[Gimp-user] Refocus plug-in
How does one install the refocus plug-in on GIMP on a windows xp system? The original does have a windows binary. http://www.deviantart.com/download/81588756/Refocus_plugin__windows_OS_by_photocomix_resources.zip watch for line wraps and that double underscore. This is the 0.7 version and is old - dates itself as 1999, but just tried it in a winxp portable gimp and it works. Uses the FIR Wiener Deconvolution but not as many options as the reworked 0.91 version. What is usable on both, is refocus-it (iterative refocus) which I got from who-knows-where but if you want to try, its on my rapidshare account at: (about 150 KB) http://rapidshare.com/files/435661692/gimp_plugin-refocus-it Article about both http://www.linux.com/archive/feed/124567 -- rich (via gimpusers.com) ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
[Gimp-user] Stripes in print (Gimp 2.6.7)
Hi, after editing a photograph of a girl I downloaded for free from Stockvault, I printed it out at a local drugstore (on one of those Kodak stations), but unfortunately the print contained a pattern of fine stripes. The woman in the drugstore told be that this must be due to to file. To test this, I printed the photograph out at another store of the same chain, but the stripes were still present, albeit not as strong as in the first print. My question: Did anyone experience this as well, and what can I do to avoid this in the future? I really zoomed in on the file (I'm using Gimp 2.6.7, and my display is gamma-corrected), but I couldn't detect any stripes. The file can be found here: http://home.arcor.de/ccyrny/images/posing-girl_03_15x20.jpg Thanks for any recommendations, Claus -- Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/claus_01/5121520814/#/photos/claus_01/5121520814/lightbox/ ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user

Von: Claus Cyrny claus.cy...@web.de The file can be found here: http://home.arcor.de/ccyrny/images/posing-girl_03_15x20.jpg There *is* a very prominent stripes pattern in this image. Is this the file you're trying to get printed, or a copy of a resulting print? Regards, Michael -- Neu: GMX De-Mail - Einfach wie E-Mail, sicher wie ein Brief! [Gimp-user] Layers with Mask
Hello, at the moment i am testing the version 2.7 and i miss the chance to add a mask to a layer group. To compose with layer groups this would be a cool add on. At the moment i use the work around: creating a new layer from the viewed, and add to this a mask. But this is very inconvenient, cause if the result of layer-group changes i have to create a new layer,... Did i miss something to add a mask to the layer-group? The shift is intentional. Regarding the stripes: I found out that this is a gamma issue. On my (gamma-corrected; gamma = 1.0) display the stripes are not visible. If I reduce the gamma to 0.5, the image becomes visibly darker, and then I can see the stripes as well. The Kodak system on which I printed the file has no gamma correction, either--thus the stripes. I made a simple image file to check the gamma of the Kodak system, in order to find the proper correction value. Then I'm hoping that the stripes should disappear. Thanks to all who responded. [Gimp-user] problem with genius 8x6 tablet and gimp
I have a possible solution to this problem - but you're not going to like it. My guess is, that like me - you have a second monitor. I think that what's happening is that Gimp is not dealing well with the extended desktop, and that's why the x-axis is getting confused. I found that unplugging my second monitor, and rebooting, as well as setting the device mode back to 'screen' made everything work properly. It's hardly a suitable solution - but might help to point out where the problem lies. Hi. I've just replaced my old AceCad tablet with Genius 8x6 tablet. it works fine in ALL programs I checked except for GIMP . :( The problem is that the x-axis doens't react as it should. for example - if I user a brush tool - I get two cursors - one with a brush where the pen is and another where it actualy draws. I've googled for a few hours with no aparent solution. I'm using gimp 2.6.8 on windows XP home edition. To my best knowledge, the tablet driver is the latest and it seems to work fine. I also get preasure recognition both in gimp and in the tablet utility. Do you know of any solution about this frustrating situation ? Thanks, Ohad. I'm having the same problem, and while I can't offer a solution, I might be able to offer a bit more information. I'm running with two monitors, and I'm wondering if -- straykite (via gimpusers.com) ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
