[Audyssey] Puppy1

2008-08-05 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi,

I have set a new personal enemies shot down record. And I used a joystick to
do it. Pretty strange too because it took me some time to get used to playing
with a joystick. It was like a whole new game getting used to flying with and
moving the joystick correctly after being so used to pressing the keys to fly
in the direction I needed to.

Puppy1 record file By Jim Kitchen
Record number of enemy planes shot down 98 for a total score of 97,484 points.

Hi Damien, Louis and Thomas,

Thank you for understanding why I would not want my name on a game that I did
not code etc.

If it doesn't say Kitchen's Inc on it. Someone else made it.

Re: [Audyssey] Games for your mobile device are finally here

2008-08-05 Thread Jim Kitchen
Hi Louis,

A long time ago I did buy a few of the low priced sound effect CDs, and I have
been collecting sound files since I first got on a BBS back in 1990. Plus I do
record or make some of the sounds for my games. But most recently some of the
sounds that I have used in games such as Puppy1, Homer on a Harley etc came
from the very very old but still very much alive NewsGroups. You know ones like
alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.sound-effects
alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.video-games

BTW a sighted friend of mine set up a NewsGroups robot program for me to scarf
the sound files from those groups.

Re: [Audyssey] old game companies we have not heard much about

2008-08-05 Thread shaun everiss
true.
 I have xp running on a core2duo 2.0ghz cpu.
with xp, in preperation for vista if I really had to use it I put a second gb
of ram in the box, I was tempted to max it out by putting another gb on that
but I didn't have the cash.
My dad's system is faster at 2.20ghz.
Runs much faster with internals but this was the fastest and cheapest system I
could get at the time.
The last transitional system or one of the last ones.

Hi Damien,
Yeah, I can definitely tell you a 1.8 GHZ processor is way too slow for
Vista. It would technically run, but it would run pretty slow. Vista is
a massive resource hog, and one reason it needs a really new computer to
run half way decent.
In 2007 whenI was evaluating Vista my first mistake was I initially did
the install on a 2 GHZ Celeron machine with 512 MB of ram. It ran so
slow I couldn't believe it. I upgraded the system to 1 GB of ram, and it
ran a little better, but was still pretty slow. I was so disgusted with
Vista's system performence I removed Vista from that box and put XP back
on their.
Currently my wife and I have two laptops with 3.6 GHZ processors and 1
GB of ram and Vista runs ok on them. It doesn't seam too slow. Sure
Linux and Windows XP would actually run better on these laptops, but
Vista needed the 3.6 GHZ processor to run like XP on a 1.2 GHZ machine.
Every time I read the Vista system requirements online I have to laugh,
because they are dead wrong. Acording to Microsoft Vista needs an 800
MHZ processor, 512 MB of ram, at least an 8 GB hard drive, etc. I have
never tried Vista on a system with those specs, but if a computer with a
2 GHZ processor and 1 GB of ram couldn't do it effectively a system
such as Microsoft describes would take 20 years to boot, to load web
pages, open applications, etc.
you know with system performence like that out of Vista I am almost
afraid to see what Windows 7 needs. I think Windows has reached the
point where it is just bloted, a huge resource hog, and half the stuff
they added was unnecessary. Like did they really need to add the 3D
Windows Arrow interface? Did the Windows Arrow desktop have to double
system resources just to show the desktop in 3D? Did all the icons have
to have 3D animation and move around slowing the system to a crawl? No,
but they did it anyway.

 Hi Thomas,
That's interesting because my current laptop, which was originally going to
have Vista on it, is only a 1.8ghz Celeron processor.

most of my sounds are from the web, www.therecordest.com
www.findsounds.com.
Some of them I get from sighted game disks, I have about 5 10 dollar cds and
anobher copple recorded by friends.
I also have tapes of a disk but no way to transfer em anywhere.
Some I have from friend's private servers, although I was lucky there to get
those.
Some were sent to me again I was lucky there.

[Audyssey] Rail Racer Summer Burn 2008

2008-08-05 Thread Che
  Hi all,
We're starting a new tournament this weekend, so if you want to participate,
go to the tournaments link at
http://www.blindadrenaline.com/railRacer/tournaments.html
Register with the system if you have not done so already, then sign up for
the new tournament on the tournaments page.
Please note you must have version 1.53 of the full game installed to race
online, check out the main page of the site for details.
We're gonna be meeting on the team talk server to voice chat as well during
the competition, I'll be sending out more info about that later on.
Don't worry if you are a new racer, this tournament will decide who goes to
the next level of competition with the top half of the finishers of this
tournament playing in the Pro tournament and the bottom half in the amateur
class, with winners to be declared in both leagues, so everyone will find their
level of competition.
Right now, I am hoping to start the first set of races Midnight Friday august
8 eastern time, but I will let you know when the start time is fully decided.
If you are new to the system, be sure and read the instructions on the
tournament page, not a llot to it really and if you have questions, you can ask
on the chat page of the tournament web page, this is a good place to talk smack
with your competition as well, and we have a lot of fun with it.
Hope to see you all on the tracks,
  Che
