[Gimp-user] selection problem
hi... I was touching up some scans yesterday and cam accross something new that I didn't find how to do with gimp... I wanted to remove a small part of the image with a part from somewhere else, by coping a piece of background over it. so I want to draw a selection ( e.g. using the lasso ) and now I want to use that selection to cut a piece of background somewhere else... but I didn't find how to do that. (I ended up drawing the selection on the background more or less the shape I wanted, but it would have been easier to draw on the target of the copy/paste operation) anyone have suggestions on how to do this? thanks, -- lode ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user

Von: lode leroy [EMAIL PROTECTED] so I want to draw a selection ( e.g. using the lasso ) and now I want to use that selection to cut a piece of background somewhere else... but I didn't find how to do that. Sounds like you want to move the selection outline without moving the content. You can do this with the move tool, http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-tool-move.html Have a look at the tool options, especially the 'Affect' setting. [Gimp-user] Base type of a wmf image
I'm using script-fu to load an image to determine the image base type. It gives me back rgb even if the wmf image is in grayscale. How come? Can I determine the image type in some other way? This is the script: (define (script-fu-wmf-type-check file) (gimp-message-set-handler 0) (set! image (car (file-wmf-load RUN-NONINTERACTIVE file file 72 0 0))) (set! image-type (car(gimp-image-base-type image))) (gimp-message (number-string image-type)) ) Thanks /Magnus ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user

At least picture IMG_3896 is for me to see, a matter of whitebalance - if not all the pictures. You want to use the clone tool - teh one that looks like a stamp. Pick it, hold control, and click on the portion of the image you want to copy _from_, and procede to normal painting on the part of the image you are copying _to_. I prefere using it in the aligned mode (tool options). You will find out that for better results you might want to pick a soft brush, and possibly tweak of the opacity settings, depending on the nature of your background. I don't know the exact english text which appears here but i guess everyone knows of which option I'm talking about. When a pixel is fully transparent, it still might hold an RGB value, though invisible. This RGB value can be retrieved if the pixel is made opaque or translucent. With this option enabled, this hidden color is written in a png file. Else, the RGB value is set to the gimp context's BG colour, and the information is lost. This allows for a smaller file size if the RGB value int the transparent areas are not flat. thanks in advance, bernhard -- www.gimpusers.de End of signed message ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
