Seq24 is a cranky beast. I can only use it with the options "Jack
Transport", "Transport Master, and "Master Conditional" enabled in "Jack
Sync" tab of seq24 options. You need your patterns activated and routed
to the right seq24 bus AND channel. I have everything in "Midi Clock"
tab set to "On(Pos)". I have an expandable seq24 entry in my Qjackctl
Alsa midi tab and a expandable a2j entry in jack midi tab containing the
same seq24 bus's. Seq24 seems to only operately in any way reliably when
it's the boss in regard to jack transport.

[gentoo-user] CPU frequency scaling Macbook Pro

Hello:) Since upgrading my kernel from 3.10.6-rt3 to 4.1.4-rt5 I can no
longer scale my cpu frequency. I can't see any new or removed options in
menuconfig regarding cpu frequncy scaling, but I don't have
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpuX/cpufreq/ directories any more.

Hi Meino, I have a2jmidid start automaticaly in qjackctl. It's been a
while since my midi played up, but I remember having issues like yours.

In Qjackctl Setup>Options tab I have "Execute script after startup"
enable, and the line:

/usr/bin/a2jmidid -e &

.. and "Execute script on Shutdow" enabled, and the line:

Woops! Sorry, I miss read the post. It had nothing to with me. I'm not
used to reading mail in a terminal:) I'll have to figure out how to get
rid of the advetisingr, or maybe thats the deal with a free account:(

Hello. I'm not sure what these messages mean. I have changed my email
provider. gmail says my client, mutt, is a security risk and can no
longer connect wit it. So I have unsubscribed from the list with that
account and the subscribed again with my new account. I followed the
freeburner.google.com link but the page said "Are you sure you wish
to end your email subscription to:“Descargar Libros PDF Gratis”.
I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.

Hello there! I updated my macbook pro 7,1 about a month ago and X broke. It has 
an nvidia 320M chipset(id:08a0) I have rebuilt the kernel modules. I have moved 
/etc/make.conf to /etc/portage/make.conf. I'm not sure if I need to split my 
xorg.conf into seperate xorg.conf.d entries. I haven't used the machine since 
and I'm out of practice. Mant thanks in advance

root.root.

I have tried creating this rule:

/etc/udev/rules.d/40-seq.rules
   KERNEL=="snd/seq",  GROUP="audio", MODE="0666"

...but I'm not sure about the kernel key pair. I have tried matching 
"/dev/snd/seq" and just "seq"
aswell.

The Bug 406871 for sys-fs/udev-171-r5 looks exactly right, butI have 
sys-fs/udev-171-r6 installed. I''l check my kernel config and try disabling 
tmpfs. I have read that it helps real time audio performanc with 
jack(audio-connection-kit)though.

I have tried removing all the rules in /etc/udev/rules.d. but the mode and 
permissions on /dev/snd/seq persist.

Ah, yes, I did a quick search on b.g.o and found this:

So my comment is wrong, it doesn't have anything to do with devtmpfs, but udev
upstream did fix it :) .

[gentoo-user] /dev/snd/seq access mode and permission

Hi, how do I make changes to permissions and access mode of device nodes 
persistent? At the moment I have to chown and chmod the /dev/snd/seq node every 
boot to make it accessible to my user. the other nodes are fine. Here's the 
output of ls -l /dev/snd/

  Thanks for all the input. I have the network up again. I'm not exactly sure 
how. I've compiled the e1000 in the kernel. The only thing I've changed is this

  Thanks again. I was using the e1000 both compiled-in and as a module with 
previous posts. I just tried the e1000e out of desperation, but I haven't tried 
it as a module. I don't feel that it's the kernel driver but rather the correct 
ethernet inter-face is not being created. I'm reading about writing udev rules 
at the moment. The kenel configuration I had was working.

I deleted etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and rebooted. Now there's a 
message that loading module e1000 failed, and still device eth0 does not exist 
as well as device eth1 does not exits, but there are symlinks in /etc/init.d 
for both.

  Hello, and thancks for the help. I really dig Gentoo.

  I've installed my first Gentoo, but now I'm stuck. I started on an old PIII 
to try things out. Got the networking, ATI happening with xfce4 (had to 
unmasked a few things)and quickly dicided I would rather do this on the fastest 
machine I've got. I stuck the hardrive in my PIV and it booted, so I thought 
I'd just reconfigure and keep going. I compiled a new kernel with a module for 
the new onboard nic and had networking again. After a deep update gcc broke but 
was easy fixed by updating the link to my current gcc version 4.3.2. After 
discovering the gentoolkit (Wow!) I was revdep-rebuilding emerging -udN system 
and world 'cause my network interface was now coming up as eth1. There seemed 
to some residue from the previous network and graphix cards. So then I went 
removed the keywords file that unmasked packages for X and or ATI and emptied 
the portage tree. "emerge -eN system && emerge -eN world" 80!... 24 hours later 
my system has been entirely rebuilt with the new gcc and no masked packages. 
Cool! Had unmerged X and xfce4 somewhere along the way, so reinstalled them 
with some other bits and pieces as per the Gentoo xfce4 config guide. Haven't 
rebooted yet. Reboot! Had grub now Lilo? I didn't do that. Oh well, still 
works. Ok everything seems to be fine, accept no network (and net-setup seems 
to have disapeared):( I think have inadvertantly migrated to Xorg 1.5 with all 
that hal stuff). Then I thought maybe i had migrated to openrc as well and 
started fiddling /etc/conf.d and /etc/rc.conf. (and a bit in /etc/edev/rules.d

In this case the poster is talking about emerge's normal output. While this 
may be many things, it will never ever be sent to STDERR so the inclusion of 
2> is certain to change nothing.

But I can't find anything that looks relevant in /var/log/portage.
How do I get all the other messages out so you can see them?

Wow! I made it! I'm in! Just installed my first Gentoo (Phew!). Its cool! I'm 
up to part 2 of the Gentoo Linux x86 Handbook "Working With Gentoo" and I've 
managed to install a few things, namely vim, links, and xorg-server (As per the 
Xorg server Configuration Guide) in addition the some essential tools mentioned 
in the Handbook. I tried to install xfce4-meta (Xfce Configuration Guide)

... and was informed that I need to add +jpeg to my USE flags. So I did (minus 
the plus sign:)
Then emerge said some packages are blocking each other. I tried unmerging the 
blocking packages as per the Handbook. but they don't seem to be installed yet, 
so that seems to rule out updating them. The Handbook says if two yet to be 
installed packages are blocking each other I should file a bug report. I don't 
understand bug reporting yet. I tried updating the system.
