Re: [Audyssey] online registration issues was Re: game cracking
Hi Yohandy, I guess it depends on how well you know how to work with command line only programs. My admin work brings me into contact with a lot of such tools for servers so for me a tool like nmap is fairly simple and easy to use. Unlike the general population of the world I haven't forgotten how to run a computer from a c: prompt or from a Linux shell. I guess that givs me an advantage over the Windows-only croud that grew up when Dos and other command line software were already ancient history. Grin. Anyway, I think the nmap docs should explain the various command line options pretty well. If you ever forget what they are you can get a summary of them from nmap. Hey thom, hehe well guess you already answered my question lol. before I rush off and download this, is this program difficult to use? I never use these sort of troubleshooting tools, so am a bit hesitant. - Original Message - From: "Thomas Ward" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Thursday, July 31, 2008 7:39 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] online registration issues was Re: game cracking > Hi Yohandy, > Well, the first step is to varify port x is actually being blocked. Hi Yohandy, Well, the first step is to varify port x is actually being blocked. To do that you need a port scanner such as nmap which is a very good open source tool for diagnosing networking problems like this. In the case of ftp the port you need to check is port 21That is usually the port ftp runs on, and some firewalls do block that port unless you reconfigure them. As for finding out what is running on a certain port usually you can find out what is running on any given port. The way to do it largely depends on the OS in question. Well, FTP is generally used for port21. Online registration, it depends how the data is being sent, either via a TCP or a file being uploaded or downloaded, or written to a server etc. We don't know all the technical details but some online registrations it is possible that they use FTP themselves, which may be why it's not working. [Audyssey] online registration issues was Re: game cracking
I'm pretty sure that's exactly what the problem is. now for the big question. Is there a way I can check if certain ports are being used for any applications? Since ftp and online registration are both blocked, this must be a port or range of ports. it is certainly frustrating, and I've been trying to figure this out for months. - Original Message - From: "Damien Sadler" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Gamers Discussion list" Sent: Wednesday, July 30, 2008 3:44 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] game cracking > Hi Yohandy, > It's probably a port blockage somewhere. > Regards, > Damien > > > > - Original Message - > From: "Yohandy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "Gamers Discussion list" > Sent: Wednesday, July 30, 2008 4:43 PM > Subject: Re: [Audyssey] game cracking > > >> and you know what sucks?
