Re: [DRAFT] Incubator PMC Board Report - May 2022

2022-05-11 Thread XiaoYu
Hi Justin

I have a small question and need your help.

The incubator report for the shenyu project is in group 1 (1,4.7,11)

But in May, the community was also notified of the need to submit
reports, is it now a monthly report?

Looking forward to your reply!

thanks!

Hi,

In general, votes should last 72 hours to allow people to respond. It is
unusual for a graduation vote to only be held for 24 hours. Is there any reason
for needed for the short voting time?

[MENTORS] Make sure your reporting groups are accurate for new podlings

2022-05-11 Thread John D. Ament
Hi all mentors,

Don't forget that when you're adding a podling to podlings.xml, their
reporting group should be based on the month that they enter the
incubator. For a podling that is voted in in April, they should be in
reporting group 2, and have a monthly attribute set to May, June, July.
Yes, that means they are intended to give 4 straight months of reports. We
expect their first report is very sparse.

You could argue, and I don't think anyone would fight it, that a vote in
the tail end of the month would result in group 3, but never group 1. This
would be because basic resources may not be created in time for the
reporting period to have begun, and we can't remind the podling at that
point.

Hi,

I believe it is. If you modify the Json and rerun the clutch you’ll notice it
updates content/clutch/podlings_graduated.txt. Other script like report_who.py
no longer list YuniKorn as needing to report.

I saw that, and that's actually my complaint. When you generate a new
report it spits out the report for you in the console. When it's updating
it spits out the diff. Neither case tells you the file is staged somewhere
to be uploaded to confluence. I'm going to try it again for June, but this
time removing all contents to see if it generates better. But that'll be
after the current month is finalized.

I don't believe this is the issue. I actually tried completely blowing
away the entry in shepherds assignment and regenerating and Yunikorn
remained. Though I was assuming it would use my local shepherd assignment
and not what was in SVN, is that correct? I never committed my change
removing the entry.

Once generated, you can regenerate them by removing the entry in the json file.
It might not be too hard to add the ability to regenerate them for a given
month in the future.

It always ends up in report.txt you can see the previous reports in the reports
directory. New reports will have _new in the name in there.

The podling xml file looks fine to me. I think this is just because it is in
the shepherd json file. Removing it fixes the issue for next month. Removing
the future assignments would probably fix any similar issues from happening.
Want me to do this?

Kind Regards,
Justin

Re: Question - are the confluence diffs readable for the Incubator report?

2022-05-11 Thread Justin Mclean
Hi,

The page history and page comparison helps a bit but it’s still not great. The
TLP reporting tool would need support for some extra fields and ability for
mentor sign off before it could be used.

Kind Regards,
Justin

2022-05-11 Thread Justin Mclean
Hi,

A while back when I looked at the MxNet project there seemed to be a lot of
trademark and branding issues. Have theses been addressed by the project?

A quick google search seems to show they may not have been and some more work
is needed here?
