Yes its know. And I restored it to its usual state(that is also
broken, but less so) a few days ago.

 (using latest git version).
Git is a moving target. It is occasionally broken. If you want to
complain about something in it, its best done in IRC and after
building again to see if it has been fixed already.

I did search the bug reports and didn't find anything (maybe I didn't
search very well, but I did try). Also, there isn't a known issues
list in gimp.org.
How I am supposed to know what is known or not, besides asking?

See that there is a difference between complaining and asking (even if
I didn't use an interrogation, it indeed was a doubt): I didn't say
that Gimp sux! Brush contours are all broken and wrong.
Also see that by latest git version, I really mean the latest version
(7e6d2542f22f7168abc7160fc0960e405e2eb607 right now). So the problem
is still there.

And what is the difference/problem in asking in the mailing-list instead IRC?
If I don't need to have a fast answer, my network has some kind of
restriction or I don't know what IRC is, why do I have to ask on IRC?

Is not showing incorrect tool contours for me.

Users arent supposed to use GIT versions. Git versions are for developers and
often conain incomplete features. Not everything that goes on in GIT is
documented outside because developers are working on it and would go nuts if
they had to explain their every move to users. IRC[1] is where developers
communicate and where this information is shared.

AS to your question, the outline has been somewhat broken fo while. it doesnt
interact prfectly with brush transforms and is waiting for a complete
reworking. Recently I broke it completely and then fixed it again to the
previous slightly broken state.

Users arent supposed to use GIT versions. Git versions are for developers and

This is how it _has_ been, but to make GIMP more fun for both developers
and users, this needs to change.

The change we need to make is to develop things on feature branches and
merge them to git master when they are ready. That way we can make
releases much more frequently than every 2 or 3 years.

Making frequent releases is one important part in attracting
contributors. How fun is it to contribute a feature to a project when
the feature won't be widely used until after 3 years?

So to be a bit harsh: the error here was that git master broke, not that
a user wanted to help by pointing it out.

Alexia, it is still OK to ask here. Asking here should be as appropriate
as asking on IRC. A short answer stating that this is a known issue
would have been appropriate.
