Does this mean the argument about the name is beginning yet again? :)

GIMP Users,

First I suggest monitoring cpu load. Especially for drawing on large images,
it's good to ensure that nothing except GIMP is hogging the CPU.

I saw this bug report on line smoothing in the bug reports:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55366

... it seems rather old, even though the latest comment is from spring

Are there any developments on this, or decent work arounds?

How do most GIMP users deal with the task of drawing smooth freehand
curves?

I don't know. I do know that it is a standard practice when drawing digital
art to draw the original at a multiple of the final size (eg. 4x) and this
addressed most of my concerns about smooth curves even in the days when I
only had a mouse.

I'm running Ubuntu Dapper, myself. And in my xorg.conf, I include the
following lines in each tablet-related device definition:

 Option "Threshold"
"10"
 Option "HistorySize" "5"

If I want super-smooth lines, I make a solid color layer, and draw on the
mask instead -- then when I'm basically happy with it, I run it through
PoTrace to smooth it and clean it.

Holding the pen completely upright will cut down massively on any
hand-induced jitter.

Finally, the ink tool performs time-smoothing.

[Gimp-user] LGM/2007

2007-02-05 Thread Joao S. O. Bueno Calligaris
LGM 2007 is approaching, and we have to deal which GOIMP people will
be attending.

There will be limited funding to sponsor the air fare costs, comming
from GIMP donations, and possibly a little from LGM funding.

In order to knwo which people can be sponsred, we need first to know
who wants sponsorship (and to a certain degree, how hard one wnats to
go/needs the sponsorship to go/is involved with the project).

People who is attending can add their names at
http://wiki.gimp.org/gimp/TellUsYoureComing .

Anyone who will need the sponsorship or simply wnat to query about the
possibility, should e-mail me as soons apossible, so it can be
deliberated among the GIMP developers.

Regards,

[Gimp-user] missing operations on Mac/WinXP

2007-02-05 Thread Anthony Ettinger
I've installed Gimp on my Mac OSX and WinXP, and I've noticed a few
things are missing that are present in the Linux version.

1) letter-spacing in the text tool
2) Bringing up the color palette and saving a color when using the eye-dropper.

[Gimp-user] Yellow Cursor Using Mac OS X Intel

2007-02-05 Thread Kirk Tirakian

Hi,

I have tried the best I know how to change the yellow cursor color in
GIMP.
When I open a file the cursor turns to a pale shade of yellow that is
very hard to see.

Any suggestions?

I understand there is a problem (and a solution) with X11 in Mac OS X
on an Intel Mac which is what I am using.

Thank You,

Kirk
