[Gimp-user] GIMP newbie can't blur

2006-09-16 Thread Alexandru GHERMAN

Hi
!

I'm using Gimp in
Windows, and I'm (very) newbie. I have an image and I wanted to Blur/Sharpen it,
but whenever I load it and I select the region or the entire image, when I go to
Filters/Blur, all the filters are not activated / frozen gray menus. Please can
someone help me how should I do it ?

Thank you very much,
and I'm sorry if that's a very trivial issue, but I want to start Gimp, and I
must do this and I hope you can help me!

Thank
you,
Alex

just a guess, but the image is probably indexed.

Image/Mode/RGB should enable all of the blur/sharpen plugins.

Re: [Gimp-user] Re: Fuzzy select tool antialiasing does not work

2006-09-16 Thread David Gowers
The problem is yours. The results you are getting are far poorer than if you had done it correctly. You seem to have filled the new areas over the top of the old image -- The antialiasing is perfectly correct, it's just that when you are antialiasing from red to red or black to black, the result is invisible.
This is how it looks when I do it, properly:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v449/neota/edits/logo.pngI did this by:* Create a new (white) layer
* Select the red areas* Selection to path* Path to selection* Fill the selection on the new layer with red* Select the black areas* Selection to path* Path to selection* Fill the selection on the new layer with black.

Re: [Gimp-user] Gimp-python on windows

2006-09-16 Thread David Gowers
Google search terms: gimp-python windows xpwhich results in:
http://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-arls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial_shl=enq=gimp-python+windows+xpbtnG=Google+Searchwhich leads to:
https://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/lists/gimp-user/2006-February/007492.htmlI've tried that. I installed:* gtk2.8* python2.4* numpy* pygtk* gimp2.3.11in that order.
All of the installations went okay, Python support was automatically selected by gimp, but it doesn't actually work. none of the Python based plugins are present, The python-Fu console and pdb browser are not present, and nothing is mentioned about them in the generated pluginrc file.
I've checked that Python and pygtk both work okay. The only difference is that I am using Windows 2000 on the box I'm trying to install to, not XP.Does anyone know what may be wrong? Is there a critical difference between Windows 2000 and Windows XP in this case?
