Re: [Audyssey] war games and the blind eye
Hi Shaun, you mean that it's been developed by Vipgameszone too? Can you tell me whether the contact e-mail address they have on their web page still works then? I used to test Super Tenis for about a day (due to an unfortunate accident preventing me from downloading any further betas) and I even offered IGor to become a distributor here in my country but quickly found out that there was too little interest here in order for it to mean some advantage. I've written to him when I saw that they were looking for beta testers but never got an answer back, and I did it the day after the last Audyssey issue was released... Know that it's probably already too late for me, but asking just out of curiosity and for future reference, anyway. :-) Just interested whether the email [EMAIL PROTECTED] still works and is used. Thanks, Lukas - Original Message - From: shaun everiss [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Monday, April 24, 2006 12:28 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] war games and the blind eye well there is another online game in the works. I am testing it. I can't give away much, but if you think of monopoly and substatute the board of streats, stations and other things for planets then thats basically that. Its still in alpha. In fact I am getting the latest version of it now. Offline testing is done. ONline testing is a bit harder, but we are getting there. Saying that galaxy ranger is the only other game from there that I really like. I never have completed it though, but yeah I may get it some time. ___ Gamers mailing list .. Re: [Audyssey] war games and the blind eye
After Nicol's comments about Showdown this morning and the discussion on Super Tennis, I just wondered whether is it possible to also have a system in SD where you could choose to hit the ball iether to the left, along the middle, or to the right? Some people might like the guessing work of hitting space, so this feature could be turned iether on or off. Unlike Super Tennis, if you're near the right end of the table and you hit the ball to the right, it would be great if the ball could sort of bounce off the wall, maybe if you are totally on the edge of the table and you hit the ball to the right it could iether then go off the table, or make a drastic bounce off the right-side wall. Another thing I was wondering was, what determines whether you or the computer shoots the ball off the table, is it luck or is it a mistiming of shot? Has anyone actually managed to beat the insane level? I get to hard, and depending on things, sometimes I win, sometimes it wins, sometimes for some reason the ball is always in the right place for me and I play a excellent game, I actually beat hard by quite far. Other times, though hard thrashes me, and things don't go that well, in that I'm iether out of position, hit the ball of the table, and basically maybe I'm not up for the sort of sharpness needed in such a game. I don't know if it's a mental thing when I'm not playing that well, but one thing I do know is that even when I do feel that I am playing a good game, insane is really difficult, and I never come close to beat it! Have you guys noticed that insane moves it's bat faster and more then any of the other levels, and the step from hard to insane is quite different and high. It really is one of the most fun and realistic games I play over and over again. However, as Richard from Audiogames stated, you don't really need a surround sound system, just good stereo headphones or even speakers, but it's almost impossible to me to play it just with speakers. :-) Imagine yourself walking through an unknown environment without a white cane. You'd probably encounter the same difficulties you've been describing - I've tried that myself personally so I can confirm that it's really almost impossible and might even be dangerous, especially if there is lots of disturbance. I think the way in which the city soundscape and the limited physics are simulated is really excellent and the conceptual idea is an interesting element as well... As for Showdown: I am not a true programmer myself yet (programming only in Sinclair Basic, Autoit and Borland Turbo Pascal 3.0 (the language that was most commonly used for Eureka A4 if you wanted to create a bit more complicated programs than its Basic interpreter offered)) but I still think it wouldn't have to be all that difficult really. Take Top Speed 2 as an example - and this game is even more demanding. In Showdown, you would just have to track the serve and then send the few bytes of data to the opponent's computer, where it would be processed off-line and then the corresponding data output would be sent back, and so on... Would not even have to require a fast connection, perhaps dialup should be enough. Could have as simple ip tracking system as Top Speed and his original Tictactoe have. It's possible that I might have been missleading again though, so please correct me someone more involved if my assumptions are way too imaginative. :-) And for the sounds: I meant that they are as high-quality as nothing else I've ever heard, specially the sports games... Simple, isn't it? :-) They sound so well that I can clearly see myself standing behind the goal hole at my side of the table, trying to defend it from a hard attacking rival. :-) Thanks, Lukas - Original Message - From: ari [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, April 23, 2006 7:04 PM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] war games and the blind eye Hi Richard, The Blind Eye is a game where you have to walk through a city, gather instruments, and bring them to an organ, where they all play together. Lukas, thanks for telling me about the 3d sound thing, maybe it's then because I don't really have that great surround sound. About a online Showdown game, it must be quite difficult to do actually, if you think of things like the sound scheme. What do you mean that the sounds were recorded during a live showdown game? Hi Richard, I also tried The Blind Eye and found it quite difficult to navigate. It was quite hard to distinguish between sounds of walking and sounds of, of bumping into things. I want to try it again to see if I can get better at it, or even to see if I misjudged it's game play or the ability of getting around. I'd love to know others thoughts on this game. Re: [Audyssey] war games and the blind eye
HI, www.vipgameszone.com is the correct URL for Galaxy Ranger. That was a cool example - seems like the only accessible game of this kind currently, you shall definitely try it. And Blind Eye is perfectly accessible - it's just incredibly difficult to play successfully, as it is based completely on the 3D sound positioning. Hope this helps, Lukas - Original Message - From: Ken's mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Sunday, April 23, 2006 5:48 AM Subject: [Audyssey] war games and the blind eye I'm in the mood for a type of war/battle game (not something like tank commander, I'm thinking of something multi-player, or online). Hey Richard, I apprecinate that information. Well since it is no longer available online, how would someone get it. I mean it kind of sounds interesting, but I had read, or at least thought I had, that there was something out there like a private detective or private investigator. I don't know if I would play it more than once. I mean if it was more like a private investigator game I might, but I don't know for sure. If you decide to put it back online, let me know I may try it once. BEAN ___ Gamers mailing list .. Hi Richard, Their's a brilliant game involving a private detective called Gumshoe, which is part of the Time's Ashes Collection. Their is also a private detective game (I haven't tried it yet) at www.codefactory.es I don't have the link for the Times Ashes Collection, but if you're inbox can hold about 8 MB, I can try emailing it to you. Let me know off-list if you want it, or someone else can tell you where to download Time's Ashes collection from.
