Linux. I've used it several times. Though I personally prefer to code in
notepad and compile via the javac command line compiler myself. However,
Eclipse is fine if you want to use that.
If you want to really discuss this in depth sign up for my developers
mailing list on the USA Games mail server

and I'll be able to fill you in on your options.
Smile.

How hard is programming in Java, and does anyone know about Eclipse, and
whether or not the libraries and plug-ins are accessible? If so, it would
give me a good foundation for programming a Wii-based game as VB6 isn't going
to support bluetooth stacks--to my knowlege anyway. I looked at VB.net express
and it was a maze of confusion from the get-go, so I'm looking again at new
programming languages to learn, and I thought that this might be a good start
as there is code relating to the use of the Wiimotes.
