I would /really/ recommend switching to the amarok-svn ebuild (it's not an official package and I can't remember where I got it - try google). I'm not usually one for running CVS/SVN software (some programs segfault enough when they're supposedly stable), but I made an exception for this and wasn't disappointed (if anything, it's more stable than the 1.2.* versions and has a bunch of new features) Paul pgpUdn50oabXh.pgp Description: PGP signature

I remember something like that scrolling past when I installed it, but it just kept on going, and xalan and xerces were installed in the end. On my system, I think Netbeans was installed as a dependecy (possibly from KDevelop, I'm not sure), so that could be it. pgp5aYPlYgXwz.pgp Description: PGP signature

OTOH, the Mozilla suite is pretty widespread over in msft-land too, so many people know about Firefox and Thunderbird (maybe not as many know about Nvu and Sunbird...) > We must do some things to make linux even better, and easier for that > users. > > "Internet Navigator" instead of "Firefox", "My E-Mail" instead of ^^-> Please ${DEITY} no! > "Thunderbird"... you know... such things. Do you mean like how KDE puts things in it's menus like: Web Browser (Konqueror) PDF Viewer (Adobe Reader) etc.? For Firefox, that would just be a quick change to a desktop file (I thought it already had the 'Web Browser' bit, but now I look it doesn't. pgpohUvjhXRaZ.pgp Description: PGP signature

There's also a few files inside /usr/lib/MozillaFirefox/chrome/browser.jar that deal with the about page and box, so replacing them would put those back to how they should be. You could probably do it by putting the files into ~/.mozilla/firefox/* but I'm not sure if there's any extra steps needed. pgpeeKfANrkgl.pgp Description: PGP signature

[gentoo-user] Blackdown Java weirdness
I'm having a problem with Java (Blackdown JDK 1.4.2.01). Basically, in GUI apps the buttons and tabs are much too tall (around twice what they should be), leading to annoying layout problems with widgets disappearing until the window is stretched right out. I'm not sure if this is a Gentoo-specific problem (I've recently switched from Debian and Sun JDK 1.5, so it could be a Blackdown problem for all I know), but if anyone knows a fix please help. Thanks, Paul. pgpVhbr78gdrP.pgp Description: PGP signature
