Re: [gentoo-user] audacious 1.5 not playing

2008-12-01 Thread Sandro Hannemann
Hi,

Maybe you could provide more detail about the error and your specific setup?
What does "emerge --info" say?
Do you get any error output when you try to play ogg-files?

Just in case:

I do use audacious once in a while and have been using the 1.5.1
versions for some time now.
mp3 and ogg files both play like a charm (just checked it to be abs sure)

Here the USE flags as set on my boxes:

# emerge -1pv audacious audacious-plugins

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] media-sound/audacious-1.5.1-r1 USE="nls session sse2
(-altivec) -chardet -libsamplerate" 1,943 kB
[ebuild R ] media-plugins/audacious-plugins-1.5.1-r3 USE="aac
adplug alsa flac modplug mp3 musepack nls oss sdl tta vorbis wavpack
wma -arts -chardet -esd -gnome -jack -lirc -mtp -pulseaudio -scrobbler
-sid -sndfile -sse2 -timidity" 0 kB

Cheers,
Sandro

Suppose, you've got a project on which you work on both Windows and
Linux machines (and maybe even a Mac...)
Such a project needs backups and it is very convenient and logic too,
to be able to restore (or access) it from Linux and Windows likewise.

Why should this be such a strange idea? I really fail to see why you
insist on this ideological exclusion principle.
Rather it would be good to think of options, what techniques would be
most reliable to perform such backups.

This is certainly not the reason for the problems, the guys in this
thread are having.

Hi,

On linux-2.6.25 NTFS write support is finally stable...

CONFIG_NTFS_FS=y
CONFIG_NTFS_RW=y

No need to go FAT anymore...

Re: [gentoo-user] SMB protocol for Krusader

2008-05-01 Thread Sandro Hannemann
Sorry, I hit the send button by accident.
I think all you have to do is to enable the samba USE flag when emerging kde.

You can append the line:
kde-base/kdebase samba

to /etc/portage/package.use

to accomplish that

Just the "samba" USE flag when emerging kde.

Re: [gentoo-user] Re: smoothest way to jump from 2006 to 2008

2008-04-29 Thread Sandro Hannemann
Well I am not sure, but maybe there is a way of adding more space on
your appliance, if neccessary.
The idea that strikes me, is you could use your current appliance as
the Gentoo-life-system and you install a new machine in that free
area, chroot to it and work further. Really the classical fresh gentoo
install way.
You could work and experiment on that new partition without breaking
your working appliance.

I haven't done this in a vmware environment yet. So it is really just a thought.

Cheers.
