The vote is now closed. It passes with 4 binding +1s and 1 binding -1, and
I have fixed the issue of -1.

I will work on the release steps next and send out the announcement after

Yes, the java client code has not been donated to ASF yet, as I mentioned
above. The migration is expected to be done during incubation.

Pegasus Java client [1] that is linked to from the front page. This particular

Pegasus website is developed by this repo[1], we will fix these issues
later, and the website's code isn't inclueded in this release source
package.
I‘m not sure if it is a blocker for this release?

Yes it matters, you are linking to a non ASF product from the front page of an 
ASF site. [1] People could be confused that this is an ASF product when it is 
not.

I'm following this guide [1] to open this vote thread in incubator’s general 
list,
which is the 2nd step. The vote thread you checked in dev list is the 1st step,
all the voters are PPMC, not IPMC.

+1 but only because of WIP disclaimer

Only IPMC votes are binding on releases, projects often like to get 3+ PPMC 
votes on their releases on their dev list first, but you still need 3 IPMC +1 
votes (and more +1s than -1s) to make a release.

I’m also concerned about linking to a non ASF release in a non ASF repo from 
the projects home page [1]. This release hasn’t been voted on by the IPMC and 
should be removed. Also please don’t link to GitHub from the front page in the 
way you are doing so, as you are pointing users to unreleased code, and please 
do not mark something as released in GitHub before it has passed the IPMC vote. 
[2]

With the missing ASF headers it makes it impossible to know if a file is a 3rd 
party file or an ASF file and the contents of LICENSE can’t be accurately 
checked.

So for this particular release I checked:
- incubating in name
- signatures and hashes are correct
- disclaimer (WIP) exists
- NOTICE needs year updating
- files are missing ASF headers please fix this
- no unexpected binary files
- unable to compile from source but probably my environment is not set up 
correctly

I did actually. ASF release policy requires releases to be distributed via
dist.Apache.org. This doesn’t matter if it’s on the downloads page or the
landing page. You should not be distributing via GitHub

OK, the docker error is because of my env. After restarting the problem is
gone. I could successfully build from source, and pack server, client and
tools.

See here, for the NuttX release vote, an IPMC member challenged why the
PPMC votes are not listed as binding votes, and now, for the Pegasus
release, an IPMC member challenged why the PPMC votes are listed as binding
votes...

And this is not their first incubator release, the first release is 2.1.0.

And I'm not sure what you are referring to about the 'old releases are
linked directly on the homepage'.

DISCLAIMER-WIP: in place
Tried to build with docker: failed. Can not resolve any hostnames inside
the container, not sure what is the problem and there is even no nslookup
command. I just use the 'apachepegasus/build-env:centos7' image.
Sees the config_hdfs.sh should be placed into scripts directory?
