This time I tried, it worked for me too.
I really don't know what was changed though.
Thanks :)

http://gpo.zugaina.org/eix_cache/eix-cache.tbz2

So the same as yours. So either it's a problem with routing from you to
the server or there's some sort of user-agent checking to stop people
randomly using wget ;-)

No, it's not that, wget worked from here.

The other question is: why are you using wget when eix already has the
facility to download and import this file built in.

But the command fails, and it looks like the file eix-cache.tbz2,
which
is downloaded, is either empty or corrupt.

Any one else faced/facing the same problem?

"eix - q remote" still works here.

Sorry, copying commands on a mobile while distracted is never a good idea.
That should be

eix-remote -q update

Can you check what file gets downloaded in your case, because it fails here:

# eix-remote -q update

 * failed:  wget -N --no-verbose --
http://gpo.zugaina.org/eix_cache/eix-cache.tbz2

[gentoo-user] downloading remote eix data file

2016-05-23 Thread Thanasis
I have a script that runs daily as a cron job, which among others, has
the following command in it, in order to update locally the (remote) eix
database.

wget -N http://gpo.zugaina.org/eix_cache/eix-cache.tbz2

But the command fails, and it looks like the file eix-cache.tbz2, which
is downloaded, is either empty or corrupt.

Any one else faced/facing the same problem?
